Is Humble copying the indie competition?
Quite a few games but there are DLC and even free games included...

I'm really considering this as this would be a great oppourtunity to finally consider my first Football Manager since 2012
I was really playing the sh## out of the series in the 2000s.
Question regarding the 1 month of humble choice: I created a gift link of this after buying the COVID-19 bundle which I didn't redeem yet.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to create another gift link and get two monthly bundles after that?

I'm actually surprised there's no thread for a split yet, I was expecting at least a dozen... (in the GroupBuys group).

By the way, any thoughts on the charities involved?
NAACP Legal Defense Fund
he NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans.
.
Race Forward
Founded in 1981, Race Forward brings systemic analysis and an innovative approach to complex race issues to help people take effective action toward racial equity. Founded in 2002, CSI catalyzes community, government, and other institutions to dismantle structural racial inequity and create equitable outcomes for all. In 2017, Race Forward united with Center for Social Inclusion to become the new Race Forward.
Race Forward is home to the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE), a national network of local government working to achieve racial equity and advance opportunities for all. Race Forward publishes the daily news site Colorlines and presents Facing Race, the country’s largest multiracial conference on racial justice.
.
The Bail Project
The Bail Project is a non-profit organization designed to combat mass incarceration by disrupting the money bail system, one person at a time. The Bail Project work with local partners to open dozens of sites in high-need jurisdictions and pay bail for tens of thousands of low-income people, reducing the human suffering caused by unaffordable cash bail and building on the work of grassroots groups and movements for decarceration and racial justice.
I would distribute the payment according to the real effectiveness of them, or the level of political ties they have. "The Bail Project" sounds a bit strange, I'm not sure I like the idea of bailing someone out of jail just because of low-income or race.
The comics and books included seem nice, too but I don't get some of them, especially "The Rust Programming Language", shouldn't that be "Reprogramming The Rust Language"? (´ڡ`)
Comment has been collapsed.
I was curious and I checked their FAQ. I guess it's a complex debate but...
The Bail Project, Inc. does not disqualify people based on the type of charge alone. People held on cash bail are presumed innocent by law and have been deemed eligible for pretrial release by a judge, contingent on paying bail. At the point where we come in, the only factor keeping a person in jail is poverty. Our intervention allows people who cannot afford bail to return home to their families and communities while awaiting their court dates — something that a wealthier person or someone who can pay a commercial bail bond agency would be in a position to do.

having that bail one in a bundle again is one of the main reasons i would never support a bundle like this
.
.
i did of course buy the itch bundle because i am not mad
from the itch bundle:
All proceeds will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Community Bail Fund split 50/50.
Seems like your "never" is super easy to be bought ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can choose which charities your money goes to, if you'd like! There are sliders at the bottom of the bundle page. You can give all your money to the charity (or charities) of your choice.
Comment has been collapsed.
They do have a point, especially since people with money, held on the same charges, can just walk away free and others with low income get to sit in jail before they are even convicted of any crime, let alone sentenced.
Of course, it's a complex issue especially when it comes to re-offenders.
Comment has been collapsed.
Heh you should educate yourself about the bail system if you're going to be a fundamentalist against charities who are trying to change it, man. Since you're in the UK, I don't even know why you're so opposed to it but let's just suppose you're in the US
1) You are ALREADY paying for it when someone else "does a crime".
American taxpayers shell out over 14 billion dollars a year to pay for people who have not yet been sentenced to be in jail. You thought putting people in jail was free?
If the bail system was canceled, it would cost people no money at all, unlike the current system.
2) There are, right now, 3 categories of people who are faced with bail:
3) Being white has nothing to do with the Bail Project. They pay for people who don't have enough money to pay their bail. They don't discriminate on the basis of race. They are hardly to blame if most poor offenders are people of color, the justice system and the US society is.

