I hate that crap in Germany.

Just nice deals on steam and a single game is not displayed, and this is of course again 'Dead Island'. I would finally like to buy, no matter how, but I can do it i get only from abroad, that is why I think, I get the game never.

I hope that the USK hopefully will be abolished, I will finally can play freely.

It is just as someone like me?

Excuse me for my lousy english, it is not my mother language.

Do the laws stop you from activating the copies of said game as well ? If not, you can just buy it from, say, Amazon.

If I remember rightly, the Amazon copy is region-restricted to the US.

Blimey, now I do remember people reporting this. Well, Amazon isn't the only alternative.

Dead Island in Germany may not be sold, because it is indexed.

wrong, advertising and public showing is forbidden. Selling 'under the counter' is still allowed.

Get it from outside of Steam or just pirate it if it's not available to you legally anyways.

Dead Rising is a very different case to Dead Island. Dead Island does not have regional restrictions. They just didn't publish it and it got indexed (you must not advertise/sell it to minors). You could still buy it as an adult, if Steam had an age verification and Deep Silver publishes it.
Dead Rising on the other hand got confiscated (you can't advertise/sell it to anyone, but you may own it) and Capcom themselves do not allow playing it in Germany, even if you bought it abroad.

Such dir einen Ösi-Shop wie Gameware.at. Da lässt du dir die Version auf DVD schicken und aktivierst ganz normal bei Steam. Das ist dort auch billig, da braucht es keinen speziellen Sale.

It's terrible, but it is not the fault of the USK.
The publisher didn't want to publish Dead Island on the German market. Because of that Valve is not selling it there. Of course Deep Silver didn't release it due to the child protection laws in Germany, but in this case they didn't even try.
You can also blame Valve at least a little bit. If they had a working age verification system, they could sell most titles in Germany uncut to adults. Probably some publishers would then even publish their games (for adults only).

BTW: There is a large Steam group for that topic: "for UNCUT!".

It's still not that easy with a age verification system when the game gets on the index. Besides I don't think Dead Island would just get on the list,I am pretty sure it would be also confiscated like L4D2. That would mean that even with 18+ you still would not be allowed to buy the game here.

Edit: Ok,just read that Dead Island was removed from Liste B,so confiscation isnt a matter anymore. Still JuSchG could be a problem, but one could argue about that.

I don't think so. They confiscated the INTERNATIONAL version of L4D2 in Germany. It took them 3 months. Dead Islands international version is "only" indexed. I don't think they would rerate the game that long time after its release. Very few games are confiscated in Germany. Left4Dead2, Mortal Kombat II, Dead Rising, Manhunt...
...most other games are only indexed.

ofc they confiscated the international one. The german one is cut and not in any form restricted here, why comparing it to a uncut Dead Island. Dead island is now Liste A,but it was on Liste B. Dont know why they changed it,doesnt matter.

No, I would never risk my acc with almost 300 games for a game which I need to active with vpn.

could you check what the exact name was during activation?

Yay, protest government restrictions by not paying the developer who has stated that they hate the law and hope people circumvent it.

The point is to prove the censorship ineffective and even harmful - it fails at stopping people from accessing the restricted content and it hurts developers.

But do you have any source on the Dead Island devs making that statement?

Amazon copy isn't region locked, I bought many games from Amazon and I live in Croatia. It's very cheap on Amazon now anyway, so even if it doesn't work, create a giveaway in here! (But I'm sure it will work)

Croatia does not equal Germany. Just because a game can be activated/played in one region doesn't mean it can be in others.

Most games aren't region locked on Amazon. But Dead Island (and maybe CivilizationV ?) were region locked.

If you need uncensored games or games not available in germany contact me on steam (Skyrant Kangaroomouse). I can get you the game for a fair price, usually even cheaper than in germany.
