This is a good reference point, it means that after 1000 you can go straight for 2500.

In the main thread (as I understood it) they say maxiumum raise is 1/3 of the current value so: 100->133.
But it seams its x3...

That's how I just got one (if no one with more than 2500 points shows up in the next 30 minutes). I waited until someone bid more than 833 and then bid 2500, like a maniac refreshing the page to make sure I was first.

I don't think you can keep it to yourself. If it gets less than 5 entries they can re-auction it.

I think you understood it wrong. It's not 1/3, it says

Every bid has to be greater than the last one, and can't be bigger than a triple of the current one.

Triple having the meaning of

three times as much or as many.