I don't really know what it has to do with the points I was enumerating and the argument you were making but sure ok, you didn't like New York. I don't give a toss one way or another where people like to be or not, tbh. I'm not insecure so I don't need everyone to conform to my idea of what's fun, good or right.
Comment has been collapsed.
Dude, you're the one whining about a charity that doesn't operate in your country and is against something that doesn't exist as such in your country. Don't ask me why I'm arguing about the American bail system. Ask yourself why you're bitching about it if you're not American.
and do you really think a trail is free if the senescent isn't jail
Totally irrelevant to the debate about the bail system but no I don't and I also don't care. Everyone has a right to due process and the cost of trial is unavoidable. Bail or not.
I still don't think you have any idea what you're talking about.
Comment has been collapsed.
No indeed it doesn't. It's not my country either by the way. I'm Canadian.
However you keep demonstrating you know nothing about it and always answer arguments about it with a bizarre post that has nothing to do with it so all in all, you're the one showing you don't know about it.
And again you're rambling about something completely irrelevant.
To sum it all up: You're the one who said "i still don't get why someone else should pay if i do a crime (being white i would not be paid for)"
So I explained to you that even if you WERE American in the first place, nobody expects anybody to pay when someone else commits a crime and that in fact the bail system costs more to people than a no-bail system.
And I refuted the fact that you, poor white man that you are, would not be bailed out if you "did a crime" because the Bail Project has nothing to do with race.
You ignore all my arguments and launched into statements about where you live, not liking New York and trials not being free... to which I say you seem to have no idea what you're talkng about as this has nothing to do with what we're discussing here.
Anyway, have a nice life and enjoy Brexit.

Equality yes but still on the wrong end of "innocent until proven guilty" which is supposed to be the basis of the US justice system.
And that wouldn't solve the problem caused by undue pressure put on people who have not yet been convicted of any crime to agree to forego a trial and plead to lesser charges, whether they are guilty or not of anything.
Comment has been collapsed.
eh, it's a bit more complex than that. innocent people get arrested. it would be really shitty to lose your job because you're sitting in jail for a month while waiting for your trial date for something you didn't even do. hell, even if you did commit a minor crime, it would suck. it only worsens the problem. getting fired and being forced to spend time surrounded by criminals is not exactly remedial. i'm sure there is some kind of diligence when choosing whom to give bail money.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thankfully, it seems they have that covered:
The Bail Project, Inc. pays bail for people who are legally presumed innocent, and whom a judge has already deemed eligible for release from jail before trial contingent on paying bail. Our local teams receive referrals from community members and public defenders, and conduct interviews in jails. We determine eligibility for free bail assistance based on a person’s bail amount, the reliability of contact information, and a track record of prior court appearances, if applicable. We also conduct an individualized needs assessment to determine whether we can adequately support the person through our network of community partners and social service providers.

"Wow, it's a mad world..."
Exactly my thought, the more segments I watch from that channel and nearly all are from America:x
That said, from what other investigative posters in this thread have provided, I'm glad to see that the program isn't racially oriented as I would feel that is being too exclusive...and they do their due diligence before deciding on how to allocate the funds.

Besides the justice system the level of corruption and self-comptent of the US law forces (even if they're part of the "justice system") is infuriating. If they believe they have the right guy, they'll go for it even if they're making huge mistakes in their investigation. It's like they're blinded and need to go after a specific individual, ignoring other leads or evidence that doesn't fit in their narrative.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah and the political pressure to "get results", which basically means "lock up anyone to get nice looking stats for my next political run" doesn't help investigations either. Not to mention all the private jails handing out money to judges, attorneys and governors on both side of the political aisle for their campaigns to make sure their jails stay full and paid for by taxpayers and clients who use their prisoners as slave labor.

This video is what put me over the edge and made me decide to buy the bundle. (This and I certainly don't want Justseedy's $2.50 from his Itch.io purchase to feel lonely).
Sadly, this all really happens., and sadly when most people hear the word "bail", they assume the worst of the accused.

"Itch.io purchase to feel lonely)." I giggled at that, thank you ^^
The first time it came to my attention such an exploitative thing was happening really surprised me (and yet it shouldn't). It's a big culture shock to see how things are done between countries sometimes.
Personally, I just try to trust on the charities. A group of people that invest their time and effort in the "frontlines" are certainly more in the know of the intricacies of these things than a couch potato like me.
Comment has been collapsed.
The entire system definitely needs an overhaul, but until then it's up to those of us who can to do what we can, I suppose.
Thank you very much for posting the video. It adds a whole new perspective I hadn't yet considered, and new perspective is always a good thing. :)

I agree, though I generally prefer to take those in with comedy, hence alot of my news about the US come from that channel. Sometimes, some topics are so shitty that I need to take it in with some laughter, if that makes sense.
Happy that you took the time to watch it, thank you aswell ^^

Sadly, this all really happens., and sadly when most people hear the word "bail", they assume the worst of the accused.
Innocent until proven guilty is unfortunately a concept most people do not understand. I can't remember the source but I saw a poll that was conducted by the Innocence Project and another charity for Justice that polled people who had served as jurors. Over 70% of them were trapped into admitting that one of the things that would make them think someone is guilty of a crime is "being arrested by the police"... which is the exact opposite of innocent until proven guilty. Being charged is not evidence of a crime.

