Don't remember that particular scene, but those exact same vines blocking the door show up literally everywhere in the game

I got lucky in that I saw this one not too long ago because of it having received an English patch.
Also, I can't help but think that if you used a screenie of those Splatterhouse-style enemies from the same level, we'd be here guessing for a week at least. :j

I would say SOS / Septentrion (セプテントリオン). :)
First time participating, don't have anything to post now as I am at work currently and I would pick something everyone would guess anyway, so someone can take my place if I am right of course XD. ;)

You are indeed quite correct. Welcome to the thread! :j
And posting a screenie is a whole different kind of fun ('No, that bit of moustache would make it too obvious... darn, Yandex reverse search gets it anyway!') - hope you'll join in at some point. A screenie often looks obvious only to the person who's making it.

The art style of the first screenie looked sooo similar to my impression of Fell Seal (with these cutaway creatures on blocky landscapes) that my mind instantly jumped to that one. But then the hints started to arrive.
I think I got it this time, though. The Holy Sword: The Ring?

Yeah, I ultimately found it by the screenie of the world map. I was on the right track when I started looking through Tactics RPGs from 2001-2002 on MobyGames - but the problem was... the game is not even listed on MobyGames. So my thanks go to that one weird Russian chap whose gameplay video is the only video of the game on YouTube.

Spuds Quest
btw do you have any experience with this or similar games ? Some pictures of Spuds Quest resemble certain dizzy areas very accurately, is it like a remake or completely different ?
will post an image shortly

You are correct!
And yes, I'm a bit of a Dizzy fan. Spud's Quest is an entirely different game in the style of Dizzy games, with some extra stuff thrown in. An environmental puzzle here and there, some metroidvania-like ability gaining, that sort of thing. Loved it.

I always got stuck at Race 15 Pencil Plateaux (fastest cars race 2/3). One time I managed to win it due to a glitch, made a huge shortcut and somehow didn't get thrown back. Then I couldn't figure out where I can/can't drive in Race 19 (tanks race 2/3) and being a dumb kid (7 yrs old maybe idk) I ragequit the game despite having 8 spare lives :D Redeemed myself a few years ago by finishing the game after more than a decade. It's hard. The last race is very hard.

Yeah, you had to appreciate the talent that went into putting all those bouncy rulers, making you bounce just enough to fly off the table whilst trying to turn. I don't think my Little Kid Self ever got to trying the proper leagues in the first place. Well, challenge accepted!

What is a boogaloo?
The Electric Boogaloo is a dance style that became meme-ified to denote crazy sequels, as popularized by the 1984 film Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. While we are not break dance battling here, it is kind of like a screenshot battle and hence, the "screenshot boogaloo".
