My first question, as being new to here, did this happen here?
edit easy there kids, I just over looked that part.

The ban and the forums which I got banned from - not relate to SG

Well seeing as that is incredibly poor grammar, you can't expect everyone to understand it.
Also I think you probably violate a lot of TOS on many forums for being under the age of 13.
Finally that is far from the most ridiculous ban I've seen. You had me hoping for a humorous story... instead I got a bunch of herp and some derp.

You do know you're replying to user "Wheatley5981" and not the OP, right?

i understand that you accidentally overlooked that part, it happens. The fact that you edited your statement is something i can respect. However, saying "easy there kids, **" confuses me. I'm sure many sub 18 year old's lurk the forums, but to just blindly assume (and/or use it as a borderline derogatory comment) that the 3 other posters are "kids" is just ignorant - It's not even as if they were stating anything offensive to begin with (in which may potentially justify the statement of telling them to "relax".)
Consider reading twice and thinking before writing next time.
With that being said - i don't mean any offense, just speaking my mind.

Nope, I activated the key while having the game, and didn't recieve additional copy.
Comment has been collapsed.
Or the OP might be lying and he jus recently activated Game of Thrones and in that case he won't get an extra copy and if they somehow manage to ask Steam to shed light in all this fuss he can get banned for trying to scamm them extra gift copy :D Problem solved?:)

Poker Night at the Inventory is another example.
There have been multiple reports that a giftable copy spawned in the user's inventory when they already owned Poker Night and activated a Humble Bundle key (don't remember which bundle exactly it was - and currently too lazy to google).

Maybe if you just used "What do you mean by depends on which game?" only, you wouldn't have got a ban. That first part makes you seem like you're attacking him. Also, you're wrong and he was right. It does depend on which game you activate.

For the record, the admin was right on the facts. There are games with multiple versions for various reasons (regional pricing, language packs, censorship, bundled DLC, etc), and redeeming a key for a different version of a game you already own can use it up.

Well i got banned from an already dying forum (i joined in 2005 until today) after i said the admin that every single idea he had to keep the forum activity was wrong and they would only kill it even more. Everyone agreed with me but still i got a permaban :D
Edit: I said until today because i'm using an alternate account, made many friends there that i just couldn't let go.

It's usually not a good idea to call out an admin like that. There are plenty of other ways to state your point without offending an admin.
Comment has been collapsed.
Terrible wording IMO
If someone give an info you consider incorrect, you fix it by giving the right answer, you don't question the person's position as admin. Besides being a personal attack, you were biased by judging the admin for a single action.
That being said, ban was unnecessary. a simple warning would do the job, UNLESS you have history.

My only problem is not tagging the punitive action with the proper reason. Sometimes certain people need to be given a time-out, but you don't need to falsify records to do this. Making stuff up just reveals yourself to be a bad candidate for someone with moderation powers.
Also, I think the admin here at Steamgifts have the right idea : Rather than punish someone for small, dumb things? Just tell them to fuck off and stop being dumb. Only use the powers if they start being exceptionally obnoxious, etc.

Game of Thrones and Poker Night 1
I don't know if there's a complete list.

I thought i won't need to write it, but just to make it clear:
Hes new as an admin there, and yea, I don't know why he is an admin because he just says wrong answers in a lot of threads, and the guy didn't talked about a bundle game, so, there you go. and yea, maybe I was a bit aggresive, but the ban i got is too much in this case.
Edit: WOW, I can't belive this. I disscused with a guy on another thread about Pop-Cap bundle which suppose to be next week. Now I found that the freaking admin deleted all our messages and said to the guy I discusses with that he shouldn't talk to me anymore because im a person with low "value" (I don't know if thats right spelling). anyway he means I have no respect like he fucking knows me. Now, what are your thoughts?

I got banned from here when, on a SteamDB thread, I suggested someone gift me Steam product ID 54 (I think that was the right number, it was correct at the time) - which is a meta product containing the entire of Steam. Banned for over a week. Actions like that speak to the fact the mods clearly don't give a flying fark about the members.

Begging is agains the rules.
So why should the mods give a flying fark about members that violate the rules?
Sure, you meant it as a joke, but not all SG members are smart and get a joke, instead they might think that begging is okay and the forum will get flooded with beggars.
Thus the mods have a very strict no-begging-policy.

