but sometimes you just want to play Secret of the Magic Crystals on max audio, but you don't want your neighbors to hear it.

How do you know it's the truth though? I've yet to meet someone who's used both the Razer Megalodon and the Audio Technica AD700 and managed to give me an accurate answer. He just wants to beat Razer because they're a big company with expensive products.

Not really. I consider myself to be an audiophile and I care about getting the best audio quality for your money. The fact that Audio Techinicas have a larger sound stage is a indication of that it is better for gaming since audio cues are more clear.
The comparison between the two pairs would be like comparing Beyers DT660s with Beats. While they may be the same price, the audio quality in general is vastly difference. Both of these are colored of course and non-reference, which imo makes a better comparison.

Just got a ASUS Vulcan and I'm really happy with it. Got the ANC version, but you should go for the Pro version (USB connection).

I personally use the Skullcandy SLYR and love it with a passion, sounds amazing. It works with both PC and PS3.
Edit: its exactly in your price range as well.

Glad you liked the suggestion, they are super comfy to wear (nice soft foam-like pads that go AROUND the ear not on).
If you'd like to know what the mics like we can go into a chat if you want.

The way it works is that it connects the sound via the stock cable red/white connections (you can leave the yellow unplugged or whatever i honestly don't even plug the cables into anything but the headset and leave the headset connection off anything else) and the hdmi is then used just for the video so you keep your video quality and gain the headset but if you use a slim/super slim PS3 your basically stuck with 1 usable usb slot as it eats one of them for the mic and power.

You wont be disappointed, I love the sound quality and (to me anyways) sounds like it might have a surround sound effect. I can hear where bandits are shooting me from on Borderlands 2 (PS3) and get them before I go down.

http://steelseries.com/products/audio , siberia v2 (not the usb ones i heard those are shit). I'm on my second ones now and i can recommend them, not too expensive and great for gaming and others say they aren't that good for music but i don't have any problems listening to music with them.

I agree. I tested it for more than one year and for me, it's a really nice gaming headset. The sound is fine for gaming, but also for music and films, which isn't that common. It's really comfortable (just a bit warm for ears after hours), adjustable, the mic is good... well a nice one to pick !
I personnaly had bad luck : i returned one for an audio problem (audio suddently broke/stop in one side ==> mono) after 8 months and i got the same issue with the new one :/ May be back luck, they didn't crashed or else, dunno why it happened but it's must be a rare problem since I didn't saw many references to that issue on the web.
