Hello. I am trying to get a good game that relates to something like Total War but involves like the whole world. To sum it up: I am trying to find a Real Time Strategy War Game that involves world domination on your own country. Kind of like Total War and Plague Inc. Evolved.

If anyone finds a game related to this. THANK YOU! I need a new game. My 235$ is collecting dust you know. :D

Thanks.

I used to play both Empire Earth I and Empire : Dawn of a new World, when I was younger. Still, only the first Empire Earth is worth it to me, as the two laters are not as good as the first.

CIV V is very easy to play, i can teach you the basics if you want ^^

You might like CIV, but you might not like it because of it is more focused on your empire instead of your army. While it has a huge army focus, you need to keep your empire in check too.

maybe Try one of the other CIV games first like III or IV or that new Space one which is quite different I heard but CIV V is really good from what i have heard about it

Me and some friends have just started playing Age of Empires 3 again, but you could try Europa Universalis 4. the learning curve might be steep but its well worth it.

Rise of nations has a risk map and battles are real time like age of empires
Dawn of war dark crusade has a world map (but it's not earth) and battles are like starcraft
Defcon has a world map but the objective is to kill the most civies (instead of conquering)
Hearts of iron has the world map, in a WWII setting, it has a hard learning curve but it fits what you are looking for.
King arthur plays like total war but with more RPG mechanics (has only britain map)
tom clancy's end war has a world map and it's an RTS without base building

those are the games that i remember

I really like Age of Empires II for RTS, but don't think that will be the case.

The only RTS games I know of is Warcraft, Starcraft, Command and Conquer and Age of Empires Franchises.

What about Civilization series? If not, I don't know what are you really looking for, and my advice would be "stick to total war games" or something like that.

How about Europa Universalis 4. You can war your way into a world conquest or use your diplomatic ways to annex your neghbours.

Any of the grand scale games like you described will be turn based. If you enjoyed one of the Total War games and you want that style then I'd recommend checking out other games in the Total War series.

Here are some of my favorite RTS games which I would also recommend.

C&C Red Alert (You can get all the C&C games in a bundled pack, retail or on Origin).
Warcraft 2 (you'll need DOS Box to get it running on a modern OS)
Warcraft 3
Star Craft (works fine on modern OS's)
Star Craft 2
Age of Empires 2 HD (on steam)
Age of Mythology (also a remastered version on steam)
Company of Heroes
Company of Heroes 2

I'd also highly recommend spending more time with Civ. It can be daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is a lot of fun and will give you the world conquering that you are after, although it is turn based.

Age of Empires 2 and Warcraft 3 I can really recommend. The latter even more if you get a few friends to join you via LAN play and download some custom maps like Risk and Footmen Wars.

Risk really fits into your (OP) whole country domination ideal too :D

  1. With world domination:
    • Command and Conquer series - all the older games are freeware, and the campaign is something like world domination. Red Alert 2 I recommend.
    • Civilization V - when talking world domination, that's the game. It's the most epic in scale, but yeah, it's big, so there're things to learn.
    • Europa Universalis games - different games are set in different historic eras - take the one you like most and off you go to dominate the world.
  2. Without world domination:
    • Men of War series - that's an WW2 simulation RTS without base building - so you may not waste you time on bases, and just command units around.

Yeah, old school 2D RTS titles still rock for me. Cossacks made a mess with the 2nd version though. LOL, I included 0AD just in case he'd like to try opensource. BTW, Empires Dawn of the Modern World is a great title as you posted earlier, I forgot its name.
