I was told about a new site that offers direct download of free games with no membership or registration required!

This site offers a wide variety of genres from TM to Match-3 to HOG to Arcade to Racing and more!

https://www.gametop.com/

I found some real gems there, such as Adam Wolfe, the Jewel Match series, Rooms: The Unsolvable Puzzle (aka Rooms: The Toymaker's Mansion), Forgotten Tales: Day of the Dead, a slew of solitaire games, Island Tribe, Roads of Rome and more! Very cool!

So what's the catch?

The games truly are free -- there are no advertisements in the games -- but each time you finish installing or exit a game, GameTop's website will pop up in your browser. There are a couple of unobtrusive adverts on their website, but they're easily-ignored.

Each time you enter a game that you've gotten from these folks, you'll get a box that pops up telling you about their site. Like so (click on the image at the bottom to see)

Just click on the Play Now button and you're all set! (By the way, you should totally grab Fishdom: Depths of Time. It's really fun!)

There's a limit to how many pages you can look at per day, but it's a pretty high number.

I haven't had any issues whatsoever, just that small annoyance of the website popping up, and let's face it... That's a small price to pay to try these games!

EDIT: In response to whether or not this site is allowed to distribute these games, please see response from HH-games in Feena's post here:

I've tried a couple that were so-so (and others that I already knew were just bad) but there are some that I KNOW are great:

HOG's:

https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/adam-wolfe/
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/varenje/ (Not exactly a HOG, more like one of Amanita's games)

https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/farmington-tales-2/ (HOG/SIM combo)

https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/living-legends-frozen-beauty/ (The Living Legends games are amazing!)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/aquascapes/ (A HOG version of the Fishdom games)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/barn-yarn/ (Gardenscapes-type play, but updated)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/vampireville/ (Not amazing gameplay, but SO funny... And the main character looks like Keanu Reeves)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/mushroom-age/ (Same dev as Vampireville, and even funnier!)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/the-mystery-of-the-crystal-portal/ (Loved this at the time -- Not sure how it holds up now!)

Casual SIM:

https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/twilight-city-love-as-a-cure/ (I wrote a guide for this one!)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/all-my-gods/
Island Castaway

Match-3:

https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/secrets-of-magic-the-book-of-spells/ (Played and enjoyed this one, and the 2nd and 3rd games are also available)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/jewel-match-twilight/ (Eldest is playing this one -- Looks fun!)
Runefall and Silver Tale are both really addictive... Until you run out of quests, and then they're not so fun anymore.
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/marble-duel/ (Marble-popper, my favorite of all time!)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/fishdom-depths-of-time/ (Love it! Match-3 to make $ to buy fish and decorate tanks)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/green-valley/ (There's something really addictive about this one :p)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/farmscapes/ (a personal favorite!)

Solitaire:

https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/jewel-match-solitaire-lamour/ (Haven't actually played it yet, but it's by Grey Alien, devs I really love)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/the-chronicles-of-emerland-solitaire/ (Gorgeous graphics with some mild HO scenes thrown in)

Puzzle:

https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/rooms/ (Actually called Toymaker's Mansion)
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/shadomania/ (Haven't played it, but am going to!)

Time Management:

Some great series here, including Roads of Rome, Island Tribe, Adelantado, Northern Tale, Gnome's Garden, Garden's Inc., My Kingdom for the Princess (OO! I didn't have #4, yay!), Royal Envoy, Jack of All Tribes (wish they'd made a sequel!) and multiple others!

Click Management:

Love these games! There aren't many of them on the market, but if you've ever played Magic Farm, it's the same kind of gameplay. Speaking of which, Magic Farm is available there!
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/dragon-keeper/
https://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/dragon-keeper-2/

annnnd I've exceeded how many pages I can look at today. lol~ This should be a good start for y'all, though!

Rooms: The Toymaker's Mansion didn't just come out, it came out May 2015. It's still a great puzzle game though. :)

I think they mean it was just made available on that site recently.

No, I actually thought it had been released recently.

Oh my gosh, you're right! I just discovered that it existed recently, so in my mind, that equaled recent release. My bad!

Frankly, it looks like yet another pirate site specializing in casual games, only this one claims to be legal for some reason. Basically, be sure scan what you download with a decent antivirus.

I don't know how they're able to do this legitimately, and I seriously hope that it IS legit! I have a very good antivirus, and have had no issues with the ones I've tried.

And the site is made by yourself, right ?

No, asshole. It would take you all of about 90 seconds to see that genkicoll is a legit user both here and on Steam, where she is a curator. She just loves casual, puzzle and HOG games. Sheesh.

