So for literally the first time ever, I've been faced with region restrictions, although it might be my own fault, partly.

I always use paypal (with a US address) to pay for HB stuff and steam stuff...but I recently got a (local) credit card, and since it is easier than having to long-distance top-up my paypal regularly, I figured I'd use it. Unfortunately, while many of the games from the Sierra bundle were redeemed, one I was interested in, Gabriel Knight 3 (yeah, I know, it was the worst one, but still) gave me a weird error.
The strange thing is that GK2, which is also restricted here, was redeemed fine. And I have loads of games on my account (purchased through paypal) that work fine as well.
So I'm suspecting that it is the combination of me using a local credit card and having my IP be what it is that caused problems.
And I figured the solution might be to swap the code for GK3 with someone else who bought the bundle but hasn't redeemed it yet. It should work for them, and theirs should work for me.
I'd have posted this in the trade section, but it isn't really a trade, so I thought that wouldn't be right. Someone up for it?

Sorry for the mild off-topic, but GK3 is pretty awesome and, to my mind, superior story-wise to Sins of the Fathers. The game has clumsy controls, sure, but I can't name any other more or less serious cons (aside from that the method of acquiring fake moustache, of course)).

+1, I really liked the story and FMV of GN2. I didn't enjoy the story that much in GN3 and I thought it was really ugly.

The thought of region restrictions applying to two-decade-old Sierra games is weird enough in and of itself. That really feels like taking the concept of region-restrictions rather a bit too far.

In any case, checking Rachel's Threads is always a useful thing to do before purchasing any bundle, as she makes a point of adding in details like noted region-restriction issues into the OP of each thread. (Likewise, it's useful to report your own issues there to help her further collate such data.)

Unfortunately, since you've already activated several of the games, it'd be harder to convince Humble to refund the bundle [so you could rebuy it, were it a purchasing issue (though, see below, it likely isn't)], though they're generally good about refunding for [their woefully, perpetually unlisted] region-restriction issues.

As far as GK2 working where GK3 didn't, the first is likely solely region-purchase-restricted while the latter is likely also region-activation-locked. No telling why that distinction was made between those two games, but it's not an uncommon distinction in and of itself.

According to steamdb, there are several countries where it can't be purchased in or traded/gifted to. There's no regional version of the game for those areas, so the game seems to be completely prohibited from activation in those regions.

Edit: The steamdb link seems to not be linking correctly. Click 'information' on the left side of the page to get to the correct link.
