It's totally surprising, but it looks like G2A is trying to go more legit. They were able to get few publishers and create bundle a'la Humble Monthly.

February G2A Deal will have Superhot, Lords of the Fallen and Dirt3 and something more.

"February G2A Deal’s subscription price is only €1.50 for five wonderful games. And if you don’t want to subscribe just yet, you will always be able to test the waters with a one-time purchase for €2.50. And it goes live this Friday"
"
"Each Deal is created in close cooperation with game developers and publishers to make sure every gamer is satisfied with every pack, every month. All the keys are Steam-activated and acquired directly from developers to remove any unnecessary steps between you and your games."

Dirt 3 smells fishy (as it was removed from Steam, but maybe it was just Codemasters not wanting old game to take the spotlight from new titles?), but still, when tommorow there will be massive wave of Dirt-y Lords of the Superhot Fallen, you'll know who to blame.

Edit: Last two games are Syberia and Syberia 2.
"And when the time is right (between 12:00 – 20:00 CET (UTC+1) | 7 PM – 3AM PST (UTC+8)), we will be the first ones to give you a direct link, right here in this post. You will be just ONE CLICK AWAY FROM G2A DEAL"

Edit2: I think they screwed up times, why would they write "Deal will happen around afternoon in Europe which will be Night for America"?
Unless I missed the info Earth rotates in opposite way, so sun "travels" from west to east...

Edit3: "UPDATE

Due to technical problems we were unable to start the service at announced time. We are still working to deliver G2A Deal as fast as possible. We regret the inconvenience. Stay tuned."
So it begins...

Edit4: ALIVE
Worthy note: "You have to receive and activate those keys before 10th of April 2017. After this date, the keys will be deactivated. "

Go here to unsubscribe https://www.g2a.com/deals/index/

Edit5: G2A Deal's FAQ, thanks Rip777 for your comment.

Edit 6: Deal #2 to start on March 30th., games will be announced in next few days. Thanks Jaru93s. I plan to start new thread when full list of games will be announced (which shound happen before 29th, but who knows...), unless someone will decide to do it before me, no need to duplicate threads.

Obviously you can cheat the system, acording to their TOS they can disable your keys if you do so.

Comment has been collapsed.

Damn just when I think this site can not get any dumber. They do not collect the proper tax but have the balls to say they can revoke your key if you do not pay them. The irony in that.

If they are operating in a place where VAT is needed to be paid would that not imply they need to collect it to pay?I know in the U.S federal law states taxes have to be collected from a buyer if the person resides in the state you do business in if not they do not have to collect by law but still can volunteer to do it and turn it into the state.

Still how would they know if you are cheating if you use VPN and make a dummy PayPal as it is obvious they do not check IP or payment info otherwise why would they need you to select tax info when payment info could decide that for them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, there are ways to try to avoid the VAT but, if you think about it. They have to delcare sales in EU, is obvious that they have customers from EU that have to pay the VAT, EU authorities will require them that money, so if they don't charge it in some way to the customers, they will have to pay it from they own.
Now, I think they don't delcare all the sales from EU, but EU authorities receive an ammount that they think is plausible and don't dig too much, but is just a matter of that, if EU authorities dig deep enougth they will find something for sure and make them pay.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I doubt they dig deep as if thy just visit the site they would notice how easy it is for people to lie to get around said VAT.Then they could even test it out themselves by purchasing an item to see if they take proper steps to confirm where the purchase is from.

I mean I am good since I am in the U.S. so no VAT, though I have never seen a drop down box for taxes ever for any site I ever shopped from and I have shopped Canada and Europe before this.

I also doubt anyone will report this because they themselves then would not get around paying tax if steps were taken to fix it.As let's be honest how many people are really going to say they need to pay VAT?Given how hard people abused regions to get around a few bucks in saving on games why would they be so honest about tax?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah right. VAT tax is not going to your countries budget. It goes straight to G2A pocket.
Also why let people choose? I have never seen a store which doesn't include VAT in the price, but all of them were legal.

Either way G2A couldn't have gotten so many keys without help from someone who owns rights to the game. So the deal is legit in one way or another. Keys have been working for everyone and even have a set date they have to be used by. Also if the deal wasnt legit I would assume the devs would post not to buy it.

You're missing the point. GMG is reputable, and they acquired keys for Witcher 3 from an unknown source. Why do you think G2A (which has a low reputation) can't come up with something similar?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

all I know is I haven't seen anyone getting bad keys and no devs have posted not to buy the bundle so until I see otherwise I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. If the actually G2A pulls a fraud they will lose even more business than because sellers can be fraudulent and eventually they will go bankrupt. so hopefully they aren't that dumb.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No keys from GMG were bad. They just weren't acquired from the devs. G2A claims they're working with the devs, but we're yet to hear a dev comment on that. That's all.

About them being fraudulent, they already pull a lot of dubious crap. It's not by chance that they have a low rep among many. So, no news there.

GMG is still legit seller so who cares how they acquire their keys. CDPR were mad because GMG managed to sell it cheaper than GOG, that's all.

I do. And your argument is waaaay beyond the point.

GMG were mad because CDPR didn't send them a batch of keys as an official seller, so they bought the keys on their own and resell them. If they sell cheaper or no was GMG and his revenge-business.

Can't do much with someone's paypal info, unless you do the recurring subscription. If that's the case, then just go and cancel it on Paypal directly after.

... but speaking of payment data, I have an Entropay card with $1.10 on it ($1 + enough to cover the occasional sales tax for Texas) that I use for trial offers. Most just do a $1 auth that falls off, but one (some Experian crap) actually charged $1 plus sales tax. So if that gets used up, I can just transfer another $1.xx over (transfer fee is 30 cents, though).

It's not very weird at all. Distributing the game is the publisher's job and they don't tell the developer everything, nor do they need the developer's permission. If you asked the developer which physical store in your country stocks the game, they wouldn't have a clue about that either.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

...nor do they need the developer's permission.

Depends upon the contract between the developer and publisher. Some developers retain more control, but many are too busy with the tech to care about the distribution side.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I do not know any Publisher who would allow a Developer to have the final say.If I am funding a project I would want to be the person making the final call. The publisher is the one who takes care of the sales and marketing. The developer I would give more control over say how the game is made but all major decisions would need my approval.

In any case, maybe this is a good thing for G2A and a step toward the right directions of becoming an authorized dealer with a 3rd party market. They do get a lot of flack they deserve and some they do not.Right now this site is no different than going to a flea market yet people do not condemn a flea market even know you have no idea if items are stolen or legit. They seem to have made clear that you will get your money back if a problem arises so that is better than you would get from a flea market or craigslist.

I only suggest not using them if you truly want your money to support the developer.I like to support the developer so for that reason I suggest avoiding it.I am aware the money does not go directly toward the Developer before someone points that out with blind rage.A publisher will not allow a developer to keep making games if they games they make do not sell.Hence you have to buy games they make if you want them to make more games.

Permalink

If I am funding a project...

That's not the type of relationship that all publishers have to developers. Many publishers are really just marketers and handle distribution, but they don't own the IP nor do they have any say over the development of the product.

Fair enough I got to thinking about that after I posted that. That while a lot of the time that is how it goes it does not always.I was thinking too much of how I would do things. So it was a bit bias but we are human sometimes we make mistakes.