LOL, I was just telling Mully about being "detained" in college and questioned because I had long black hair, a black jacket and fit the description of a burglar for whom they were looking.
For some reason, it was tough for them to understand how I had been hungry and decided to walk up the street to get a sandwich. Because, you know, all burglars travel by foot, hope no one notices they're carrying a television, and bring a lunch..

And with a description like that, it's a good thing they weren't close to a biker's bar or a metal concert. Way more suspects would have complicated things a bit.

"The Bail Project" sounds a bit strange, I'm not sure I like the idea of bailing someone out of jail just because of low-income or race.
They don't bail people out based on race, just income; this has a racial impact because there are more poor black people in the system, but they don't select for it.
And look at it from the other perspective - is it fair that someone who has not been found guilty (ie. they still have the presumption of innocence) has to sit in jail simply because they're too poor to pay for bail, while richer people would walk free until trial? Many of them lose their job due to missing work on account of being in jail - and they don't get it back just because they're found innocent later on. That means a false accusation can destroy lives even if they're later found innocent - and it disproportionately pressures poor people to plead guilty to crimes they didn't commit just to get out of jail faster, which causes even more problems.
Comment has been collapsed.
Indeed - and the longer someone languishes in jail the harder it becomes to actively draw attention to their plight, if they are truly innocent; and all because poverty meant that they did not have the same access to a bailbond agent that someone in a better financial position does. It also tends to end up with the person sitting in a jail being at greater risk from harm, whilst being at home might not.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, I understand it. I guess I meant that the "Get Out of Jail Free" card shouldn't be handled in all cases. I'm not speaking of minor crimes or violations (like Spudette pointed above), I was thinking of more serious crimes like, I don't know, rapists or murderers. Since they state in their FAQ that:
The Bail Project, Inc. does not disqualify people based on the type of charge alone.
I really don't know what their policy is on that type of crimes. If someone is accused of rape, I don't want him out on the streets just because "it's fair" to pay the bail since a rich rapist would be able to do so.
Anyway, maybe I'm making much fuzz about this because I'm not sure how bailing works. I think the bail is returned when the person goes to trial and it's purpose is to ensure that the person will appear on trial. In that case, I do understand why such an organization is useful to prevent people lives from being ruined because of their inability to pay their bail.
I guess that the key points here are the presumption of innocence and that the bail is returned when the person doesn't skip trial (in which case you can reuse the money for other cases).
Comment has been collapsed.
That means a false accusation can destroy lives even if they're later found innocent - and it disproportionately pressures poor people to plead guilty to crimes they didn't commit just to get out of jail faster,
And that certainly profit state attorneys running for election with slogans like "tough on crime" to have a "high rate" of convictions, whatever the hell that has to do with actual justice.

People do. I've bought the Jingle Jam one for a cancer charity, and the Australia Fire relief one and both were around 30 euros. When they are for a good cause, why not. ;)
Although, I'm less likely to buy this one. I don't have a lot of disposable income right now, so might pass.

now if this bundle didn't have steam keys, that argument would be moot of course.

True. Still I bought the $5 itch.io bundle despite not having Steam keys because the content was way better than the other $40 itch.io bundle (which had Steam keys).
On the other hand the contents for this bundle are not so bad for the price. I haven't done the math but all the unbundled games at their historical lowest prices already should be near the bundle price. Plus you receive a few interesting books and comics. And the unexpected soundtracks. Aaaand, last but not least, charity :P

Good bundle (but price is high). Some negative things at last in my case:
Football Manager 2020 is a big surprise for me. There are some other good or "would like to try" bonus games like Realpolitiks, Elite Dangerous and some smaller things like dlc for darkest dungeon) I still dont have. This is tempting but mainly bacause Football Manager 2020 in my case... If only I had not so many games from it...

imagine they put football manager and 2k and east hockey in the 30 dollar tier and then the rest in say a 10 dollar tier. That might be more appealable.

With 3 tiers like the normal bundles i´m happy to buy it because I that think 30 dollars it´s too expensive fo what it offers the bundle.
I have the half of the games and the other stuff I don´t have interest in it so this bundle is an easy pass for me.
