People want to be heard. Even if their opinions are the same.

Always wondered the same thing. I can understand if the posts are seconds or even a minute within each other as its happened to me. But when someone posts the same answer hours later...hell I've seen someone post in a thread that was a couple months old/dead.

Comment to entry ratio. At one point this was a common entry requirement for private groups even though the stats have been skewed with data loss some people may have stuck with that mentality.
Comment has been collapsed.
What would that achieve? :P
Besides, it would be easier by just spamming "thx" on giveaways, like many people do... Too many, in fact...
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah ... I used to do that, but then I got lazy! :P

Good thing you stopped or I would have probably blacklisted you. :x

What? I was new and it seemed like the nice thing to do. Also, I hand-typed every single "Thank you" I gave so it's not like I had a bot that did it for me. Now I just say thanks for giveaways that I win.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, I meant if you copy pasted "thx" everywhere. If you typed a sincere "thank you", that's fine. ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
Well good. I also think I used several different thank yous so it wasn't the same thing over and over.

We'll never know what it said... ;_;
Well, unless the OP of that reply un-deletes it or tells us what it said, but that never happen.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's even worse when it's edited instead, though. :x
Comment has been collapsed.
Nah, the worse is when there's a loooong chain of replies discussing something, and then one of the posters suddenly edit their posts because they said something stupid. I've seen it happen a few times, really annoying.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm actually shocked at how much attention this is getting o.o People probably thought this is a serious matter.
Comment has been collapsed.
Nah, just an interesting topic which hasn't been discussed before. It's a nice change to reply to a thread about something other than the usual "which game is better" or "why is my level not raising" or "can i haz geams pls".
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm glad you find my rage inducing pet peeves interesting! >:c (I don't actually rage but I do sigh and shake my head)

I might not agree with you about similar posts being bad for a discussion, but everyone has different opinions and yours is an interesting point of view which I do believe I can understand. Personally, I think that more posts means more slightly different expressive replies, which adds variety to a discussion.
Of course, that's just me, and it also depends on the circumstances. I mean, if someone asks, let's say, "why can't I give away [game which was free]", and someones replies "because it was free"... And about two hours later, someone else replies saying the same thing, then yes, obviously this is an annoying behavior and could be slightly annoying.
But for another example, this thread; I'd much rather see everyone describe their own opinions on the topic at hand, than one person replying and everyone else simply skipping the entire discussion rather than voicing their opinions simply because it has been already answered.
(Sorry for the slightly too long wall of text. :P)

This is what I'm talking about. This is what I qualify as posts that only need 1 answer. I don't mind when opinions are similar and voiced differently.

I feel like people should be more proactive in closing their own threads when the issue is solved.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not everyone reads previous posts, some people just want to get down and dirty with their opinion or statement :p I, myself, always read everything in a post, but mostly out of curiosity. If I comment, and it ends up being a duplicate comment due to someone else posting just before, I'll change it so it's not a duplicate XD

It 's cause the reply box is directly beneath the OP here. (I have my shiz reversed because I think the nature of the site lends itself well to that compared other places. ).
On most other forums it's at the bottom after all the replies on a given page. This means that elsewhere I'd already see that others have said what I was going to say as I navigate down towards the reply box.
Comment has been collapsed.
You assume they would read in that case. Ahhhh I remember when I still had faith in humanity also :D

Because some of the users are not mature enough to understand that this is tiredsome for those who enjoy reading the whole forums, but keep in mind these people who make duplicate comments are also create quality posts with or without random gifs.
In the end this community its your own entertainent here and there, so its fair to understand that this community needs applaud.

Oh, I just had a thought! The title could have more meaning than intended! Like, people should proof-read before they hit comment :3 Sometimes that could save a lot of confusion or anger XD

Who needs to be "original" these days when mimicry is how you get ahead in life. ;D
Comment has been collapsed.
Hah, I'll post this bit without reading!
10 minutes later.
Ahem, anyway- Personally I normally try not to say anything that was already said. The end result is that I've been around here for more than 3 years and have only 4700 comments (that's very little considering I've entered twice as many giveaways :P )... or maybe that's just because of social anxiety. Either way, it was pretty stupid back when people used to judge you by comments/entries ratio. ^_^
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't imagine that still going on today with the number of users on this site. That would be so ... many ... comments ...

I hadn't really thought that social anxieties would extend to online activities. I'm quite shy and have a number of issues with social anxieties, but I've never had a problem online. Although, that could quite possibly be attributed to the fact that I've always been an avid reader and a longtime lover of words, so any excuse to see my thoughts form into letters is a great opportunity.

Exactly the same here. Online, I'm pretty open, but in real life I'm a completely socially awkward person.

I can express my feelings much better through writings, if that was the question. I'm not very talkative in real life.

Hmm, depends on my mood I guess. I love to read when I feel like reading, and I've read lots of books in the past (even looong boring ones). If I'm bored, I'll read anything I can get my hands on, but I usually go to the forum for that nowadays. :P
I'd say I really love reading, but just not enough to make it an addiction. If that were the case, I'd probably pick reading over gaming.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think I probably enjoy reading more than gaming, but its pretty hard to get myself to read at home. Too many other distractions to actually sit down and read. A while ago, I started making a habit out of getting out of the house to be somewhere else to read. Its mostly to breakfast on weekends and sitting at a bar on weekend evenings, but at least its a few hours a week.
Granted, it probably strikes a lot of people as odd that I'd go to a bar and just read, but it seems preferable to just sitting there and staring off into the middle distance, like I did before. Plus, I live alone, so sitting at home only compounds my lonely existence.

That's good. Reading can definitely improve one's vocabulary drastically, depending on the level of "complexity" of the book.

Sometimes while your typing a reply several people post something before, sometimes it for other reasons...but i find this happens to me more then not.
I have been first to a topic but by the time i reply sometimes 3 or 4 others already beat me to it,that is just how the cookie crumble.Sometimes people just like to reply with there thoughts even if it has been answered, sometimes people do it to troll.
I not sure it is worth getting pissed about maybe a bit annoyed but getting pissed on the internet is just silly,it is like being pissed at your car for not starting then cursing it as if some how it will make it work.
And like i said sometimes people want to share what they think regardless if the question has been answered or problem solved which is there right.Though i suppose someone has mentioned this but eh i thought i would still share.

More seriously, repeating what someone else said enforces the message sent to the user. Just look at what happend after numerous "thanks is spam" threads - lots of ppl think it's accepted and encouraged to not say anything at all. It goes to the point that some don't even thank you after they get their win (

I don't say thanks in every single giveaway I join... But I always do when I win.

I'm not a very active member on the forums here but every once in a while I start reading a few topics. This probably shouldn't bother me as much as it does but I can't help getting irritated when I read comments and find basically duplicate posts from different users. Why do you people not read the previous comments before posting your input? And no I'm not talking about topics with 20 pages of comments... I'm talking about topics where there's 6 posts and 4 of them basically saying the exact same thing for something that should only take 1 answer. Is there a prize for posting that I don't know about? Or why do some of you feel like saying the same thing the person above you said is necessary?
