What makes Half-Life series so....overrated?

In HL2 Ep3 they reveal that the G-man is actually GabeN Man and the game ends there.

You ever played a game that depends heavily on mods? You played Skyrim for example? If so, then Half-Life says "You're welcome!".

I've NEVER played Half-Life 2, I'm trying to win HL2 here but I've entered 560 giveaways and still not won HL2.. :(

Honestly, I didn't know what the fuss was all about for ep 3 until yesterday, when I beat ep 2. Now I need to know what happens next!

Half Life isn't over rated, they've just perfected cliffhanger endings similar to LOST where you must see the next episode or you simply wont survive.

Srsly, I need ep 3 NOW

Who the hell is G-man, what is in G-man's case, where is Xen, what about Boralis, what will Combines do, what about Aperture, why Gordon doesn't tell anyone...

I don't know really. Played half way through the first game, got bored and never played it again.

I think most of the hype around the first game (and its expansions) was that it was one of the first FPS-s with a storyline. No cutscenes, no dialogue lines for Gordon, which made it easier for the gamer to immerse in the atmosphere. The good feelings about that game is what makes me a fan, the nostalgia.
When HL2 came out, I thought it's an AWESOME game but not a Half-Life. I got used to it since, and I want episode 3 as much as everyone else. (And I still think, it's the only (or at least first) FPS that has characters with realistic facial expressions.)

I'm guessing because the original Half Life was very well rounded with good parts in criterias, and the following games continued the story with the same quality. But its true that it is quite overrrated, the games are really good, but not ZE BEST EVAH as somme preach.

Because they were (are) great stories that wasn't close to anything that was out at the time. Don't get me wrong I loved all the Doom and Quake games (still do). But when you loaded up Half Life, you got a different type of experience and a great story.
