Rage quit OSK after 45 minutes. I've got no issues with a game being brutally difficult if it is well made and requires skill to master. This one is deliberately unfair on top of the controls being shit. My backlog is too big to waste time on a game I'm not enjoying. On to something else.

I tentatively played Growbot for the backlog puzzle tag, but please let me know if it isn't an acceptable submission—I already noted this on the tracking website, but started playing it last month and didn't realize how close I was to the finish line.

I love this idea so much, I saw the post now but I was already starting to clear the backlog of games I got here when the month started, since they are mostly small games.
I am not gonna participate in the GA this month because I prefer to clear at least 80% of my wins here, I think it's the correct thing to do. Now I'm focusing in:

If you want to be part of the leaderboard you will have to enter the games you are playing (as long as they are fitting) on the event page. Once they are approved you will see the GA links, but noone forces you to take part in any of them. But that is the way to get onto the leaderboard.

Hi, I have questions.
1)What is meant by "backlog games"? I'm not sure what a backlog is or what would count.
2)Is there is an alternative option for unusually long games to be considered "beaten", other than actually beating it? I recently won "ADOM: Ancient Domains Of Mystery" & the HLTB time for it is 77.5 hours!

"Backlog games" is a term generally used for unplayed games or games you plan to play but haven't gotten around to yet. In the context of this event, they are any Steam game you own that you haven't won through SteamGifts. They don't have to be actually unplayed, as long as they fit the theme for backlog games and have enough content left in them to be counted as an entry.
For your second question, it's best if you get an answer from the organizers, but to my knowledge, any games that have an end need to be finished to count as a valid play. Here is what I personally do for longer (not endless) wins:

To the first questions the answers people have given are 100% correct.
To question number 2, as long as there is an ending, that's what needs to be reached for the game to be counted as beaten. Looking over the achievements for ADOM: Ancient Domains Of Mystery there are several for completing the game, any of those would do.
If you are unsure if you can beat a longer game like that for the event, maybe try a short game (can also be a backlog game as long as it fits the backlog category) first to make sure you have finished a game for the month, then try your hand at the long one.
If it is actually an endless game then it's either average HLTB time or 25% achievements.

Wow, I didn't know that about the backlog games! I had been trying not to play too many of my won games so that I could save them for pagywosg. Funny how this monthly event to encourage playing had actually caused me to play less often.
Question 3: If 1 month isn't enough time for me to beat a long game, could I start in one month, then beat it during a later month and have it count for the later month? If so, would that require fitting the theme of each month?

Yes you can do that. Though only the time/achievements that you spent/got in the month you've beaten it will count towards the leader board so we would ask you to put all the time/achievements you've gotten before that month in the stats for before the month. And yes the game needs to fit the current theme of each month you will add it.
Also if you have game with story DLC's or with DLC's with achievements you can add it to different months for each DLC. You do not have to beat main game and all DLC's in one month (though you sure can try ;) )

This game seems to be removed from steam so you can't find it by typing the name, use the AppID instead 514970. Just checked and that works. It's always a good idea to use the id if you can't find it with the name. Though there might be some games that even then can't be found because they got completely removed even out of the database.

Anyone who does not have any unactivated wins. You can participate even if you don't have any SteamGifts wins, see the "Have already completed all your wins?" below as it applies to this scenario too.
Extra Rules:
If it gives you one bundle of games with one steam ID then it depends. Do they each have achievements of their own (including an ending achievement)? Then go ahead and play them separately. Though make a note in the notes section, so we know what to look for. Non achievement games or games that play continuously (e.g. all entries play through without an ending between them) are not allowed atm since we do not have a good way to track them separately.
