Incoming Chat Request?

Just now, a box popped up that says "Incoming Chat Request", with options to accept, decline or block.
I don't know who this person is, but they friended me very soon before this popped up.

Not gonna click anything since I've never seen something like this before.

I'm gonna assume its a scam, but can anyone tell me for sure?

EDIT: Ok, I didnt know that you could message someone that you arent friends with. Thanks!

It's just a request to open chat with you. This happens when the person isn't on your friends list, I believe.

It's just a chat request from someone who's not on your list.Most of the time it's people trying to scam.If they're not going to post weird links you've got nothing to worry about.

I get invited by chat room spam bots mostly, I've lost count of how many groups I've been permabanned from thanks to those damn things. XD

its just someone you havent talked to before and isnt on your friends list. I wish there was a way to disable the popup i miss trading offers often because my overlay will glitch and i wont see it.
