Hello,

I made a game for android devices, and I would really like to share it with someone. Tell me your honest opinion, rating it in Google would also be handy ! :)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Gediminas.Bublys&hl=en

It's non-commercial and free :P

Plus I have a give away to share !

http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/YY34R/burnout-paradise-the-ultimate-box, enjoy ! :)

Does it have online highscore or why does it need wifi and full internet access?

Don't worry, it just sends your data to the creator of the game. lol

It actually uses md5 for password decryption, and server is protected against sql injections. It has highscores only for competition. Although you are not forced to login. You can skip that part and still play it. If you feel more comfortable you can create the password as same as the username. That's what I did.

I was more asking if it uses any mechanics to collect data from me so you make money :)...but it has an online leaderboard, maybe its really because only of this :D will check it later out, my system will warn me anyway if there are any data collectors hidden^^...

What app are you using to check for hidden data collectors?

Haha, there are no data collections, the only data I collect is score, username, and password :)

Why not use Google Play Game Services then?

The game was a little part of the university project. Despite that the more I develop everything myself, the better I will understand how everything is working. And finally when I will be looking for a job, I will have a live example of what I did, what can I do and etc. etc.

His server is 'protected against SQL injections' so using MD5 is irrelevant. He could store everything in plain text because of his protected server!

SQL injection isn't the only way to get to the database. I bet Adobe's server was protected against SQL injections too. But you know what happened... It's good to have a habit to use as many protections as you know. You never know what hackers may know that you don't know. So properly storing passwords is the first thing you should do.

thank you for your comment. I already read your sent links, the next thing I am going to do is to improve the protection.

Anyone with half a brain should be able to apply patches as they're released. If the patches are up to date, then that would still leave you open to stuff that "hackers may know that you don't know".

My previous post was a joke about the OP and his statement about being "protected against SQL injections" and his apparent inexperience or lack of knowledge on the subject. In case you need a further explanation, this is why I suggested MD5 was irrelevant. If it were true that he was protected SQL injections, he must "very knowledgeable" and as such wouldn't need MD5.

It's not nearly as funny when you have to explain the entire thing to someone though.

I am sorry being new with PHP i've now aquired a PHP expert to fix any security problems with the PHP backend who has now shifted from the MD5 hashing function to SHA1() to hash passwords, also has prevented SQL injection attacks using mysqli_real_escape_string().

Please accept my appoliges for any problems caused, I hope you go on and play the game as i intended :)

He rated his own game...and gave it a 5.

Is that bad ? xD I need to get it out of the "Unrated" list as fast as I can, so more people will try out my game. Either way you are free to rate it :)

I would say that it's kind of bad thing to do yes. Let your customers rate it if they feel like it, but don't try to affect the rating by rating your own game.

You got your point there, but one vote compared to many means nothing. In several days (hopefully) costumers votes will outweigh my vote.

Well, if he really likes his game I don't see why he couldn't rate it. Anyway, has he said, it's only one vote and other players' votes will soon outweight his.

Look at DayZ reviews on Steam, half of the highlighted ones are 5 star made by their own developers.

Personally I would rate a game I made a 1 and put as a comment. "God dammit, why cant I make the next Pokemon!!".

Permalink

In that case I would doom my game's future in the very first day :( Because people would see it like so "Oh, it has only 1 star, I will not bother with it." :/ Well, at least that's how I am thinking :) I may be wrong.

I installed it on my Wayteq Xtab70-dci.
It runs really well, is challenging enough and I enjoyed playing it overall.
My only issue with the game is that at the start of a level it shoots a laser because I touched the screen to start the level...

Try restarting the game, and tell me if that solves your problem, thank you for you comment ! :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope, didn't solve it.
I installed it on my ZTE Blade phone too, it works there fine.
I just noticed something else:
On my phone the control arrows are on the left like they should be and the fire button is on the right. But on my tablet the right arrow is on the right side and it fires if I touch the screen anywhere else.
If it's relevant: My phone runs Android 2.3.7, has physical buttons and my tablet has Android 4.2.2 without physical buttons.

