It seems that entries high spiked lately on most giveaways in general. Curious as to why there is a jump in SteamGifts popularity?

Oh, that time frame, you mean. Sorry, I haven't really noticed a noticeable uptick apart from the past few days but it would make sense for it to have lasted longer.

  • A rush of Multiaccounts/Multiaccounters
  • Maybe advertised on a site or a forum
  • Lesser public GA's = the ones that can only enter them have more points = enter more of them

That would be my bets, without to check the stats if i am correct with the third.

Ps.:
I recommend you, to always use a level restriction, of at least level 1, for public GA's. Each one that gave 1, not free, game away are at that level and it will close out the worst users (40% of the level 0 users have infractions). Plus it will reduce for you as gifter, the problems with your winners. And maybe it animate a few to make, at least one, GA(s) ;o)

Since those 20-50P asset flips started to show up and with SG team's very slow response to them it usually takes about 30-40 cents to get an alt Steam account to $100 unbundled value. So I would'n't be surprised if we have had more multi accounts / botters lately.

Since the point system changed a while ago to not be independent of the actual number of giveaways being created, there can be periods where there is a point overflow compared to the giveaways people regularly enter, which would spill over onto other giveaways, creating spikes of more entries. Therefore it does not necessarily mean that popularity increased since it could be caused by the exact opposite.

I have to agree with Masafor many users seem to (miss)understand SG as a free game dispensary without the slightest intention to give anything back to the community.
So it is sound advice to put some restrictions in place. Resulting in less trouble with the winners of your GAs and better chances for people entering as there are way less entries a win-win in my book.

my best guess actually would be, it´s kinda "silly season" between spring break & summer sales. therefore less GAs overall but more entries on each ..
in my experience GA-density reaches its peak in the time between Halloween and Lunar New Year

I’ve actually noticed the opposite, many group and level 2+ giveaways seem to be getting less entries than usual. Maybe people are going more for level 0 giveaways?

I noticed the same in some groups but I'd say mostly that's about the lack of bundles and the massive rebundling that's been going on.
With fewer bundles and the bundles containing a lot of games that have gone round and round already, people who buy bundles are less likely to enter GAs for it.

It's obviously different in public GAs for reasons, mostly people entering a lot of public GAs and never making GAs don't buy bundles.
