that's a pretty good reason to go with serious sam right there. it's flash sale is over for now, but chances are it'll come up again as a daily.

also, i find serious sam more interesting than doom. not sure if doom has co-op, which is what gets me playing serious sam.

Doom 3 is better in my opinion. Plus Doom 3 BFG includes doom 1 & 2 :)

Better to buy Doom 1 & 2 than to buy Doom BFG. You cannot extract those from the game so you'll never be able to play any of the maps that where made for them. (And trust me, there are a LOT of maps made for those two) Or the mods for that matter.

Doom 3 BFG is an abomination.

Just play the orignal doom 3 through other means, besides, look up sickmod and wolfen texture pack.

Serious sam series is really good.

Doom 3 all the way. Get the BFG Edition. Serious Sam 3 sucks.

I've beaten all Doom games and I've beaten Doom 3 two times and I still want to play them all over again. Can't wait to get my hands on the BFG Edition.

Nah. BFG edition craps all over the original game. And you cannot buy the original Doom 3 in steam. So yeh, just get SS3.

Serious Sam 3 is about slaughtering hordes of violent monsters with satisfying guns in wide open environments. Doom 3 is about fighting one, two or maybe even three whole little enemies at a time with firearms that feel like airsoft guns, all the while avoiding jump "scares" in dark, repetitious corridors.

The difference is that one is a linear collection of extremely dark monster boxes that claims to be pseudo-horror. The other is a colourful and vibrant slightly less linear over-the-top classic shooter with a disappointing start but a much better mid to late game.

They both could have been better but I still found a lot of fun to be found in Serious Sam 3.

Serious Sam 3 is pretty awesome, but Doom 3 is still much better. Anyway I prefer Painkiller to both.

Serious sam 3 its much better doom than doom 3, because d3 its a survival action fps and ss3 its just pure action like the old dooms

Serious Sam 3 of course. I would normally recommend Doom 3, but you can only buy the BFG edition, and that is nothimg more than a piece of crap-

Pretty sure it's back in business, even though it shows as N/A sometimes, you can still buy it.

I've been wondering about the answer to this question for a few hours now and really broke it down into what I like and don't like, etc. When it comes down to it I'd say Doom3BFG beats Serious Sam 3.
Though honestly with serious sam 3 being on such steep discount there' no reason to pass it up, get both if you can otherwise pick up doom 3 on the next sale

I didn't know d3bfg came with doom 1 and 2... I happen to still have my original floppies of the games and a rom disc with over 1k maps so I don't pay much attention to deals for games I already have unless it has to do with dlc

I love the Serious Sam's series... but Doom 3 was amazing when it got released. Also Doom 3 is a great quality game while SS3 is probably the weakest in the series (taking release dates into account, ofc).

My advice... ignore Serious Sam 3 and get Doom3+Serious Sam 1 and 2 wich are dirt cheap and probably better than SS3.

Don't know about the BFG edition tho... but i don't see why you can't get the old one.
