could be anything ... driver error, faulty cable, shabby hdd enclosure-module, low power on the pc-case-usb3.0
connection (cheap pc case with not properly powered ports) or settings in win that save power by limiting the usb ports ...
best thing to figure it out quickly > plug it directly in one of the mainboard ports, on the backside - pc
change the energy settings on the notebook to full power, unplug unnecessary other usb's - nb
maybe re-install the latest drivers for 3.0 for your com.
if the e.hdd works on another computer properly as 3.0 its a driver / port issue / energy saving issue; if you know the pc/nb's port
is working by trying another 3.0 e.hdd/device - it might be underpowered, the cable or the hdd-enclosure-module faulty (probably)

Alright I'm gonna do my best to give you as much info as I can here. I have a Laptop so can't really plug it in on the back ( I have tried all ports though). I've changed all the energy settings to full power already. I might be able to test the drive later on a friends computer but that will take a bit of time. I'll try again for drivers but I'm 99% sure they're up to date. It may very well be the enclosure and I'm half tempted to just bite the bullet and buy another one but I'm gonna try to attempt to fix this one first. Thanks for the help!

I have few ideas, but I don't know where to start. first off, answer the guys above. I just need to identify which one is it really, I'll refer to that to narrow it down.
my biggest question is, is it really the enclosure? not the computer's usb? try plugging it to other computer if you get different results.
have a bump for now.

Ok everyone I may have made progress here. I decided to take the drive out of the enclosure and see if I can't clean anything out, and after blowing into the enclosure NES cartridge style I've got that beautiful green 3.0 indicator back. I really don't know how long it'll last but hopefully this won't happen again. Thanks for all your contributions guys :)

You can try and see if your driver certificate has changed for some reason from ur device manager, that could be it

Hey guys, my USB 3.0 capable external hard drive/ enclosure has started diverting to USB 2.0 (my indicator light tells me) and I cannot for the life of me get it to recognize my 3.0 port. It was working before and I've tried different ports, searching through my bios, pretty much everything I can think of. Not a huge deal but some help would be totally awesome.
