I was just curious, I've been into 82 entries now and still have yet to win anything, and I've been entering into giveaways with a lower amount of people. I know everyone is supposed to have an equal chance at winning, but I was just curious if there is a way to increase your chances at all? And how is my estimated wins at 0.10 if I haven't won anything yet?

you don't get 1/10th of a game, its gotta be a whole one. and odds aren't cumulative anyway

You only have 82 giveaway entered. You will win on your 1000th entry.

Actually, no. I could easily figure out that 1000+ entries in most of my entered giveaways would mean I won't be seeing many wins. I also came to the forums to read the FAQ and look around. Common sense might not be so common, but doesn't mean everyone is without it.

That doesn't change the fact that you bash some guy for not knowing the rules of this site.
When i came here i easilly figured all out aswell, but keep in mind there's people who has problems with english and there's people who gets "things" slower.

Anyways, have a nice day.

Knowing they won't win 1000 entry giveaways after only 80+ entries of their own is simple maths. If that isn't simple enough that they come to ask a question in the forums, they can damn well see the first topic, the FAQ. If they won't read that first and can't do simple math, they will receive insults. If not from me, then from others.

I at least linked to a guide that answered both of their questions. Which they ignored, since 20 minutes later, their response to another user showed they still didn't understand Estimated Wins.

You may enter the giveaways when entires are low but a lot of people probably enter after you. If you're the first person to enter a giveaway do you really expect a 100% win chance?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

obviously not. but the lower amount of people in an entry means the greater chance of winning, but apparently the estimated wins increases your chance of wining, which in turn gets rid of an even playing field?

You didn't read the topic I posted if you believe something that idiotic.

This is a number calculated by the chance you had of winning each giveaway you have entered. If you entered a giveaway with a 50% chance of winning, your Estimated Wins will increase by 0.5, no matter if you won or lost. This number is no indication that you should have won that many games, it is simply to allow you to see if you are more or less lucky than what the odds allow.

Because very few win earlier with just publics giveaways.

Read the link I posted. It has information about various giveaway types which have higher chances.

Public giveaways and low entries are not really two things that match together.
If a giveaway has lower entries and is public that is probably because it will run for a day or more until it finishes, people rather enter giveaways that will end <1day. But the GA that you entered and say has few entries will end up in that <1day window and therefore will end up getting more entries.

You have to enter 10 as much as you have entered so far and you can expect your first win to happen during that time, it is not guaranteed of course but chances are not too bad.

Not at all. The estimated wins is just an estimate of the number of times you're expected to have won statistically based on the number of giveaways you've entered and the number of people in the giveaways. Basically if you enter a giveaway and have a 1% chance to win then your estimated wins will go up by 0.01. This is purely an informational tool so you can see where your actual wins fall relative to the statistical expectation.

In your case, you statistically should have one 1/10th of a game so you should expect to win a giveaway roughly within 800 or so entries. This is by no means guaranteed though.

how is an estimation of you winning less than one game representative of you having not won a game yet? my gosh...

it means based on your giveaway entries, statistically you should have won a tenth of a game, so you cant call yourself unlucky yet.

I'm of the opinion that as long as someone is gifting, why care where. I myself have done plenty of gifts within two groups I created for people I know, and have even recently joined a ratio group (though haven't entered any giveaways at this point). Groups allow me to gift to people I believe will think better of the prize, rather than getting potential regifters and other rule breakers as has happened with some of my giveaways, including two privates I made for the forums.

Don't expect to win, ever, that way you'll be pleasantly surprised when you do eventually win, if you're gonna sit there and be upset after every giveaway you don't win you might as well leave

Indeed. Winning is a glorious occasion, while 'losing' (since you don't lose anything but free points) is standard for a regular day on this site.

Once you've entered 5000 giveaways, there is a good chance you will have won at least once.

You have 4861 more entries to go. Better get started on it....

wait....the highest record is 5000? Damn....if I only can be reaching there and open a thread and cry like a baby. Its hard to break 2000 without a win.

2 Words: Random Chance

You enter a giveaway and then there's 2 possibilities, either you win or you don't. There's no use questioning this system...

If you're into statistics you can figure out which giveaways have better win chances but I won't bore you with it...

The best way to increase your chances is to giveaway some games so you have access to contributor only giveaways and to join groups; all of which have pre-requisites to join. I've been here a month and have yet to win (not a complaint), but I know it will happen eventually.
