This guy or girl has been long time active and is easily spotted with his or her 13 years on Steam and hides the main Steam account through family sharing. When one of his/her drone Steam accounts is trade banned by Steam another one takes it's place...

sometimes you can't help people who are going to fall into traps using your good name.. The best you can do is add the person and try to explain the situation.. If they aren't totally dense they'll understand.. I just found out about my first impersonator tonight, sucks because they left me a negative rep when I never dealt with them..

After I explained the situation and pointed out how the two profiles look similar they aren't the same at all.. Namely I have 7k games, the impersonator has 40 games, and has been trade blocked by steam.. The person is still trying to hold out that I'm the one who scammed him.. so sometimes nothing you do will be enough for some people..

Just offer some bits of information.. Also I'd put a warning on your trade topics so that they can't link to you when trying to scam people.., with the link to the person who impersonated you's profile.. Be sure you post it by their unique ID rather than the name as that will only work until they change the name..

I'd also report them to valve, I'm not totally sure if Valve will ban these people or not, but if they copied your profile word for word, and attempted to scam people, I'm hopeful that Valve would..

Glad to hear that this knucklehead got slapped upside the head by Steamrep. I do wish that people like that would be able to get found by the proper authorities and charged with theft. They are scum, nothing more.

Nice that you got a happy ending of sorts, my friend!:)

Link them the SteamReps thread where you found your impersonator.
And for the love of gods, add that guy as a friend to let him know you busted him.

change "i now have one known (to me) copy account" to something that won't be misinterpreted. apparently the user, and even the steamrep mod, now believe you own both of the accounts.

like "this profile is impersonating me and is a known scammer. do not trade or deal with unless you like losing items (alol)" because people will take things the wrong way apparently like the person who reported you did.

honestly, though, linking to a scammer's profile on your own profile never seems like a good idea to me, but you should make it very clear it's a scammer impersonating you instead of what you have currently especially since people who know some english but primarily do not use it may misunderstand.*

The ironic thing is that you got the scammer banned from there the day before! Do they not check on these things before just banning willy-nilly?

Hey wait - that accusation against you is messed up. Skender was invited for a trade, noticed that the other person was a impersonating you, and then went to steamrep to accuse the you of impersonating yourself? That makes no sense.

Put a note into your open trade topics that you have an impersonator and, as talgaby said, add him on Steam to show him that you're on to him.

Yeah, he blocked you. I'll bet that he'll soon switch to impersonating someone else since you know about him.

I hope your SR ban gets lifted soon. Good luck.

I noticed one more thing: the impersonator is adding potential victims to a private group. YOu might want to make a note somewhere that you don't add people to groups to trade with them.

And, he even got the comment left with your impersonator wanting to trade
As that isn't you, i would also suggest telling him so if he accepts,
make him notice that it isn't you by: Looking at the games, wich account the steamtrade profile acually links to, years of servce, and so on.

Not to mention that the guy just needs to look at the two messages on his comment section. The first one from the scamming piece of garbage (Level 10), and the second one being the real justseedy (Level 14). They have different friends, games, etc. Hopefully the guy gets the ban rescinded (since the dumbass scammer has already been banned by the real justseedy).

I tried commenting on his Profile, but Steam is being idiotic and saying that I've commented too much already (since I posted messages on the Profiles of people that have won my giveaways today). Steam can be SO aggravating sometimes!!!

I know it's not your fault, but it's funny how everytime people jump and say "no calling out" and demand to remove links and you are personally asking, one by one, to give that guy a -rep con steamtrades and nobody gives a fuck.

alas it was a person who was nearly cheated (thought I don't think they were in the end( by the said scammer, who is currently impersonating justseedy, who made a complaint to steamrep - as I am sure you can appreciate, justseedy is in the process of trying to get them to realise that even they have been duped into thinking that the real justseedy is the culprit (they are pretty hammer to screws when dealing with these things) - when in fact they are not - the scammer was just linking the trade accounts of justseedy to trick people and is still impersonating their account !!! (no meme there - just a really big scumbag)

They are apart of the Steam Trade Steam group. You should let them know so they can remove them from the group as well as hopefully posting a warning letting people know. You could probably also do that for the other Steam groups that trade that they are in "Trace Center" and a bunch of others.