I'm sorry to hear your problem. Try changing user interface type in settings. Option C uses the accelerometers, you could try it out. And when you press the screen it shoots. Check it out. :) Plus try playing with settings, user interface scale, if you use A or B option.

The point is that I don't have a tablet, so I can't test my game on it. So maybe I will try to exclude my game for tablets :/

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I see, so that's what the interface type does! :D
Well then, on both devices:
A works fine, but when I use B or C the laser still goes off when I start from the "Touch to start" screen.

Edit: You should add a retry button to the "Level clear" screen for users who try for perfect and, a help menu for the settings tab or at least description to the layouts :)
Don't know if this is an issue, but when I am killed by the last ball after shooting a laser the "Game Over" screen changes to the "Level clear" screen.
Also my tablet has 1280x800 resolution. On the game over screen I can see some thin black lines between letters G and a, right from both e letters and over and right from the letter o, on the Level clear screen I can see them next to both l and both e letters in the word Level.
Further inspection on this: you seem to use pictures with white background for every letter. They seem to be overlapping and this might cause the black lines.

Thanks for pointing out the line bug. I think I know where the issue is. And for the other suggestions, I will look into them, they should appear soon in an update ! :P

Oh, sorry, looks like I missed a half sentence in one of my lines.
So again:
The Game Over screen changes to Level clear screen when I shoot a laser before getting taken out by the last ball and the laser takes down the ball. So I die but actually win :D

Hehe, the death bug is known, I will fix it eventually, I have to add only 1 if sentence (I think so) and it will be solved. However I am so lazy in doing it... xD

the really reminds me of the game ''bubble trouble''
and i really liked this game :D however if you wanna go all in with this game i would not expect people to buy it for more than 6$

maybe you should lock some parts of the campaign so only buyers get that

Thank you for your thought. However I am not into selling it. And if I am going to sell it, it is going to be 1$ each. But I am more into adding a donation link, and leave it to the will of the costumers, maybe one day Google's play developer fee will pay off, maybe it won't.

I hope you like it, don't forget to rate it ! And any ideas how to make it better is always welcome ! :)

So, I'm a filthy Kindle Fire user and thus far I've been insufficiently motivated to figure out side-loading or just root the damn thing. Since I'm assuming you aren't on the amazon app store, is there a direct .apk download available somewhere? I know it doesn't help your play store rankings, but it's the only way I'm gonna try it anytime soon.

Sorry, there are no .apk files stored in the internet.

I will add Amazon into my future plans. I know not a lot about it, but I imagine there is a registration fee as well as like in Google. I'm a student and I can't afford fees, especially when I am making completely free product.

Okay seems alright.. But one thing what I have problems with is that the left and right keys are so close to each other... Yes I made the ui bigger scaling but still.. If there is some space between them it would make the moving better. For me at least.

Try changing the 'User interface Type' into B, it might solve your problem.

I tried that already. I don't want that left and right are at the edge on the screen. Just maybe some space between them in type A.

I think I'll add another one slider to specify the space between LEFT and RIGHT, you gave me a good idea, einfachGaer !

Unfortunately you are right. PC games require way more resources and knowledge than phones. Who knows, maybe one day I will release a PC version of my game. But I can't really compete with bubble trouble... :D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Really? I think it's opposite. You have to make sure the screen is flexible for every phone/tablet, then there's optimization. Though of course you don't always put little games like these on PC because they won't get as much attention as on mobile. But I hope you'll game will grow out into something well known! There's never enough Lithuanian indies! \ o /

Well, the models have to be more detailed for the PC. Other than that you have a resolution there as well, so you are facing the same screen issue as in tablets/phones with the screen size. And yes, most games for the PC are imagined to be way bigger than the one I made. Plus I am pleased to read your opinion. Thanks! Comments like so do inspire me to work even harder! :)
