In the most dire of circumstances,

Would you steal a loaf of bread to feed your family? Would you admonish another who chooses to do the opposite?

Either thieve to feed, or starve-- there are no alternatives.

its our natural instincts to survive. our body would do whatever it would to get some food. So ofcourse i would steal some bread for me and my family.

I'd steal. Thievery is nowhere near as bad as letting your loved ones starve to death. I'd feel like their blood was on my hands if I stood by and did nothing to stop them from dying.
Though it'd be a whole 'nother thing if I had to steal from someone in the same situation as I. I'd feel like shit about it if I had to.
Of course I was only given a do/don't option with your question, which doesn't lend itself to much of a grey area. I think the discussions here would have been more interesting without that. :t

And as for judging others that would not, I am not sure. Though I sure as hell wouldn't praise their morals if they swore off all stealing, and let their family die.

Edit: Was I supposed to be getting an invite?

let's be more extreme. in case a beloved one (family, partner) is threatened to death by an aggressor, would you defend him/her to the extreme consequences? i think of my children and answer i would. now imagine my answer to the OP question.

I wouldn't steal loaf of bread. I would steal money instead and then buy everything we need.
And I wouldn't admonish others for that.

Depends on stealing from whom. It's a whole different story to try to steal in such dire situation a loaf of bread from shop/bakery just hurting their profits and to steal it from another person is same dire situation endangering him and his family so you could survive yourself. Second will be always morally wrong and unacceptable but 1st instance from ethical point of view is so-called "higher need" which justifies normally morally-wrong actions.

Oh and why did I write it all? I already won a Thief from you ;*

I would ask for help first. If it's truly "steal or die", than it's "steal" for me, no doubt.

Thieve instead of starving, and I wouldn't blame anyone for it.

Yes, but I would steal from someone that could handle it (and not from a small private store). I believe that if my family is really starving, stealing is justified.
