Thanks to anyone who has given a little word or something small or big to support me or cheer me up or whatever. You know who you are. And thanks to the SteamGifts community, even if you don't know, (most of) you've helped to keep me (almost) sane (most of) this year.
Just a few things for you. Monkey Island 2 is my 2nd favourite point and click graphic adventure ever. So here you have some monkey games.

(Really, just a coincidence.)
You don't need to enter now; with all the events and trains, everyone is short of points. They will end on Jan 6th so just bookmark the pages and enter the gibs when you have enough points.
Thank you and have a great end of year, however you celebrate it.
Edit: thank you all for the comments.

Well, it's all a matter of tastes, DOTT is my fav graphic adventure, I played a lot of them back in the day, specially Lucas ones. Ringworld, Simon the Sorcerer, Full Throttle, The Dig... And decades later, DOTT is still my fav. (Trivia: you can play the original Maniac Mansion in DOTT, using Edgar's computer. In fact it's needed for some DOTT achievements. I admit using a guide because I always hated Maniac Mansion.)
About the Monkey Island saga, the strong points are the classic ones, Secret of MI and MI2 LeChuck's Revenge. Playing them back to back is a great experience. MI2 goes right after DOTT in my list of fav graphic adventures, and both are some of my favourite games ever. The Curse of MI... It was good, but not like the first. I don't even remember anything. So if you like this kind of games, at their price, the MI and MI2 special editions is worth the investiment, IMHO.
I still have Secret of Monkey Island in its original package, with the protection Dial-a-Pirate, and the full eight 5.25" floppies.

Yup, I booted Maniac Mansion on that PC, just to see it in action. :)) But as I was all caught up in actually advancing in DOTT, I quickly left it aside and even forgot about it.
The Monkey Island collection, I have it all on Steam but I think I'll get it on GOG too, just so I have it DRM-free. I can't believe they needed 8 5.25" floppies for the game in 1990. Were those 360K disks? It wasn't exactly common to have big games back then with most HDDs out there smaller than 100MB. :))
P.S. If young people read this, they'll think there must be some typo above. :)) It's almost inconceivable.

Yes 5.25" DD (Double side Double density) which means 360 kiloBytes. I remember having like 8-10 games in one floppy. MI1 was the first game I saw which had 8 floppies (4 for the 3.5" 720kB floppies). I was lucky to have two drives so disk swapping wasn't that bad.
My first HD was 125MB. Currently I have 13TB between SSD, internal and external HDs. One day these things must stop growing.

@JMM72 The storage situation is only going to inflate. :) Back in 1993, when I pushed my first buttons on one of my cousin's computer, that thing didn't even have an internal storage device. It was a ZX Spectrum clone that loaded games from tape. In 1996, my older sister bought a PC with a 210MB HDD, and it was pretty decent for its time. Two years later I bought myself a PC with a HDD 10 times as big as my sister's, and it was OK, but it wasn't nearly enough. I'm lucky to still have her PC with both a 5.25" drive and a 3.5" drive. :)
In 2001 I moved to 20GB, in 2003 I went to 120GB, etc. My biggest HDD now is 16TB and I have to wonder - 30 years from now will we look at 16TB drives like we now look at the storage of the 90s? Is it sustainable? Jokingly, when I was in high school, using double digit MHz PCs, I told a friend of mine that one day I'll get myself a hell of a fast PC with a 666 MHz CPU. I couldn't even imagine when that future would come, and now I can't believe how far that is in the past.
It looks like it doesn't matter how ridiculous we think the technology is now, there's always going to be something more to store, more cores, more RAM, more whatever. To be fair, given how easy it is to take lots of high quality photos and make videos with a pocket phone, the older we get, the more storage we need just for memories. And then there's all other kinds of content, like my DRM-free games collection from GOG that I don't even know if I have enough storage for. Many years ago I filled up a spare 750GB HDD with part of my collection, and I only had 200-300 games back then. Now I'm at over 600, and maybe, just maybe, I'm overdoing it. :))

The EGA version had eight 5.25" floppy disks with 360kB each:

The VGA version had three 3.5" disks with 1440kB each:

I remember owning a 20MB external HDD for my Atari ST1040FM. ^^

Nice one, thanks! :D By the way, the EGA version you linked is the German version. The English one, EGA 8x5.25", is this:

Hoping you have a safe & fun Christmas and best wishes for the hew year & the strength to deal with anything it throws up 👍. And you're absolutely right, nothing can beat some timeless and classic LucasArts, still got my retail copies of 2 & 3 (giant boxes and all 😄), even with ScuumVM it's been a bit of a struggle to get them working the past few years.

It's always a smile to meet you here, you're not just a pillar here but also one who brings smile to everyone here,
after 15 days i'm still crying from grandma death, but same SG helps me to keep afloat, what a amazing website, one of the most amazing of the internet i think, still allowing us to meet between so many gaps outside.
Wish you happy holidays and send you a big hug from here !
