Okay, took me a while to whittle it down...
I started with sixteen quarter finalists, got that down to twelve, then 6, then did some Google-Fu to get my final four.
Some thoughts on my picks:
4, Dreamy, I played Bastion, I did not make it far, but the pictures always make me want to try again. Love the perspective, colours, and depth of field :)
28, Nice composition, good ink, love the subdued colours. :)
34, It's fun, it's got great colouring, it is relevant. :)
38, More great colouring, simple and effective.
Honourable mentions:
6, Really nice! Would have been my winner if it was purpose made.
11, This one was most difficult to cull. It looks awesome, I love the composition and the effort put into colouring it. Actually I looked at my final four while typing this to see if I could switch one for this....argh, I'm sorry. :/
17, Great colours, very soft, and a nice pose. If it was purpose made it would have been top 4. :)
18, Great detail there, it is pencil...right? Don't answer till after voting is done ;) That must have taken quite a bit of pencil sharpening :P
19, I love the selective focus, was that hand drawn then digitally blurred? Again, don't answer till after voting is done ;)
20, Same as #18, did you have a black hand after all that graying in? :)
25, This almost made my top 4/5, I love the line work, especially on the hands. :)
26, Just cute :) ("just" in a good way, I'm not saying it doesn't have other great qualities, it is a lovely scene showing great skill)
30, I love all the (not so) hidden references :) I love pixel art, I can almost see him sweeping :P
And everyone else I did not mention, great job, for me personally it is about my enjoyment, not the attention or reward, although I wouldn't mind a vote or two ;)

Many good, but this ones looked best for me (some hollow knight also cool). Was not sure about 38 (how much it is combined electronic pictures and how much it is manual work, but voted on the end - almost put 25 instead of 38)

The difficulty to choose that so many of the voters point out illustrates well the collective talent our artists demonstrated, regardless of level or medium! Well done indeed.

Congratulations to every single participant :)

it's sad that I had to leave so many nice ones. I would need at least x2-3 times the number of votes to include the ones that I liked!

So many great entries! Good job, everyone. Choosing just four will be hard. :D
Here's a giveaway for the voters, to motivate people a bit. :3

Super cool entries, I liked a lot of them.
The creativity in some of them was pretty cool as well (the group of characters, or the 3D mine “sweeper”For example). Others used nice colouring to make what would be simple drawings very vivid instead.
Choosing four was hard, but I will stick what I chose.
Honourable mentions to the ones I didn’t vote on - the cute candid drawing of Phoenix and Maya, miss on grid paper (was this intentional, it’s quite effective), and the great colouring of Jade.
I think the Skyrim one was my favourite. It’d be cool to see a coloured version of it.
EDIT: I'm not a great artist, but it has encouraged me to consider taking part next time this event happens :)

I'm truly amazed at how many talented artists there are! Who knew voting for 4 people could be such a tough decision, even top 10 would've been. They made me smile, kudos everyone. :D

Lol, I feel like an overconfident idiot now :D
I was so pleased with my drawing after not drawing for years, even thought of picking it up again. Thought I would definitely get into the top 6, but now no one's voting for me :D Now I'm not sure I get the chance to be in the top 12 even :D
Oh, bother :)

Pick up drawing again regardless. You don't need a contest, just share your talent :D

I was kind of joking :) Sure, you don't need a contest, but it does help with motivation. Sometimes you need an extra kick :)

Yeah, I'm with BrokenNoah on this, if you enjoy it just do it for you.
Try new things to see what you like, or practice one you like already to improve your technique/skill. It takes a long time to feel like you improved, until you compare the steps you made and notice it is the small steps that look like big strides if you blink a few times ;)

The thing is I don't like my drawing most of the time, so I lose motivation each time :) I don't draw often, so it feels like there's no progression. But I try to save all my sketches, it really helps with keeping track of your progress :)
I guess my advice to anyone who's desperate would be - keep all your drawings and give it some time. You won't see you've improved right away, but after some time you will. And it'll be much easier if you have your old drawings to compare to :)

Right :)
I know about not liking your own creations, I'm an amateur photographer that hasn't touched a camera in years because my lack of skill gets me depressed. I still own thousands of dollars worth of gear, but I struggle to pick it back up, something I have been trying to remedy the last 2 weeks.
I tried some night sky photography the other day, bad choice, it tends to look really ugly up close. So tomorrow I might try landscape, it's easier and more forgiving :)
I'm quite creative, but I have no outlet right now, so hopefully photography can be it again :)

Yeah, you don't like the results, because you don't have skills. So you're less motivated to practice. Because of that you don't get decent results and practice even less. It's a cycle :)
About gear. When I bought wacom tablet, I thought I'd be drawing more. But now I mostly use as a mouse -_- Albeit a really comfy one :) Doesn't strain your hand a bit.

The improvements are sometimes invisible which make it seem you are not making any progress. Consider this - you drew a robot for, say, two hours. You kept at it and now you can draw that same robot for half an hour. In between maybe you made the pose more dynamic, probably erased less, perhaps consider the light source, you get more confident and it kinda shows in your lines. So the robot may not look drastically different but you are consuming less time doing it. Then maybe you realize the technique you used could probably be used in other drawings as well. You become more organized, you develop a system.

I guess you're right :) I've doing more head sketches than usually lately, and I've noticed I'm getting better at it. A little bit better, a little bit faster.
Also small / quick sketches are better than big detailed paintings (at least for now). If it turns out ugly, it's bad but I've spent only 5-15 minutes on it, so it's not a big deal :) And if it's good then it boosts my confidence a bit, which is also good :) And thanks to the contest I finished something "big" for once, with colouring and all.

Aw I didn't realize the event was going on, or I would have participated, really great entries!