Cry me a river. Seriously, you were rude and yet it surprised you to get banned? Well, that should teach you a lesson. Or not, it's up to you.
Comment has been collapsed.
Absolutely. Nobody should question authority. Ever. Just stfu and mind your own business amirite?
Comment has been collapsed.
SO its rude to correct mis-information? Or is it rude because he didnt kiss the admin's ass? Just because someone has power, doesnt make them a god, and certainly doesnt make them automatically earn respect. Its a valid question, how can you be a mod/admin of a STEAM based website/forum and yet have no clue how steam works?
That would be like CG coming on here and asking how to activate a steam key.

While I agree the admin was too heavy-handed (based on what we're told from just one side of the story), it'll serve as a nice learning lesson for the OP.
A simple, polite correction would have been more than effective. Instead, he chose to be obnoxious. They gave someone a backhand for no reason. So, acting with the same lack of impulse control, the admin back-handed him in response. Yeah, it wasn't cool, but neither was the initial remark. They're both about on the same level, only the OP got to learn a lesson equivalent to "don't throw stones at wasp nests".
Comment has been collapsed.
That's not the point. I never said you can't question authority. I said you should not be rude while doing this. "how are you even an admin here" is quite rude, it can be said in a different - more polite way. "I think you're wrong" sounds more like it (add "Sorry" if you're Canadian).

Naw, that's not the most ridiculous ban by far. Also, technically a straight 'ban' in the way you mention it is a permanent block. You got suspended for a few days. Call it a learning experience.
My 'favourite' suspensions typically come from TF2 servers, where you get the usual array of power-trippers loaded with random flippant pre-cooked one-liners like "IF YOU DON'T LIKE OUR SERVER THEN LEAVE kick" in response for literally saying "Hnngh, quake sounds". I once pointed out (over voice chat, with an openly light-hearted tone, joining server-wide banter) that it's funny how some servers insist on being 'family friendly' while a dude throws jars of piss and teams die screaming/in bloody chunks. That resulted in a 1-week ban with the admin message of "our server, our rules" despite not having broken any, nor having adopted an actual tone of criticism.
The best near-ban was because a different server had a really draconian language block, that would mute you if you swore (for roughly 10 minutes, I think it was?), but would gib you if you said the word "monkey", and send a server message to you in all-caps with "RACISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, YOU WILL BE BANNED". I found this infinitely amusing, but had no intention of tempting fate with how dumb folks can be in online gaming. I was dumb enough to forget, some 20-or-so minutes later, and said "monkey" again. Admin logs on and gets openly hostile at me, the usual "I HAVE POWER, DO NOT QUESTION ME" tone they get when they blatantly just want to press a red button and feel important. I explained exactly what happened, and he was just as baffled as I was. Close call? Maybe? I dunno?
It all just comes down to the fact that people are douchebags when they have either popularity, numbers or power. Admin for random gaming servers don't always go through quality screening, so you get folks like that. It makes you appreciate the good ones that bit more though <3

It's just that some losers think that they are "important" or powerful just because they have admin rights.
Yeah, like there is only your server in the entire fucking world.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sorry to hear that you got banned for BS like that. People who blow their top and get easily offended should not be in charge of anything. Yeah, there are rules and the admins are in charge but just because you are in a position of power/authority does not mean that you can abuse that privilege and act immature. You could have worded your response better but the admin was just as much in the wrong for reacting the way that they did and should be ashamed of themselves for acting like a child but sadly I guarantee that their actions will go unpunished.

Stupidity is everywhere, add power to that, and you've got yourself a real brain-cell assassin.

What is ridiculous? It is being banned from a forum dedicated to being politically incorrect for the reason of racism

I have been banned for asking when the developer will switch to SteamDRM.

I'm admin of a forum and I would never ban anyone for saying that. I'd be annoyed but I'd just offer the reason behind my answer and tell them there's no cause to be rude. Just because you're admin doesn't mean you get to use that power whenever you get mad. Some admins just think they're a god within their territory but that's just a stupid way to behave.

The ban and the forums which I got banned from - not relate to SG
So, I saw a topic about a CD-Key for steam. The guy asked a very common question: Can he have another copy of a game if he activate the code of a game he already have in his library. The answer of course is NO, but the cute admin of the forum, said: It depends on what game you are going to activate.
So i quoted him and said how are you even an admin here, what do you mean by depens on which game?
and then, I got banned for a few days because I used "bad language", which I DIDN'T.
Your thoughts?
