There are ways to add a free game license to your client. Not all are dupes, I managed to redeem one. The thing is there are ninjas with scripts redeeming every single key that is listed without any modifications to hide characters.

i apologize for confusion. I searched threads on other sites about the giveaway right now and massive number of comments saying the promotion produced fresh duplicate codes for the posters. I was not challenging the donations in this thread, just a heads up, since getting locked out of activations is never fun.

padding files steam installs in the directory. i was asking because sometimes im tethered so downloading a game is not an option :/
but when i got home i did what you suggested (start / activate / remove) and it worked, saving it in library.
