Word of advice: Do not buy a touchscreen if you use your phone a lot. You'll be tired after half a year. Buy a Blackberry or a samsung with qwerty keyboard.

Ouch, Blackberries arent the best but thats just sad.

iPhone is an exception, however I do believe the iPhone is too expensive for what it is. Android phones have a way better interface, and are not so expensive. Not everyone has money for the iPhone :\

What the fuck? Where do you get your Iphones? They cost till 600€ on Portugal.

Right here. $100 with a plan. And it's brand new, not used.

Speechless. What's the catch on this deal? Apart from the service exclusivity, but IDK nothing about services on the iPhone

second hand in australia = $400... normal price = you could buy a laptop and skype credit + 10 gig internet dongle plan cheaper...

Actually, most high-end Android phones use Gorilla glass which is much stronger that whatever's on the iPhone.

+1 i <3 my gorilla glass, my dad has a iphone 4s which is scratched to hell whereas my s2 has only 1 minor scratch where i accidently threw it at a wall

+1. Would never buy a smartphone without a physical keyboard

My last phone was a Blackberry with a physical keyboard (having a physical kb was one of the selling points for me).
My current phone is a Galaxy S2 with no physical keyboard (not having a physical kb was an unfortunate sacrifice in the name of progress for me).
I've had the current phone for nearly half a year (since mid-March). While a touchscreen keyboard is not without its faults, it's nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be. Plus the larger screen (when the soft keyboard isn't displayed) is nice. And that's the worst thing about having a soft keyboard... it covers half the display area when you're using it. Second-worst thing is just getting used to it. It's surprisingly easy to be precise on a touchscreen though -- I can open this website on the browser, be 100% zoomed out, and still click on the forum page number links with about 95% accuracy. And you can usually set it to vibrate on key presses, so you sort of get tactile feedback (though no, it's definitely not the same as a physical keyboard). And it's also a lot easier, especially with multiple soft keyboard options (I have two main keyboards I use), to do extended characters (é, ñ, etc.). Trying to write programming code on my Blackberry wasn't even a consideration; with the right keyboard installed on the S2, it's pretty straightforward.
All that said, I was probably faster at regular typing on the Blackberry than when I tap-type on the S2, in part because I could just feel my way around and not have to look at the keyboard. If I'm using the Swype keyboard on the S2 though, I'm probably faster than I was on the BB. And I still haven't really tried to use SwiftKey since it's terrible for programming, but that (and other predictive-typing apps) could potentially cut down typing time even more. Still, I wouldn't make posts that are as long as this one on my phone.

I've managed to avoid smartphone until a few months back when I got an Android phone. I agree with you, they're actually quite good and have some very handy apps.
However the things that kept me away from touchscreen for so long (fingerprint/smudges) are as irritating as I had anticipated.
I had a screen protector that didn't show up smudging, but removed it because it split light. There are currently no screen protectors that stop smudging and don't distort the clarity of the screen.
Unfortunately I don't think this will be solved until they move away from glass as a screen surface.
Edit: OP I have read many reviews recently and the general consensus is that the S3 is the best smartphone right now, followed by the HTC One X.
I would stick with an android phone since it has the most apps and custom roms for whatever preference you have.

Well the iPhone 5 is meant to be announced on Tuesday and released on the 21st so see if you prefer it to the s3. If you don't like it definitely go with the s3.

The Galaxy S III is pretty much the best phone on the market right now, and will likely be for a few months.

I've heard great things about the S III.
Just avoid the DROID Bionic at all costs, I have that..

I have an HTC Desire HD and it's definitely better value than the S3. Not only does it have a similar size screen but I find the interface on HTC so much easier to use than anything from Samsung. The only drawback I've seen is that the Galaxy S3 has a slightly better processor (1.4GHz compared to the HD's 1GHz).
Both use Android, so that's the important thing :D

My dad has S3. It's really good. I took it for a test run when he got it. It was quite impressive. If you want a phone with a large screen size, this is the best. Only small problem is, you need both hands to use it so you can't use it properly while doing something else like driving.

Fuck Galaxy, fuck Android, i'm keeping my Nokia 1100.
Jokes aside, i wouldn't know, i have a Nokia 5800, great for its price, customizable to a great degree (hell, putting windows 3.1 in there is a jewel), and not planning on changing unless somehow it gets utterly destroyed, which is unlikely considering it hasn't fell even once.
