Yup and for that "FU" behavior i gave them the fitting answer...

Oh and they reached this goal as only publisher that not sell crap. So "congratulations" to them for this "Milestone".

EDIT:
The Season Pass Version is still not the newest, full, version!

So think twice if you want to spend money on it.

EDIT 2:
As someone else wrote:
"It seems the HB version won't have any support. Suffice it to say that it still does not have an offline regime (= no offline play)."

EDIT 3:
They f*cked PS4 buyers as well.

What do you mean? The full version should be the base game plus the two DLCs iirc

There are several new files in there. For example, those that provide the ability to play offline)))
These are fundamental different versions of the game.

No, but if you get the control from monthly choice, you will get the "ultimate version" with no dlc.

I read your post about the payment issues, can't you add a bank account to paypal or topup through a service? As long as there is wallet money it won't ask about a creditcard, like i put enough for a year of humble choice in my wallet, then i could buy it, otherwise it would have asked me for a credit card too, but we are a country where it isn't used much either.

In my old acc, I could add my PP with bank acc. Now they want a CC.
That's pretty strange.
My buddy has the same problem from Switzerland. And he have connect the bank acc. + it is his main Humble Acc.

I remember the good old days when even subscriptions worked without a card. Now you can have thousands in your balance and you won't pay / buy without adding a card.
And now the funny part: I have my friend's card attached to my pp account and I can still pay for subscriptions with the balance.
PP security standards: you can use someone else's payment card.

And you / him have tried depositing money from your bankaccount to paypal so that you have enough for something to purchase in a paypal wallet?

As i said i also got asked for a CC with humble choice, but when i deposited 100+ euro in my paypal wallet it didn't and the purchase went through, doesn't hurt to ask your friend if he tried that.

Try that first please, if he tried that and not working but he can atleast send money on paypal to others, hit me up and maybe i can help.

In my opinion the Foundation DLC is well worth the purchase, the Alan Wake crossover on the other hand is rushed and almost completely devoid of original content.

True the Alan Wake dlc is really disappointing, not worth even for big fans of Alan Wake.

+1... just finish the game plus DLCs a few days ago. and the fundation Is long, its a full new map with a lot of things to do.

the bad thing Is that the Alan wake cross over Is More a steal from the name AND the nostalgia than something new

I am guessing they just put together whatever they had when covid hit and released it. It felt like AWE had less than half the content of the first DLC. There weren't even any darkness based enemies, like everyone expected, plus the story kind of undermines the main narrative.

As the choice was realised the changes were kinda meh and i am sure a lot had a closer eye on it but the new situation (removed season pass and you will have to buy whole game again + the Season Pass at HB still don't provide offline play) is not something on the edge. It's a complete dickmove from 505.
And for that they got my "Ignore this publisher"

right now you can buy the DLCs on HB if you got the Steam version, I kinda suspect they will run out of the keys fast. If you have the Epic version, most stores still sell DLCs for Epic or you can buy them directly on Epic. Only Steam cusotmers got screwed over.

They'll probably bring it back after the backlash, if not it just proves 505 Games is a shitty publisher and I'll never buy another game from them again.

def not a coincidence. they add it right as the hb monthly releases, then remove it after. at least they're offering the season pass for ~$6 for the next 32 days. i know it feels easy for some people to immediately get upset over this whole fiasco, but from where i see it we still got a great deal. $12 for an unbundled triple-a $30 game (plus 11 other games), with the option to buy the season pass for $6.37.. all in all really isn't bad at all. there are a shitload of people that paid the full $30 price tag (or more) and got way less.

that being said, i think they way they handled it was pretty scummy. like the whole naming thing. i don't really know how the steam backend works, but it just feels lazy the way they did it. still calling it the ultimate edition when it wasn't.. couldn't they just have made a new store page? would that cost them a whopping extra $100 or something they didn't wanna fork out? i don't know, maybe they should've just included the season pass anyway? maybe sales had dipped so low they figured they'd offer it cheap on a humble monthly then try to make a few extra bucks from people buying that $6 season pass?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You are correct with the price but the handling is, like you said scummy.

