Yup, that sums it up. As level 0 you have as much chances to win as anyone else in the same GA, but the GAs you can enter all have a very large amount of participants.

I have won my first or maybe first two games as level 0. It is just a small chance, especially since there are a million registered users and level 0/level 1 are filled to the brim with auto-entry bots that fill up the entry list of most giveaways.

More like an educated guess.
For example: If a user is online 24/7 (often in 20 - 30 minute intervals) that usually points to a bot in my experience.
But there are many other ways to tell... talgaby has been doing some experiments on it.

Maybe consistent intervals suggest something, I dunno---but just being online 24/7 only tells you they've left a tab open.
,,,or I'm a bot programmed to think it's human and does stuff, while actually here. always here. O_O

I didn't mean for a day or two but rather extended periods of time like several weeks ;)

You're in a desert, walking along in the sand when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise. It's crawling toward you.
You reach down and flip the tortoise over on its back.
The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over. But it can't. Not with out your help. But you're not helping.
Why is that ?

"...just being online 24/7 only tells you they've left a tab open."
That is incorrect... you could leave a tab open all day and it wouldn't show that you're online - unless the page is refreshed, you go to a different page, or you simply open a separate tab to SG. You can test it yourself by leaving a tab open for 30 mins or so (due to there being a delay in showing when someone is offline), and then open your SG profile in incognito/private mode.

Oh? If that's the case for the site normally, then I guess I just mistook something actually related to a site mod or mod setting, likely a header-refresher (updating win notifications, messages, points etc), and they're pretty widely used.

That's indeed a good indicator as well.
Although one time somebody who I suspected of using a bot because they had more entries in 4 month than I've had in 2 years actually convinced me that they are not by explaining that they've been basically living on SG during that time and not picky about what they enter :D

Oh no, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying the guy you were talking about wasn't a bot.
I just wanted to point out that all the methods I've seen so far are just educated guesses. I haven't seen a definitive way to tell yet.

I could have probably picked that up by the Checkmate ;)
That's true. I've had something similar a few weeks ago where I went ballistic when the other guy was just teasing me :D

but it's entirely possible, really. I remember 3.5 years ago I basically lived on SG for 4-5 months. I broke a knee which is really serious leg injury and for first 3 months I couldn't even get out of bed - eating, peeing, shitting, taking bath etc - everything in bed with your leg hanging 50 cm above to avoid any potential injury. So in this time all I had was my old crappy laptop (I couldn't even get up to sit in front of PC) and books. So I was on SG for like 12+ hours a day (well not just SG, but SG + Steam chats + making my stupid puzzles). So I can imagine someone sitting on SG all the time, because it's what I did back then ;p

Indeed. Actually even without a good excuse like being bedridden I've had days where I spent almost as much time on SG.
I almost managed to "escape" last month (only 16 comments in July) but today my addiction brought me back :D

Yeah, but your number of comments probably puts you on the safe side. (Unless they're all generic script Thank Yous :P)
But as I said I've seen several different approaches but haven't seen a surefire way to tell yet so they're all just educated guesses ;)

24/7 (often in 20 - 30 minute intervals)
If you add being suspended for more than one month, and being online in 30 minutes chunks during the suspension, to this, you got a bot for sure :/
Comment has been collapsed.
Sadly not. I'm not sure if the problem is that it's very hard to tell for sure or if they are silently tolerated by cg because they cause a constant flow of traffic to the site enhancing ad revenues but bots have been a problem for years and nothing has been done about it.

Right now, only by hiding invite-only giveaways.
As for the magnitude, I'd like to show this giveaway that inadvertently now calls out for real humans to say something. So far 6 confirmed actual people showed up out of 371 entries. This is the chances you have against potential bots.

"As for the magnitude, that this giveaway"
Either you are very good at hiding, or me very bad at finding, or you are missing a link

Lol i don't even get a thank you after giveaway is won let alone having everyone comment before hand :)

I've won 10 gifts, including a couple of AAA games. Exactly one of those was level-restricted.

Back in May I won a level 0 giveaway out of 3046 participant users and the creator disappeared and didn't send the game. So the risk is greater with level 0 ones but it also feels nice when you're playing against the odds :).

There are the lvl 0 I won, while being a lvl 0 at the time.

Also, if you're a lvl 0 and don't want to see lvl1+ on your giveaways list, just use the configurations menu

not a single bot(probably),
Hah! You wish. Less bots is a more accurate phrase. Bots are pretty much confirmed to at least level 8 and even dozens of level 10s use various automated or simplified entry methods that may be bots, may be simple userscripts for 1-click entry.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's possible. I've won level 0 giveaways too. It's just a bit harder to win them because of all the participants. And people tend to make giveaways for higher levels or with a lot of restrictions, so the level 0 giveaways keep decreasing.

I was lvl 0 when I won my first game, it was a public GA with nearly 900 entries.
If you enter a lot of GAs eventually you'll win one. You just have to be very patient and accept the fact you probably won't win THAT game that's on top of your wishlist

BTW, there's also the groups giveaways. If you're under 7 wins, you can enter Unlucky 7, which is a good way to star winning some games you really want.

And additionally, there's Playing Appreciated, where you just enter games you are interested in playing soon.

It only becomes 0% if you don't enter the raffle. It's just like wishing wanting to win lotto but you don't buy lotto ticket.

I am not a genius, but i would say everybody has the same chances..if he can join a specific giveaway.

Bot or not its still a user. If he is a bot who just leech the games but dont give anything then blacklist him, you will not miss him.

My first win was when I was level zero. I think I didn't believe that this site actually works til there.
Since then I got deeply involved because the whole SG community really brought me into the PC gaming world.

Hi Everybody,
I
m new here, and please dont feel offended by the question...but, i
m wandering...There a very few real desirable games, and i do not want to disparage minor games, i really think every giveaway is an act of kindness.
(even because i`m more indie game person then a triple AAA like) but there a lots of good games with some kind high restriction, or is it certain the impression that you have to donate more to receive?
And if a i giveaway, i will giveaway a game that i will like to play, but do not misunderstand me, it's just a question, does level 0 have already won some game that would like the wishlist for example?
Thanks for attention! :)