They even made a group where they take people to discuss trading..

sorry - not sure what you are talking about here - the person who made that report believes that justseedy, the person who made this thread, tried to scam them - when in fact, the person was duped by (redacted for calling out issues - look for the impersonators account location on justseedy steam profile under 'view more info') who is currently impersonating justseedy - just because steamrep allows people to file reports about someone who they believe is trying to scam them, does not mean that that person was not themselves duped by the impersonator ! and thus filed a report about the wrong user - please note,if it is you who filed the report, you were duped and reported the wrong person :(

Heh, because of you, the real justseedy got banned, man. xD You made a mistake. You should have reported his impersonator's profile (that is already banned). You reported an innocent person (and yes, I'm pretty sure you made a mistake).

Look carefully at those pictures. See that the fake account and the real account have different URLs. The one you labelled as "fake profile" is the scammer. The one you labelled as "real profile" is the victim of impersonation. You reported the wrong account and got the victim banned instead of the scammer.

Checked on the forums: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/howto-appeal-banned-and-caution-reputation-tags.58/
This has which forum locations you need to go to appeal a ban.
Saving you some time, about half way down has steamrep ban telling you to go to: http://forums.steamrep.com/forms/appeal.4/respond

This is the Steam ID of the person who scammed you (the one who added you to trade).

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197963478765

This is the Steam ID of the person who you got banned on SteamRep (the real justseedy, who had already gotten the Impersonator banned the previous day!

http://steamcommunity.com/id/justseedy

That is why they are called Impersonators, due to the fact that is what they do! They impersonate the Profile of legit people.

I tried to explain it to you the best way I know how - you followed the links on the profile of a person who is stated as being from the USA - which directed you to the real justseedy steamtrades rep - but justseedy has a profile that says from Uk - the USA one is the one who duped you and is using the links of the real one and is impersonating the real justseedy - the person who made this thread - you were duped by an impersonator, and as such reported the wrong person - see above links from shadowshiv for clarification if required - sorry someone tried to scam you - but you reported the wrong person, and thus they are still happily impersonating on steam as a result :O{ - again, not your fault you were duped, but you might want to alter your report to steamrep to point to the impersonator :)

It was already useless since most reports won't get checked after months or years, so people have to file their reports on their affiliated sites in order to actually see a scammer getting banned.

looks like you already got it removed, but I am a bit curious... is English your native language? when you used "copy account" to mean "scammer" it just seemed like the most terrible choice of words you could possibly choose to use. this is where misunderstandings happen, but I'm just mostly curious.

while SR did make a mistake, I don't think you helped your case much by the way you had your profile initially.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

idk why you linked to steamgifts in your appeal, but then again I don't know why SR banned you (well, I do.. but as to why it was accepted is partially another reason). anything here won't prove anything. maybe the fact the scammer completely changed their profile (and set it to private) again might lend to a defense, but I wouldn't count on it.

you should link to your previous report since you just reported the impersonation account the other day and ask them to double check the SR ban on your account. as "clever" as it may be to report your "own" impersonation account for yourself to get banned, I don't think anyone would go to the lengths to do that.

let's see how fast it takes for you to get unbanned since it only took a day or two for you and the impersonator to get hit with them.

Nope.
SteamTrades Guidelines:

  • Trade feedback should only be used to describe your personal trading experience with a user. It should not be used (i) to post negative comments when you disagree with someone's offer, (ii) for revenge or retaliation when someone leaves you negative feedback, or (iii) for unrelated comments or trading experiences not directly involving you.

SteamGifts Guidelines

  • Use the appropriate avenues for support. If you have an issue with another user, submit a ticket with a user report, rather than calling them out within the community or on the forum.
