What did you think of Xmorph and Supraland? (and the others if notable?)
Comment has been collapsed.
I enjoyed Supraland the most.
It felt short for me only because each tool was cooler than the last that I expected the game to keep outdoing itself by giving even cooler tools to solve even more fun puzzles with.
The puzzles aren't too difficult and the platforming is very forgiving.
The secret areas aren't so hidden and out of the way that it's discouraging to find them and the easter egg collectibles referencing popular characters are pretty funny.
Overall, a blast to play from start to finish.
X-Morph: Defense is pretty good but I think it's better played in co-op.
Playing solo was pretty overwhelming until I realized about halfway through the game that unlike most tower defense games, there was no resource penalty to deconstructing turrets. After that, it got easy but also tedious because relocating turrets took time.
It also has a shoot-'em-up/bullet hell element which makes thinning out enemies easier but not really necessary most of the time except maybe during the boss battles.
None of the other games are particularly of note for me except 112 Operator but I haven't played a lot of management games in the past so maybe I just got caught up in the novelty of having fun while playing a management game and that's probably why 112 Operator stood out to me. It's a nice entry-level management game and I imagine 911 Operator is too.

Good on you for getting all the achievements! Especially in Henry Stickmin where getting a single "ending" can take just a half hour and a case could be made that counts for the contest.

I've been watching this from the beginning and think it's finally time to join in! Here's my lineup:
Game | Month | Status | Ending Achievement |
---|---|---|---|
As Far As The Eye | August 2021 | Beaten [#2!] | multiple [1] |
The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters | August2020 | Beaten [#1!] | Ghost Vigilante Rising |
Chicken Police | April 2022 | Played, saving for later | |
FRAMED Collection | September 2021 | Beaten [#5!] | Got a light? |
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil | April 2020 | Beaten [#4!] | Crushing Conclusion |
GRIS | April 2020 | Beaten [#3!] | The End |
Path of Giants | December 2020 | Beaten [#6!] | multiple [2] |
[1] As Far As The Eye achievements: Chapter 1: Oku the Vigilant through Chapter 5: the Horned Chimera cover the five mini-campaigns that make up the tutorial/story mode. All other achievements are for unlocks, which are only awarded upon winning a normal game. (source)
[2] Path of Giants achievements:
Narita Boy: Despite a certain simplicity to the level design, I'm having a lot of fun with it. The only problem is that I started playing a day before the thread was posted, rendering it ineligible for this event. sadface
The Coma 2: Great game, enjoyed it just as much as I did the first one. I think it might have been a little easier to avoid Dark Song this time, but it didn't detract from the experience. Eagerly awaiting part 3!
As Far As The Eye: Deceptively difficult roguelike non-violent strategy game? My first tribe was wiped out by a persistent hailstorm--they barely managed to escape the storm and then promptly starved to death. Had better luck on my second try, but there were quite a few close calls!
GRIS: Gorgeous, meditative, lovely. Though I will admit the lack of direction and unsignaled points of no return really frustrated me at first. Even the ending caught me off guard while I was trying to explore! Luckily there's a chapter select so I can go back to see everything I missed.
Turok 2: I bought this purely for the nostalgia factor, and it delivered (despite never having played it before!). High points: the Lightship was just a fun level overall (despite its weird boss that didn't make any sense). Low points: infinite spider spawns in the Mantis Hive and majorly uncool rule changes in the final boss battle.
FRAMED Collection: Stylish light puzzle game. Fun, but the mechanics too easily devolve into trial and error rather than working it out. Struggled a bit with timing in the second half which wasn't great, but I managed. Didn't really understand the plot until the post-credits scene! but that was easy enough to forgive.
Chicken Police: I like it too much to play this month. HLTB says it's only 10 hours to finish, but I really want to take my time and enjoy it and my spare time is too limited to be able to do that in the time remaining. sadface number two
Path of Giants: Cute little puzzle game where three explorers have to cooperate to reach the treasure. The puzzle mechanics were better than those in FRAMED, but I still blew through it pretty quickly. There was hardly any challenge at all until I got to the Winterfest bonus campaign, which did require a bit of thought.

