"Early Access Game"

Agreed.. Im not touching any early access games, no matter how promising they look.

It's too bad though because it does look promising.
For myself its mostly the price, $6.45 could get me a sandwich that would be guaranteed to be good and i would have complete access right after the purchase.
I wouldn't hesitate spending 1 or 2 dawrer for early access, i could lose those coins in my couch,
but when i can get games that are (full) releases for $5...well, yeah..

It's Yay, as in hay, bay, nay, way. Not "Yeah."

Nope. "Yay" is an exclamation, usually connoting excitement. "Yea" means "yes," and is often used in conjunction with "nay" to ask a yes-or-no question.

...not to be confused with "yeah," which is the lazy way of saying "yes." "Yeah" rhymes with "Nah" (slang for "No") and "wah" (onomatopoeia for a baby's cry).

The Somme hasn't been showing any signs of life for some time now, so not counting Battlefield and Source mods Verdun is literally the only military shooter set in WWI on the market.

yup thought about that too, but yeah 800 players averages doesn't look so promising, i just hope it has some kind of old hardcore shooting in it, as i seriously hate BF4 and lost my faith in CoD after mw2

if you have tf2 keys you can get it for a key or so from splitting a 4 pack which is a pretty good deal

the battles are intense and fun to play, but since its early access it still has its bugs and small player base. but in my opinion they done a great job at giving it that ww1 trench warfare feeling.

Bit buggy, but really good actually. Could use some polish but is playable. Also, at Christmas you can have a snowball fight.

Personally you would have to tell us your tastes before we could give you a recommendation.

Isn't this exactly why Steam reviews exists?

no.

My bad. That's why reviews in general exists.

Maybe, but as this is still in beta it's updated so the (older) reviews might be unaccured or invalid.

I've had it since it first came out on early access, and while I haven't played it a lot or in a long time, it reminds me a lot of Red Orchestra 2, but set in WWI.

Verdun seemed to be interesting and somewhat different take on World War 1 after playing tons of BF1. However.. the game feels extremely.. "clunky" to say. It can be extremely fun in small and somewhat larger dozes but I felt.. limited by my characters actions. Movement in the game felt sluggish, sometimes slightly unresponsive. The reload animations on at least some of the weapons such as pistols felt overly relaxed and slow. You really could tell that your character didn't give a rats *ss about the 10 germans rushing towards you with bayonets fixed while he slowly pushed a fresh magazine in to his pistol and pulled the slide back. The 1911 new magazine reload alone felt like it took two to three seconds which is enough to get shot multiple times. What I played it during the free "weekend" a while back did leave me a some what positive feeling for the game, but I really wish they would make movement and some of the animations more fluid and faster sometimes. If I were being run down by huns with bayonets fixed I surely wouldn't leisurely pull out a fresh magazine from my pants pocket, slowly slide it in to my gun and in a some what relaxed way slowly pull the pistol slide back to chamber a round.