As Gothemasticator said, no, I have no affiliation with the site whatsoever. I just wanted to share the info for those who are interested.

If it turns out that the site is not legit and they are pirating games, someone please let me know! I will delete every trace of these games from my computer and from the other sites I've shared this with.

You know what, since it's come up that these games might be pirated, I have a way of checking. I've been curating games for HH-games, so I have a contact email. I'll just ask my contact if it's legit! I'll be sure to let y'all know what he says!

Seriously wondering.

Depends on whether they're legit or not. I've emailed HH-games, and as soon as I know for sure, I'll update this thread.

Not sure if it is the same site I remember from years ago, but I do distinctively remember 2 websites I'd go visit as a kid to download some pretty ok-ish games.

The games I remember playing were:
A city racer game which was no NFS but eh, was unique with it's car trading and upgrade system. The game itself was alright.
A sky track game, name pretty self explanatory. A bit more fun due to the hotwheels style of feeling.
A game about farm animals. Wasn't too bad.
A game about zoo animals. Wasn't too bad either.
An underwater scuba platformer which I remember I was very much invested in. No clue why I liked it so much but I did.
A helicopter arcade shooter. Fun with buddies as you try to nick power ups cause I ain't sharing that, even if that leads to my death.
A police racer thingy game. Avoid this one at all cost.
An ostrich racer. Was fun when it worked.

It was a long time ago though, so I am not certain if it is the same site, even if it is, I guess they have added more additional games to it. I don't know if they are legit or not in their legal department, most of the games that were available during my time were in limited quantities and only contained small indie-ish games. They were fun for the time and well, I didn't have much option back then.

This sounds a bit too good to be true. If it turns out to be legit, then I might use it if I ever run out of things to play :D

I tried and found some articles about the site, and it seems legit. However, they used to have a bad history when they add some adware to their games. So I guess they switched to ads-based now?

An interview with the founder

A forum topic warning about GameTop on GiveawayoftheDay

They seem to have been around since the early 2010s, licensing casual games and distributing for free (with a twist).

Not sure if the games they get are legit meaning not pirated or anythin. Though seems kinda legit?

That's what I was thinking, but starting this thread made me realize that I was being too trusting. As my boss used to say, "Trust but verify."

No response from HH-games yet! Hopefully soon :)

i think its equal to https://www.myplaycity.com/ or https://toomkygames.com/

the sites work all with setups with ads at starting/ending of games and eventually open links in browsers

ye its a legit site not only because its there for long (like 10 years or so) but that these games are actually given by devs. Why do i think like that?
Just check their catalogue. Alot of there games were later for free on Indiegala in drmfree freebies catalogue, on game.giveawayoftheday or for example on lootboy in itch.io section were every game is released not by studio that made game but owners of lootboy. So that means that game are given on every of these sites probably using barter agreement where by giving drmfree copy of their games to popular sites (gametop generates like 50k downloads per upload so thats nice) devs are promoting their other products. Cuz even if only 0,1% of these guys buy their games then its still better than 0

No response from HH-games yet, so I've just emailed Playrix as well (they did Fishdom, Gardenscapes, etc).

If I don't hear back from one or both of them by the end of the week, I'll close the thread and let it sink into oblivion.

I have played one game from there years ago. It was from a series that didn't have the first one on Steam. I didn't get any antivirus warnings from the game.

I received an answer from HH-games, quote ︾

》yes it is legal ... but they add a lot of advertising to the games. The mostly target Eastern and Russian markets.
It is more or less a question if you rather like to have your games without any advertisement and pay 2.99 or 3.99 US$ or have them stuffed with advertisement and get them free (Gametop earns money on the advertisement).
It´s rather the same with the question if you rather like paying a small one time fee and then have pure fun playing or if you prefer getting the game for free and being urged to pay a mass on micropayments for bonuses or similar things.
There are many more sites who offer the same kind of concept as gametop - gametop is only one of the first and meanwhile the biggest.《

So it is legal, but I highly suggest that try out the game for free from this website and if you love it, support the developers by purchasing their games ♡

I never did hear back from HH-games, and Playrix's response was "canned" and had nothing to do with my question, BUT, if you look up one post, you'll see that Feena DID hear back from HH, and it IS legit!

As Feena said, please purchase the games at Steam (or wherever) if you love them to support the devs!

1 result and 75 clean reports is the very definition of a false positive.

Since Clean MX is an exclusive malware/phishing list service, the website probably shows up in their list because its products contain a form of internal adware.