First Tuesday of the month is now CJ Day!
I am seriously looking forward to your Monthly event way waaaaay more than I am looking forward to the monthly reveal!
Daaaaamn they weren't kidding with the Difficult tag on Ring of Pain. Took me 14 hours to manage to finish a run... and it took many many runs.
I guess I should have taken a look at the reviews for Going Under and I'd never have played it right after. I thought Ring of Pain was hard? Jesus! Who the hell are the sadists who made this game? Haven't they heard of Hardcore Mode? There is no way the average completion time is 8 hours. The final boss took me almost 90 mn and 5 runs to beat! It's ridiculous. Only play it if you are not a completionist or if you are a masochist.
I draaaaaagged myself to the end of State of Mind because I hate to leave a game unfinished but ugh, that's probably one of the worst games I have played in the last couple of years. It was like being stuck on a date and having to sit through a 12 hour long boring movie. One pointless scene after the other. One unlikable character after another. It's only cyberpunk if you extend the definition to just anything featuring a robot.
Worst of all, it's a waste of a perfectly good premise, even though it's just a mashed up copy/paste job of everything from Bladerunner to Matrix, Humans and other games doing a better job of exploring it.
Darksburg was mindless fun but I won't play it again. Feels a bit empty.
All in all, I'm glad I played Do Not Feed the Monkeys, and most of all If Found, this month. The rest ranged from forgettable to mediocre to torturous.
If Found was a great way to finish the event and to start Pride Month. I'm not usually into visual novels because they just feel like reading a long boring novel written by a high school student most of the time. This really surprised me. The art was minimal but very well done and the way it was built as a game really kept you engaged with the story, which was well written. Nice indie.

Welp, this is the first month that I was really interested in, only to discover I don't think I have enough games that are short enough for me to beat in a month [and I happened to start one of them Sunday]. Maybe I'll stalk past threads to make sure though to see what games are played in practice.
Actually, I think I might have enough short games if I actually focus on playing them. Finishing Forager for Play or Pay faster than expected helped as well.

Going Under looks like a really fun game.😀
I like to describe myself as a casual achievement hunter. I even try to complete 100%, but if any achievement requires a lot of grinding or is incredibly hard I just let it go (in other words, I'm lazy). BTW, I started playing Ring of Pain yesterday, and it also seems to take a lot of sweat (and an equal measure of luck) to complete. 100%. 🤔

Hmm, I have Tunic wishlisted for a long time, so I'll join in.
Games started since the beginning of the event:
Framed Collection Completed (4hrs) Got a Light?
It wasn't what I expected, but I wasn't too disappointed. The game's artwork is gorgeous though. It plays a little like a comic strip in puzzle form, where you have to put the scenes in the correct order to advance.
Monster Sanctuary - Beaten (50 hours) Defeat Marduk Achievement
I had a lot of fun with Monster Sanctuary. Final boss was a bit of a nightmare, but worked out what I had to do to beat him in the end.
Iris and the Giant - Beaten. (9 hours) Unlocked Nightmare mode.
Weird story to this card game. It pretty fun though. Will require a few play throughs to get all the achievements I'd say. There's no "end game" achievement. Just have to replay it many times to get all of the achievements. Screenshot showing game completed for first time
Path of Giants - Now Completed. (7 hours) Archaeologist achievement is end game It's so cute and it's fun. I will go back and complete all the achievements and finish the bonus content later.
She Remembered Caterpillars (7.5 hours) Beaten, almost 100%. That last achievement is annoying. lol. Resilient
Evan's Remains (4.5 hours) Completed

Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.
The prize: 2x TUNIC
Note: This means I'm giving away two copies of the game and will have 2 winners.
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.
Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.
FAQ:
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for over six years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.
I've played the first X minutes of a game, can I pick it for the event?
No. You cannot have any play time or achievements prior to the start of the event. The only exception is idle time from farming Steam cards.
Can I play a MP only game?
No. It needs to have an "end" in order for me to count it as beaten, so it needs to have a campaign/story mode.
If a game was sold as a non-Steam copy in a bundle (origin/uplay/drm-free/etc), can I pick it as a choice if I own a Steam copy?
No. The reason being that those who own a Steam copy would have an extra option that would not be available to everyone who bought the same bundle. If the game was originally sold as a non-Steam copy, but Humble later provided steam keys to everyone who bought the bundle, then the game would be allowed.
Why six games?
The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.
How long are you going to do this?
Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.
This event "ends" on June 7th when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time.
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and don't forget to pack before you leave.
