Well, I'm not asking anything for myself. Just check the Extra Life site and everything, they are pretty well-known. I understand your caution. It's important to research before you blindly give away money/goods, so here's some stuff to show that EL is a real charity:

I know, but the person i mentioned was also doing it for a handicapped child, even though he was doing it privately rather then it being through a well known site.
It's not so much what i think, i think it's a great cause, but maybe you should have asked support first if it was okay rather then risk a possible suspension because it might be against the rules (not saying it is or isn't, i dunno).

I can find a War child train where you linked to the war child organization site, and posted links for the DLC to a game that would donate to war child, bit different then asking straight donations (unless i missed that).
But fair enough, if you think everything is good. :)

Extra Life 2017
How charitable are SteamGifters?
https://www.extra-life.org/participant/CharityGames
For The Kids!
Extra Life is a well-known fundraising initiative that raises money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. They mostly rely on streamers and gamers, but anyone can do any event they like. Extra Life raises money for sick, injured and hospitalized kids, and managed to get millions for the poor little guys.
The 4th of November is Game Day: a day where every fundraiser does something for the kids (mostly game-related). Winter is coming, so make sure you'll get that warm feeling by helping children in a less fortunate environment. Your donation will go towards research, training, purchase of life-saving equipment and pay for uncompensated care. Together we can save lives.
Let's raise $100!
It's simple: go to this fundraiser page and donate whatever you like! Every dollar counts. TIP: put your SG profile URL in the donation message if you want to be on my whitelist. I'll add everyone <3
As you'll see on the page, I'm doing this in the name of Charity Games, my Steam group dedicated to charity. Feel free to join us!
$100 is the default and minimum amount. Can I count on you to reach that goal?
Train + more giveaways!
ALL ABOARD THE CHARITY TRAIN! (lvl 0+) - by me
Borderlands: Game of the Year (lvl 2+) - by canis39
Tattletail (lvl 1+) - by grubs
Apotheon (lvl2+) - by grubs
Maybe I'll add some stuff later. But first let's see how this all turns out.
Feel free to contribute, and please bump & donate! You can make a difference!
