What's better? Manga or Anime?
Answer 3: It depends.
Really, sometimes the anime will be amazing and the manga sucks, sometimes it will be the other way around. It also depends on the person. Do you like reading? Do you have some level of imagination which will make the manga just as entertaining as the anime? Do you prefer to experience it as it was originally created, or you prefer to watch the story unfold as an animation?

manga doesnt end!? how about ignore all the 200 episode 200 book long fake series that are designed to make money (same goes for games like pokemon)
chobits - standard series 20something episodes, standard manga 10something books
besides, it depends on the series, some things are hard to read, others are terrible animated

They have their merits. I've read a light novel that was turned into a manga. Lesser details but better visuals in a way. The pace of updates is what kills me. Let's say since LN had the material, then you wait for the manga to catch up. Or you have the manga and wait for the anime to catch up but when the anime catches up to the manga you'd have to get fed with filler eps.

I started reading Moonlight Sculptor LN mainly because I chanced upon the manga. Heck I was reading One Punch Man before the anime come out and people decided they loved him/it lol. I might just settle for catching up via the Anime for that one.

I prefer to read (officially translated) manga for the most part. I like the characters to speak in English, but the English dubs in anime are usually rather poor.

I'll give some of my examples:
Anime for Overlord were only for sells. And they made a great job since the LN's sales went up.
I prefer the art visual of the anime from JoJo, rather than the manga.
I had read the manga of Hokuto no Ken since... well. the adaptation was of 198x, and it was quite different from the manga.
One punch man manga, adapted by Murata, it's a god tier art style. Madhouse can't even reach the heels. Same from the manga of Fate Kaleid Prisma Illya, the art visual it's just spectacular.
Naruto... well... I got quite bored of the anime, so started the manga and was enjoyable.
One piece and bleach I only read the manga since it's one of those "never ending filled episodes".
Danmachi I read a little of the LN, since I enjoyed the anime, and well... you get the idea that it was just for selling.
And for Gate, well... all the censure of the anime... just...
So, on short:
Long anime = I prefer the manga
Enjoyed the anime = Read the manga/LN
If you are not interested in more of what showed the anime = Don't bother (for example, some anime of 12/13 episodes)
btw: here's the god tier waifu, if you wanna learn:

Uh, that's a false premise.
Anime typically come out after manga, and offer the manga writer a chance to reorganize parts of the story to better fit later plot developments, to add more depth to character, and to add more side scenes to display more supportive story elements.
Ergo, anime is often a better experience.
Manga often isn't under as much formatting pressures, allows for more tie-ins/side-stories, allows for author notes, etc.
Ergo, manga is often a better experience.
The point being, it's like comparing dubbing to japanese voices-
Yes, typically [anime, original japanese voices] are better experiences, but that needs to be assessed on a per-story basis.
Dragonball Z is pretty famous in annoying a lot of people, since the same female voice actress voices half the male cast in the japanese version, so many people actually prefer the dubbed version.
Similarly, sometimes legitimately good voice actors are used in dubs, and compare well even to the best japanese voice actors.
It's not remotely a simple 'A versus B' argument- that just misses the point entirely.

It depends. If it's long running shit like One Piece or Naruto with filler that quite literally wastes hours of your life you can't get back, manga is what you want. For shorter stuff it really just depends on which is made better. For example the Attack on Titan anime is a lot better done than the manga.

Any anime adaptation is made solely to sell merchandising, you can't deny about that fact.
As for if it's better to read the manga or watch the anime, it ultimately depends on who is actually directing the anime.
I mean, when an anime is based off a manga, they already have the material and how the setting goes, so they just need to iron it out and make perfect animation during key scenes which impact the viewer.
For example, One Punch Man anime is directed by the same one who did Space Dandy, which is an incredible anime (I recommend watching it if you didn't) and he knows what's he's doing.
So my opinion is, watch who is directing any anime, compare his previous works and then you'll find out if it's worth a shot or not.

can be both for example in MY OPINION the manga of Golden boy sucks compared to the small series of the anime
but as for Gantz the Manga is so much more enjoyable and indepth storywise compared to the anime
In general i think reading the manga can be more enjoyable as for example i prefer violent anime´s but a lot gets censored this is less in manga´s wich for me makes it more enjoyable.
than again also a big fan of anime[subbed!] but a lot of awesome concepts u sadly won't find yet in the anime but in the manga's but once again this is just my opinion

I prefer the manga over the anime in nearly all cases. The manga usually has the clearer structure and is focused on the storyline. Anime often feels dragged out mainly because they have to avoid catching up to the source material or the start doing filler episodes or change the storyline which often enough does not work out. Or just stop in the middle of the story (Eyeshield21 stopped after the semi-final ....). The best animes are those who use mangas which have already ended so they can stay close and true to the storyline like FMA: Brotherhood or Parasyte.
There are often strange design decision which even with small changes can change whole characters ([spoiler] At the end of Attack on Titan they spend a whole episode with Eren standing around like a wimp because he couldn't make up his mind, in the manga he does transform instantly).
On Visual Novels I can't decide. I am too lazy to read the source material so the anime is a nice alternative. Also there are anime original storylines which can be quite interesting.

I prefer manga because anime takes time. With manga, I can read at my own pace. Since I read it on my phone, I can set it down anytime I need to, and resume whenever I can. With anime, I can't watch it in the last 5 minutes of class or on a 10 minute bus ride.

Both are good.
But I'm a lazy bastard, so voted Anime.

While I've only ever read 1 Manga (and plan to read 2 more some time before the north pole melts) and 1 Light Novel in both cases after watching their respective animes, I think I can safely say: It depends on the anime/manga/light novel/series AND the person in question.
As far as I know it's generally considered that whichever came first is better since it held the creator's original idea. So in most cases Manga or Visual Novels.
However not anyone can just dive into those. Personally in order to get the fullest of reading a Manga I need to watch the anime first in order to get a "feel" for how the characters sound. Similarly for reading a Light Novel/Fanfic/whatever I not only need to know how the characters sound but also how they look. I really, really suck at understanding descriptions of how people look/sound so if I don't actually see/hear them I am likely to just use whatever "feels" right to me rather than how the characters were actual described. So if I try to watch something starting from text, to images, to animation with voices I'm likely to get confused if I didn't get the description right. (So basically, I'm just a weirdo.)
So, uh... I'd answer both to the poll if it had an option. :P

My favorite series are often in the form of manga, but what I enjoy most time is watching anime through streaming.
When I get a surge of getting to read some manga, I usually go to manga cafe. It has shelves full of manga everywhere in the room. I can pick anything from my favorite ones to yet unfamiliar ones which I get interested in there. I believe this is one of the common ways for Japanese to read manga. Another way is getting manga magazines which have the latest episodes of famous series at that time, such as One Piece.
Watching anime is more casual enjoyment for me. I often watch them between playing games. Some are for relaxing, some are for getting stimuli.
I can't say which is better, since they are different media. Both are depending on contents, occasions and our tastes.

On one hand, it's much easier to get into anime because moving pictures and faster plot delivered.
On the other hand, they fucked up the anime adaptation of my favorite manga.

Lots of debate has been made on whether the manga is better than the anime. After I went through some research on some anime that I was considering watching, I realized that many anime were made just to sell products. (No game, No life ------ The Devil is a Part-Timer etc.)
Also, anime ends while the Manga doesn't end, and sometimes the anime is completely different story from the original material!
I like Anime, but I really feel sad when anime leave you off with a "read the manage" or "read the light novel".
Anyone else have qualms about this trend?
