I too didn't "won" it. That's OK. I'd love to know what the winners think of the game, though.

It reminds me a lot of Lemmings, but with less stress and complexity of classes involved and more arcadish fun.
There are two classes of Dwarves to "control" (actually, to keep under control), the Diggers and the Warriors.
The Diggers... well... dig wherever they want to dig, and while they dig they collect gold for you. If they manage to dig into a gold, crystal or other mineral seam then they'll dig it all out and you'll earn much more money to spend, however, it's up to you to either direct them to a location (which costs money to do, so it's better to let them roam freely and only direct them when necessary), block them from creating an opening from which water or lava flow (game over if it reaches your Base) or save them from the Goblins (hidden in caves you uncover while digging, which might hold treasures in them).
To block the Diggers from digging into the Water and Lava pools you need to spend money to make walls (which usually help slow down certain catastrophes from happening), undiggable rock blocks (to seal away any hazard from your Mindless Diggers) and Dynamite (to create holes in which water and lava fall into).
The Warriors are there to save the Diggers but they normally patrol the main Base, so you need to create guard posts where you can place the Warriors in, train them and literally launch them towards the enemy with a cannon if need be.
Some fun situations happen where you're out of gold, didn't manage to fully seal off a lava pool and see dumbass Digger Dwarf hacking straight at it while another Dwarf happily uncovered a cave filled with Goblins right when you sent your only squad of Warriors in another location to fight off a Goblin Boss whose summoning portals from which other Goblins spawn from near your base.
Summing up:
Pros:
The gameplay is fluid, the game mechanic is simple yet solid and I find it to be very fun overall.
It has various levels of difficulty and some game modes which make the game more challenging
You can set games to last for 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes or endlessly, making this a great way to waste time when you don't have much of it.
