okay lets be civil about comments made here, in your honest opinion how do you feel about games that are white listed by invitation and or private entries only taking into account yes your chances are better and yes this will get you in the country club, however the website is steamgifts with that said it should be for everybody right, even if contributors blacklisted you and you have not contributed, after all this is also a site to make new friends and play games together just honest opinions please. and lets omit trolls and folks who won't let you reply to there useless comments even though they could be upstanding members meaning I know how hard it is for trolls to keep there mouths shut. so lets see how many members will blacklist me and I encourage it if you deem it the right thing to do, however I will continue to give games to all which is what it's all about.

i think this is unfair to everyone on steamgifts
i think it depends on the curcumstances
i think it keeps people in check
i think its broken and needs to be fixed
i don't care i just like free stuff

This kind of thinking only is beneficial if both sides are the same.
You want to be kind and give a chance to everyone. Everyone doesnt feel the same way.
Bunch are leechers. Rule breakers. Resellers who trade away key you just gave to them. People who are after only cards.
And in the end by thinking your doing a good thing, you only took away a chance from someone who truly wanted the game but didnt get it.

I much more prefer to give for higher level - show some initiative - humble costs 1 dollar. After a time you could get several levels without spending much.. And I think thats better then someone who doesnt even consider of being part of community..

MY EYES! MY EYES ARE BURNING!

I like to giveaway to the forum mostly(not that I give away frequently, but whatever), and my whitelist consists in folks that contribute in a positive way to the community(or just by not complaining about everything and making other people laugh).

The system has some flaws, but it keeps the machine running so no further complaints.

Plus we can't please greeks and... troyans, troians, trojans... those other guys.

As long as it's within the rules of the site, I don't care who gives what to whom.

after all this is also a site to make new friends and play games together

This is a giveaway site. Those other things are by-products.

It would be great if SG requires the person adding you to their blacklist to provide a reason. At least, I could change/adjust my comments to avoid getting on other people's blacklists.

Not knowing why is frustrating since you feel like you are getting punished without an explanation.

That would be interesting, and possibly really constructive.

I feel that whitelists and invites only should be used for making "special" GA's (like group GA's or Friends or whatever), rather than to exclude people and I feel the same about levels, because to be honest, the last time I checked, this website was called SteamGIFTS, not SteamTRADES, so the whole 'Only-give-to-those-who-have-themselves-given-away-alot' is not the end-all answer.
Personally the only reason I use Steamgifts is because I cannot afford to really buy games, which also means I rarely have anything to give away (and I'm not going to buy 90-cent shovelware just for that either), so the whole idea gets kind of bypassed at this point.

Don't get me wrong though, it is absolutely awesome that people give away games for free, but it is not that black & white of an issue (lol, the pun..)

In the end people are of course free to do everything that is in their legal range though.

Blacklists have the same drawbacks as on every other site with a similar function: Many times people just use it to "win" an argument, or just to get rid of people with a different opinion.

Politics...

TLDR: Same pros and cons as any other website with similar concepts and functions (being used to as a weapon in arguments etc., and Levels + similar are used to exlude certain people instead of rewarding 'exceptional' people) but in the end it is up to each person themselves to do whatever they can within their legal limits, wheter debatable or not.

PS. As others have said, this website is unfortunally going downwards though, and the stats of the website tell a similar story.
PS2. There are some really, really nice people on this website too.
PS3. One person giving away a leftover crapware once in a while is understandable, but when it becomes a deliberate or exclusive business, then it has really started to hit the fan.

Why do you hate that? It's not like there is a limit to geting whitelisted.

Its faking the stats. Im on 300+ whitelists but only see the same 4+ users.

Maybe they whitelist you just because they like you or won your GAs. It's not a bad thing to be liked you know :P
Though if they don't make whitelist GAs it would be really hard to find who whitelisted you I guess.

Maybe you should just write "Don't whitelist me if you won't make whitelist GAs" in your giveaway descriptions :D

The level system is broken, so I kinda understand people trying to fix it in their own ways. I wouldn't have written this a few months ago, but one of my latest GA winners has a 6 level and a 10:1 win/give ratio... That's not cool.

Where is the "I don't see any problem with this" option?

I don't really pay attention to Whitelist or Blacklist.
I mostly do group giveaways where I won something or I'm an admin there.
