In this version they are included many "sounds_*.pck" of differents languages.But I cannot find to change GUI.

Stupid idea, but what happens, when you take sounds_english.pck and rename it to sounds_chinese.pck? (filenames may differ since i dont have it installed yet. but you get the idea)

yup. that's the reason why I am not getting it neither. I guess they deleted the option to change the language on purpose, to decrease the amount of people that "cheat" the region restriction.

Shame the game is in Chinese. But I guess it's fair as it's not for my region. I am wondering if you only get Chinese versions in China when you buy the game. My native language isn't English but Dutch but I still prefer my computer/games/movies/books etc in English.

In Poland we only get polish versions of EA games (which are beyond awful) so it might be the case with Ubisoft and China.

I can imagine, sorry to hear that. Yeh, I don't know why I feel this way about it. I am fine with Dutch in real life. But I guess on the computer I do literally everything in English because most things are in English so I just got used to it.

I really love my language (it's part of my job ;) ) but I also love playing my games in their original language (Titanfall in english, Witcher in polish, Stalker in russian etc.). It's their loss if they want to rob me of this choice, I simply won't buy anything from their official store.
I buy such games as global keys from resellers some time after release. I can play the way I want to, I don't have to pay the full price and EA is getting a smaller cut of my money. It's a win-win for me :)

There must be a way to replace it to English, its just a text. I tried the registry thingy but that didnt work. I guess i would need to have the original Englils files or something

Can you (or anyone else reading this) post a pic of your AssCreed 2 root folder showing the file names and their sizes? I have the regular EU version on Uplay and the contents of my folder look like this (first screenshot). Also the content of your SoundData/pc/ folder within the root folder (second screenshot). I don't see any obvious config files to change languages and the like, so I was curious if the content of this free Chinese version is different from the EU version.

Executable are different...*.forge files are different.... Many files are differents :S

If you change the .exe. Uplay request a new key to activate it.
If I change other files, the games still on chinesse.

As that nesting states, Origin works the same way (I think I own 5 copies of Peggle, now, somehow). Seems you can hide the games on both Origin and Uplay, however, so there's no real negative impact to it.

I had 2 versions of ac4 on my account. One that I bought on Steam ages ago and the one Ubi gave away for free.
Just to keep it clear I asked the support to delete my Steam version of ac4.

no. I used geoproxy. that wouldn't affect the uplay client
also i turned it off after i was done adding it to my library

Rarely ever used VPN or Proxy before, but fro these games I did add Geoproxy to Chrome. Some fiddling with which proxy needed is required, but works like a charm

What's the point of only giving these away in China? Especially when they have given some crazy games in the past. They could do the "China Spring Festival" event for the entire world, who gives a crap. Oh, well. It doesn't matter, Uplay is still shit anyway.

I believe they locked to china for this exact reason. The ubisoft guy on reddit said something regarding that it wasnt their responsability if the game you got was in chinese, which is the case for ac2.

Sometimes you would want to get metrics from some specific region, adding they want to make chinese customers special creating an offer "only" for them, would create an attachment sense.

Like others I guess there is no point in getting ACII if it is stuck in chinese, but maybe ubisoft has gotten smart to make the free games only in the chinese language to deter people not from china from getting the free games.
But unless there is a english patch fix shortly before it leaves on the 12th of feb, then maybe I will try to get it.

I guess I like a free game as much as the next guy but to tell you the truth I wasn't that big on the assasins creed series I got the first one when it released and got 3/4 free, so even if I cannot get 2 in English it won't be that much of a loss. I just hope that the third game isn't something I would like then be stuck in Chinese language. I wonder though with this isbit just the menu plus subtitles in Chinese or is the vocals in Chinese as well?

K, but still having the button promps and UI in a different language will be hard to play the game, so unless in 4-5 days (well before ac2 is removed from the deal) if there is a way to change the language then I may just as well just say screw this free game, and hope that the next one isn't language locked.
But knowing ubisoft it probably is, maybe they decided to do it this way so the games will be locked to people from china that actually speak the language.

I knew that already from someone else, but that is why I was saying I won't bother then getting the free game unless before it expires, there is a guide or walkthrough of a way to convert the interface to english, since it would be hard to play the game (even if the sounds are in english) if the button prompts and menu is in a different language.
