I don't understand why you are flaming people for doing free key drops? there's an entire thread dedicated to it even. These people aren't making Giveaways for the games... they are just dropping free codes. This isn't against the rules. What IS against the rules is making giveaways for free game codes.

yes, but not everyone looks at the FAQs, so it's good to clarify where you get your information because even some of my friends who have been here for several months didn't know exactly what you were quoting.

How are they using it as a giveaway? This doesn't qualify as a GA here. It's a drop. I mean, if they claimed a key and forgot they owned it (as people do when they have large libraries) what are they supposed to do. Just sit on the key and never use it?
I'm just curious what your rationale is. :)
Isn't it better someone gets the key? Who can then appreciate it and the dev gets recognition? Who then might write a review at some point?

I think these forums count as a Social network which is against their rules I feel people should be following their rules It's like someone winning a key on steamgifts here then giveaway on the a different forum just feel that rules show be followed
as for "I mean, if they claimed a key and forgot they owned it (as people do when they have large libraries) what are they supposed to do" To me people should know what games they own or don't I can't imagine someone going oh yeah I want that game looks really cool but have already got it in the past seems like they must have not been that interested in it not to remember but It's pretty easy to just check your library before going ahead & trying to get a copy for a game really

He's not using it for a giveaway in a Steam group or social network. What they mean by that is that they don't want you farming their giveaway keys to use in your own giveaways (to get follows, likes, page views, etc)
He's just dropping a key here.

Not in the sense that they mean, nor is he misusing the key in the way that they mean.
The reason they give away these games is to get likes, follows, retweets, group members, and such. They've already got what they wanted from User321 (and many others), and they gave him a key for his effort.
They don't want people taking those keys and using them as incentive for likes, follows, and group members for their own groups. There are bots that eat 100's, if not 1000's of those keys up and then use them in giveaways for other sites (I know of several Steam groups that do exactly this).
