*NO MORE SUGGESTIONS/ENTRIES PLEASE! I've already ordered a 760w Seasonic platinum PSU and a Ducky Shine 3

So I got an unexpected windfall today and even after ordering a 39" 4K TV and a second GTX 770 to help power it I still have plenty of dough left over. So the two things I'm thinking of upgrading are my keyboard, and my PSU.

As far as keyboards, I had been using a Razer BlackWidow (which features cherry MX blue switches), but it's currently being RMAed due to a faulty cable. I figure when I get the replacement back I can use it on my "guest" computer and buy myself the top-shelf keyboard I should have bought in the first place (please, learn from my example and don't buy Razer). For my next keyboard I'm looking to (probably) move to Cherry MX brown switches, and I'm also looking for a detachable cable with PS/2 option, and backlit keys - preferably multicolor programmable ones. I know I've seen one (recently releases) mechanical with multicolored backlights but I can't remember who made it and I'm failing at google. I would also consider a board with white or red lights, but please don't lowball me. I'm not interested in what mechanical keyboard you have that's "good enough," I want the best. I want the mechanical keyboard that will make me scoff at all other mechanical keyboards and if necessary I'm willing to shell out $200 or more.

I would also like to upgrade my PSU, which is currently a very adequate Cooler Master 750watt bronze number. I want something modular (partial is fine), and of course with the juice to run two GPUs, but I must admit that the whole OEM situation mystifies me. I know I don't need more that a 650-750 watt PSU, but I will admit that the whole world of power supply OEMs is a bit opaque to me.

THE GIVEAWAY: This is what you all clikced on the thread for, right? Well before you post your kneejerk opinion let me tell you how this is going to work. I plan to order my new keyboard (and maybe PSU) sometime in the next few days. Assuming I get enough responses, I will create a private giveaway for Far Cry 3 (already purchased and in my inventory) and send the link to everyone who I felt provided an original and useful response.

EDIT: since they keyboard is the bit I'm having the most trouble finding, let me reiterate in as simple terms as possible what I want:

Mechanical switches - totally non negotiable. I'm pretty set on browns, but I also like blues and could maybe go that way if it was a good enough board.

LED backlights - must be per key programmable, ideally multicolor. If single color then must be either white or red.

Cable - detachable is a must, PS/2 a major plus

Other features - I don't give a shit. Extra buttons are neat an blah blah blah, but I never use them. Just as long as it's got N-key rollover.
Backlit keys

EDIT AGAIN: Unfortunately there were too many good responses for my to invite you all individually so I'll just have to put the giveaway here. I'm sure some unscrupulous folks who didn't even contribute will enter anyway, but such is life. http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/lH62V/far-cry-3

This seems to have everything you want in a keyboard.

I have 4 Corsair PSUs and haven't had any problems with them except a high pitched whine on startup. I have 1 Cooler Master 520 which has worked out well also. Just remember to get a well known brand since this is one piece of equipment that can fry your entire computer if it goes bad.

I have to say I really recommend razer products over corsair - if it comes down between products from those lines - simply because of their customer support. I seem to be rough with electronics and have had numerous break befor their time (including 3 microwaves lol), but while corsair took forever to get back to me and bounced me around person to person. Razer answered same day, send a replacement the next day and I recieved it within a week (I'm in Canada so it did have to go a bit further). I was really impressed by them and their products, they are definitly built with gaming in mind. However, that said if you intend to use the keyboard to write essays or papers or any sort of work, lights on it or multiple colours can be distracting - so I have two keyboards.

I don't know about keyboards, but for PSU, I strongly recommend Corsair from my own experience.

The Seasonic SS-760XP2 would be perfect for you! It is fully modular, boasts a 7-year warranty with Platinum efficiency, and is currently available at a lowest-ever price (according to SlickDeals) of $99.99.

JonnyGURU reviewed it's little brother, the SS-660XP2, here. What really sold me is unusually-high efficiency at low (10%) load (I leave my PC on 24x7, mostly idling), rock solid voltage stability, and it is the first unit they ever tested which exceeded 90% efficiency in all five progressive load tests (10-100% load).

Bow before the superiority of the best keyboard created by man: Awww yiss, just look at that bad girl... This is the keyboard a real man should use. Do you think lumberjacks and beartamers use Razers or Das Keyboards? OF COURSE NO, THEY USE THIS DOMINATION MACHINE.

Well, I actually can imagine lumberjack with Das Keyboard, BUT THIS IS NOT THE POINT!!

I prefer cherry switches over buckling spring, but I do have fond memories of my old model M. Used it until the late 90s when Tribes finally killed the spacebar.

Personally, i'd go with a Corsair PSU. As for a keyboard, i can't think of any. I do have a DeLUX K8070, which is a cheap keyboard that looks good and feels good. I'm more of a controller guy tho. (I still game on both k&m and controller (They both have their benefits!))

well I would stay clear of all Razer keyboards
I have a lycosa atm and the buttons keep getting stuck (logically not physically)
my friend owns a new Black Widow and while it gets stuck less it still gets stuck pretty often and its rather annoying (and will get you killed if it happens while you are gaming)

Yeah, aside from the faulty cable my Black Widow a couple times had some issues like that. Never in a game, and easily solved with the old "unplug it and then plug it back in again," but it has left me with a rather dim view of Razer, which seems to be largely corroborated by other peoples experiences.

Since you don't seem as frugal as I am, you should probably go for a Seasonic Power Supply. Those are supposed to be the best, but they're expensive and usually high wattage. I've never gone over 500 watts

I'm no keyboard expert but i'm using the Hp Classic keyboard, my I used to use my old eMachines keyboard but the keys where just so damn big and I couldn't type nothing and my typing speed was like 20, I found this keyboard and found out that it's much more compact and is like $15, you really shouldn't spend so much on some super fancy keyboard.

Keyboards are a very subjective thing. Some people prefer mechanical switches and backlights and you'll have to pay more for a good quality one.

Honestly I am guessing its been said but Ducky keyboards are great and seem to be what you are looking for spec wise, detachable cord, LED's, Mechanical switches, N-Key Rollover, really top quality build, honestly Das has dropped the ball and this is the only one I would pick at the moment, that or maybe a Corsair one, heard those are pretty nice.

This ones nice.

Yup, that's the one. I had to pay over 200 bucks on ebay because they aren't in stock anywhere else, but hopefully it will be worth it. With things like this I've found in the long run it can often be cheaper to "overspend" initially, rather than either buying cheap crap that breaks on or just ending up dissatisfied with your "entry level" purchase and upgrading while it still has plenty of life in it.

I'm pretty broke 10-11 months out of the year, so when I have money I like to treat myself to good things that I will use for a long time. See also Sam Vimes' Theory of Economic Injustice.

The Corsair RM850 is a very nice and silent PSU, according to reviews. As for the mechanical keyboard, I'm not so sure. I usually recommend the Ducky Shine 3, but it's a USB keyboard.
