I just got tricked into signing in on a steamcommunity website that looked legit, except it had one extra letter in the url. It made it so when I went to the actual steam page I couldn't view the password reset/support page even after I cleared my cookies. Luckily, I'm not dumb and just tried it in a different browser and was able to get my account back and change my password. People who do that shit are so lame. First and last time I'll fall for that

Check if the connection is secure; the adress should start with https://, plus green company name or padlock symbol is present in pretty much all browsers.

When one person gets phished, they have a script to add other users and send them the link. This causes each victim to become a spreader. So there's really no way to stop it except by quarantining the affected users and educating the rest.

But how the hell do they send me messages? They never were my steam friends...

They can message you in-game, in a group chat, or by joining one of your under-250 member groups. That enables you to communicate directly with another group member.

Odd, not even one person added me trying to phish. Probably cuz I dont trade anymore.

Dis. How the hell do they send messages to anyone without friending him?

There was one phisher per month or something before, now like 5-10 a day, what is happening? Why Valve doesn't give a f**k?

I know that feel, OP.
During the last week i got a ton of those messages. It's always the same "Hurr add a Friend, he wants to trade"-message along with a link to his phishing page. I reported the hell out of him and blocked right away, but he is very persistent and keeps on sending me messages from various accounts he most likely successfully phished recently. I'm really starting to get mad.

I am not sure where people are getting all this phishing stuff unless they are friending a bunch of people they don't actually know, or trying to connect their steam profile to too many sites.

So everyday I get adds from bots that send phishing links, yesterday got even 6... They send me phishing messages even if they are not my friends (wat)... Is there any way to get rid of those bastards? I am an active trader so declining random invites is not an option.
Obviously not a phishing link
