New Artimis Fowl trailer dropped

Not sure what is up with Kenneth Branagh, looking back he sure seemed a promising director.

I only read the first book. I remember Artemis being a lot more of the self-assured huckster than he seems to be here. Is this based on a prequel or something? I remember thinking Butler and his daughter were the best bits.

(Also, I remember bad puns: "LEP Recon unit". This movie doesn't seem to be leading with humor though.)

I have read only the first three books and that was about 15 years ago but this looks nothing like how I remember it. I liked the fact that Artemis was not a clear cut good guy, at least from the get go, but people who wrote the script for this movie sure seem to have gotten a different idea (or at least that's what it looks like from the trailer). Gonna wait for the whole thing before making any judgements but this sure does not look appealing at all from what I have seen so far.

awww, and i enjoyed the books very much, getting ender's game done all over again....

The first book caught me hook, line and sinker back then, and I've been a fan of the cocky child prodigy since, but this... this is just so wrong. It's like they basically take a generic boy-saves-world movie plot and just stamp the Artemis Fowl name on it. When will they learn to gather feedback/input from actual fans of the book first before making something like this? Wait... don't tell me the answer... it's "Never" ☹️

I remember reading the first two, maybe three books. I’m pretty sure there were talks of making them into movies in the late 90s/ early 00s? Surprised it’s happening now to be honest.

I read every book and the companion. (Haven't read the spinoff that came out, The Fowl Twins. It's on my reading list). My sister showed me this and I wanted to shatter my phone, buy a new one, and shatter that one. Everything is wrong, from Artemis's persona to the basic story line, the fact that the Gnommish alphabet is wrong, the fact that Artemis's father DID NOT know about the fairies before Artemis did... Disney had one chance to make an excellent, unique contestant to Harry Potter, and they completely blew it. I will watch it on Disney+ just to see how much they mess it up, but I would never pay to see it in theaters, and I am glad they missed out on the box office revenue.
