When someone win a game and it is received, it might be a good idea to automatically add this game permanently to the user game list. The user won't be able to enter a game if he already win, no need for sync, this may also help against regifter and fake giveaway.

Also, when a game is marked as received, lock the choice after 2 weeks or 1 month.

I think there should be alternate list. Prevent entry's, but don't add it to list. Then occasionaly compare these lists and suspend users with problems...

Maybe not suspend them, but don't allow them to enter any giveaway until the game appear on their account or they have contacted support to sort the issue if there was actually a problem. Technically, the first sync after they clicked received should show the game. (Wouldn't work for DLC but better than no check at all)

The received checkbox would have to be locked though, because abusers will simply uncheck it to be able to enter giveaways again.

good idea
don't let them join new giveaways until they add the game in steam library :)

Very good idea.

Also, after the winner has marked the game as received, automatically remove entries in all giveaways of this game.

^ This, prevents both fraud and people who forget to get out of giveaways if they entered more than one.

and if it turns out to be a fake giveaway, it will enrage the "winner" because not only did they not get the game, but all their chances to get the game were just removed. Good thought, but it won't work because of the trollgifters

don't mark it as received

If you mark the giveaway as received when it's not... then maybe you deserve to be locked out of future giveaways.

But if clicked by mistake and it locks up after a while, they would have to write a support ticket to get it fixed. It's better to have a few idiots write to support than a bunch of scammers unchecking their received status to enter more giveaways.

Who marks as received when he didn't received?

Then mark the game as not received...

And, if the winner has won multiple copies at the same time (!), when one is marked as received, automatically reroll the others...

The info is already in the database, the code juts needs to check if the game was ever won and marked as received before giving you the opportunity to enter.

Even if this idea is put to use, he could theoretically still trade the game away for personal profit

"they" not "he"... coming from someone who has lost a lot of money to both men and women (mostly the ladies though x.x)

Doesn't prevent the person to trade the game but prevent him/her to enter another giveaway for the same game. Still better than nothing.

I agree with both suggestions.

I don't think steamgifts can do that. Steam always lets the user choose what to do with his/her new game and it would be hard for steamgifts as a third party site to change that!
But if possible, it will be a great change. I promise the number of entries in giveaways drop significantly (because of obvious reasons).

If you go to http://www.steamgifts.com/sync, you'll see the game that Steamgifts know you have.

Short of hacking into the persons computer, you can't.

There is no way for Steam, let alone SteamGifts, to force a user to activate a game on their account.
Therefore, the only way that this would be possible is to gain remote access to their computer and activate it.

I think the thread creator is saying that once a gift is won on here, it automatically goes to the list of owned games that can be viewed on Steamgifts, not automatically added to their library on Steam.

Personally, I think this idea is on the right track, it's not quite there yet though.
My opinion is that if a gift is marked as received, if the user has not activated it on their account by the next sync, something along the lines of a warning or suspension will occur.
