That sounds like something from the Onion.

54,000 people were interested in the facebook event.
I wonder how many just wanted to see dumb Floridians shooting themselves.

They all wanted to try to shoot down the Russian/Chinese/North Korean apparatus that is causing hurricanes every year!!!

You can disperse sharknados by dropping a stick of dynamite into it from a helicopter. Perhaps hurricane would work the same? I mean, it's a lot bigger, but without sharks, so that should even out...

The general consensus is that even dropping a nuke into the eye of the hurricane won't stop it.

Even not if there are sharks in the eye of a hurricane?

I drop bombs all the time in my toilet and it keeps hurricanes at bay so I question your "consensus"

The fools! All they're doing is giving the tornado ammo!

Tornados are just like werewolves: you can't stop them by shooting them with regular bullets.

If silver works on werewolves, what kind of bullets would stop a tornado?

I don't think anyone's tried shooting a tornado with a silver bullet yet, so there's no reason to believe that won't work.

Yes because clearly shooting at the storm is more dangerous than being in it.

Looks like it was a satire page on Facebook which the police (being in Florida and all, having no faith left in humanity) decided to comment on, which CNBC of course saw and picked up.

Funny how quickly these things spiral out of control.

It's a fair warning in a time when there are so many stupid people. Look at how many injuries happen each year from people shooting up into the sky "to celebrate" whatever it is. If you have to put bathtub warnings on hair dryers, you might as well warn people for everything, at least it gives the rest of us something to laugh at.

This is why "Florida Man" is an actual separate category on some news sites.