As the choice was realised the changes were kinda meh and i am sure a lot had a closer eye on it but the new situation (removed season pass and you will have to buy whole game again + the Season Pass at HB still don't provide offline play [so it is in the end still not the same game]) is not something on the edge. It's a complete dickmove from 505.
And for that they got my "Ignore this publisher".
The first Publisher that reached that goal, without to publish crap and it is very sad.
But in the end i can only tell them with my money purse what i, as customer, like + accept and what not.

And the HB thing wasn't the only "bad move" from them with Control.
They f*cked PS4 buyers as well.

Maybe after a backlash they will change the Steam version and will make the DLCs to be active for anyone that has the game? As it looks like either they try to pull out a scam or they don't know what they are doing anymore.

Fascinating - I would like to meet the genius who thought of this clusterfuck of events that preceded putting the game in bundle. If they are so fiercely against bundles why the fuck did they even bundled the game ? Are they from mars or something ? It's not like bundles haven't been around for ages. Acting like they where forced and didn't know what will happen after bundling the game.

And the game (full, regular version) is on game pass. I find it hard to believe being in a Humble monthly is that much worse of a deal compared to being on game pass.

Edit: game pass version is also not the ultimate version.

It feels like they have no idea what they are doing and just doing something for the sake of doing.
Like they left a temp with bad attitude at the wheel and he's just pumping out one bad idea after another without any backing logic to it.

I mean when has stabbing it's costumers in the back worked for any company. Especially on the internet where every little mistake and change is found out even before they manage to do any official statement. Are they so out of touch with the world they didn't realize people would poke into the games files, find it's downgraded version ? That they could simply make users of base game force to buy the whole game another time to earn more without anyone noticing ? ... I'm seriously baffled by the logic of any of this. there have been of course many developer "fuck you" moves to costumer where costumers gets the short end of the straw..... but that's usually just business being business. How idea of doing this to the game ever came up in a board meeting and they approved is beyond me. Only scenario I can imagine is if the board or whoever is responsible is full of middle aged arrogant fucks who have never even played a single game. It feels like there must have been someone pointing out "hey guys, this is stupid and unnecessarily complicated"

If i get to that point, I'll just get gamepass and play Control + others, I don't really plan to give more money to the publisher. This is sad - so much hassle to promote the bundle, then confusion about breaking the complete game into two for the bundle, then removing then from the store... a PR nightmare.

but the DLCs can still be purchased at most stores, as long as you got the Epic version, only Steam customers got screwed over by the devs... most stores I checked still sell the DLCs but only as Epic keys. Is it a conincidence that Remedy (the dev) is apparently working on Alan Wake 2 in cooperation with Epic Games, and now everybody who got Control for Steam and not Epic got royally screwed over? I hope it's just a coincidence, but I don't like this one bit. With the sale extended at HB, I worry HB will soon stop selling the Steam version as well, and this is a last ditch attempt to give Steam users a last shot to get the DLCs

Looks way too convenient for Epic to be a coincidence. They've already demonstrated they have nothing against scummy practices to knock off the competition so I wouldn't put it past them to pressure Remedy to do something like that to Steam users.
They're not scoring points for loyalty, that's for sure.

Great, now I feel like my Steam profile is cursed... (check image)
Also, it would be nice if OP could do a pool to see who's interested in buying the Season Pass to complete their edition.
On one hand I would like to complete my edition for good and make sure I don't get fooled by 505 next time they try to repeat the same thing. On the other hand, it's kinda hard to support a publisher that has a shady record, even tho Remedy (the devs) have nothing to do with their shady ways of doing business.
Also, do you think there's any chance we might get an official answer from 505?
I really like the game, but I'm really not sure what to do. That's why I'm curious if most of you are buying the SP or not...

Too late to do a poll now, maybe a new special thread? Personally i bought it way before this happened, i think more people will rather want to complete their game and maybe next time avoid the publisher rather then not buy it at all.

People choosing between their own (interest) versus morality, you know what often wins.

They really want people to buy their damn dlcs with some FOMO tactic. Thanks Lugum for the heads up, i know now that i must play the base game before the season pass on HB expire and decide if it is worth it to buy it.

Even Square handled their "definitive" edition of Shadow of the Tomb Raider better than the morons of 505 games.
