I have $22.06 on a credit card, but Steam only lets you add funds in intervals of $5. Can I just put $20 on my account and then buy, say, a five-dollar game using the remaining $2.06 and the rest being taken out of the wallet? (I've never used Steam wallet so help me here)

you can i do it all the time
basically you select steam wallet as your first payment option
then steam will say you dont have enough funds to fully pay for this select a 2nd payment option and it will pay for the rest of it with card/paypal.

I'd recommend just using it right off the credit card.

I don't think so. It would work vice-versa - if you had insufficient Wallet funds it would make up the difference from your card. But not like this.

afaik, Steam store uses the wallet funds first, credit card only if you don't have sufficient wallet funds

But you can mix payments?

That means I just bought a Fortix copy to spend the whole funds and it's been an stupid move?

Yes, you can mix them. If you have 1 USD in your Steam wallet and buy a 4.99 USD game, your CC will be billed the difference of 3.99 USD (asuming you have a CC linked to your account).

But you can not decide how much money is used from which source. Steam store uses wallet funds first.

I am plain stupid then. I just wasted some euros.

Good to know. And thanks for the info :)

It's Fortix, that's never a waste.

you can add custom amounts to steam it being more than 5$.

But withdrawing money from wallet is not possible once you put money in it.

How do I add a custom amount? I don't really use credit cards for anything else so that would be the best option for me.

Thanks - that worked. It doesn't work below $5, right? I have some old debit cards with a few cents here and there.

I hold onto them for 99% sales on Desura. I got 17 copies of Longshot there and gave away 16 of them here in the forums.

Oh, this will be awesome for decreasing the number of gift cards I have with too little change.

To clarify, you want to start with $22.06 on a CC, put $20 into the Steam wallet, and then buy a $5 game and end up with $0 on the credit card and $17.06 in your wallet? I'm pretty sure that's not possible. However, if you're ordering something more expensive than what's left in your wallet it is possible to exhaust the wallet and then cover the remainder with a different funding source.

You can do it as you said. Steam always takes the money from the wallet first and lets you choose a second payment option.

No need for dirty workarounds.

How do you do this whole, buy with what is in your wallet and use your card for the rest? I am trying to purchase something with a value higher than the current Wallet Limit of $200 and when I go to purchase my only option is to add the other required funds to my Wallet.

Of course, if I try to add the required funds it says it would put be beyond the Wallet Limit and so as of yet, I am unable to buy the item in question. I have put up a Steam Support Ticket but I am unsure of how much longer the aforementioned item will be available, so I figure the more places I ask around the better chance I will have in receiving an answer.
