Seems to be a RoW key. Activated just fine in Germany.

Because of all the controversy.

There's apparently several elements to dislike about the game beyond just the paid lootboxes, and a fair bit of that still lingers even after lootboxes were removed.

Edit: I've edited the post for better clarity.

so it's essentially not even related to the current game

They were dropped in April, yes. I was just trying to state that the element of paying for lootboxes wasn't the only criticism that drove the game down, but mechanical issues, weak campaign, and the core design of the game's lootboxes all contributed as well. The review doesn't go into it, but EA's repeated insistence on making rather greedy, fairly shameless, somewhat absurd comments on the matter also didn't help public opinion at all.

In short, the controversy is what set people against the game, but games have survived controversies before. The real issue was that everything else was stressing the customers as well, rather than being good enough to counter the influence of the controversy to some degree.

Jsyk, that review was made before they removed the lootbox mechanic so it's essentially not even related to the current game at this point.

you need an amazon.com account (not.de) and a US address.

Wrong, I just needed US address, since amazon accounts are SSO.

Interesting, didn't even know that. I made a US account years ago and have been using that whenever there is a good sale there.

Yeah, German account works just fine with US billing adress. There just is no German language available in the game, is it?

How's the sp campaign?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Shorter than the last SW film and unfinished, ending with a "it kinda-sorta continues in multiplayer, now please start grinding" message.
On the plus side, it does not feature characters who are deadly in love with chest-high walls and cannot get unstuck from them.

Heh, more like five and a half then, unless you fuck around looking at the pretty skyboxes.

yeah, about that long. HLTB says it's a good 6 hours long.

Everywhere literally says "5-7 hours, 8 hours max" LOL

Umm, that's not accurate at all. The campaign is longer than ANY Star Wars movie and the it takes place in-between the movie canon, particularly in-between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens -- there is no "it kinda-sorta continues in multiplayer, now please start grinding" you just sound like a sour apple.

You can't fool origin with changing delivery address tho. It would have cost me 10€ instead of 4€.

Anyone want to grab me a code of battlefront 2 for £4.24 in steam wallet? (can buy anything for £4.24 from steam)

Tempted, but with this pricing it's almost a certainty that this and Andromeda will be in a Humble EA bundle within probably the next year. For these, I can wait.

EA doesn't do HB anymore. Those were only to promote the launch of Origin.

EA has only done a bundle in 2013 and one in 2015. Uplay bundles kinda ended up filling the non-Steam-platform niche after that.

I'll be honest, that's not a bad deal at all. The game was a travesty when it came out, but it's also a graphical powerhouse that's supposedly still very fun to play. It's just the grindy nature of it.

I won't buy it, but I'd be tempted if Origin hadn't basically fucked me out of my account completely.

I am only interested in the campaign anyway. Honestly, I would have bought it on release, but the thing with the lootboxes and progression tied to them actually made me skip it (until now). It wouldn't even have had any impact on my singleplayer experience. But they went so over the top that I just didn't want to support that game. And I am usually the guy who thinks most of these things are not a big deal. Denuvo never stopped me from buying a game. Small ads in Street Fighter would not stop me from buying it. Microtransactions and Lootboxes were never a big concern for me personally (even though I condemn them in public), as long as I could ignore them. But Battlefront 2 was really something else.

By fact prices in USD on Amazon and on Origin absolutely identical.
