I looked up the FAQ and I can't find a definitive answer
from the FAQ:
You should only enter to win giveaways for yourself, and if you win a game, it must be activated and redeemed to the Steam account used during registration.

You can enter for what ever reason but you must activate your win on your account used during registration)

Terms of Service under "If You enter a Giveaway"
any Gift you receive is for personal use, and must be activated, or redeemed by the Steam ID associated with your SteamGifts.com account. The Gift should not be used for other purposes, including by not limited to, trading, selling, or regifting.
much clearer then the faq. ;)

Nowhere to be seen? Let's see, a few quotes from FAQ and Guidelines:
Won gifts should be activated to the Steam account used during registration, and they should not be regifted, traded, or sold.
You should only enter to win giveaways for yourself, and if you win a game, it must be activated and redeemed to the Steam account used during registration. If a friend is interesting in joining giveaways, they'll need to register for their own account.
You could also just use Forum Search option...

Trying to make a profit on a giveaway you've won, very classy.

Haha, yeah that attitude will surely have people sympathizing with you.

Well, the question was a bit out there, no doubt, but I'm not going to fault you for asking [which is always a good idea, when unsure].
(Searching previous threads is always a good idea, though- the same topics come up on SG over and over, which tends to make people a bit worn out in addressing them. If your on-site search doesn't work, use Google and add "Site:steamgifts.com" to the end of your search.)
Your phrasing was pretty.. awkward, though, since it gave an impression of ingratitude. Add in how touchy many of us have become about the subject, given how commonly such things come up based in entitlement and disrespect, and it's easy to assume something negative from the start.
(P.S. Don't forget you can close a thread using the Open button in the top right corner, if desired.)

He read the rules, wasn't sure about how to interpret them, came here to ask, had it explained, abided to the rules, people blacklist him. He may miss out on a couple of games, but the joke's on the losers blacklisting him.

Would not activating the gift and using it elsewhere risk me sanctions here.

I think the confusion here is as to what regifting is.
You're thinking "re-giving-away", while the actual interpretation on the site is that gifting is the giving of a game to someone, and hence regifting is giving a game you've been gifted over to a third party.
While yes, that does have a foundation in preventing direct site manipulation, it also acts to prevent people from taking honestly given gifts and attempting to resell them, spending that money on cheap gifts for CV, gaining levels for more high-value games... in other words, any form of regifting can be used to manipulate the site, if you're willing to put in the effort.
And, of course, that's just if you look at the exploitative elements of the rule. From a community integrity/site dependability angle, it's crucial that people have an idea of what's going to happen to the games they freely give away. So the regifting rule is important in that respect, as well, as it prevents another kind of abuse [that is, the abuse of someone's trust and generosity].

Suspension Permissions
Not Activating Won Gift - 5 days

You would not be perma suspended but it is definitely not allowed. And you would not be able to join SG Tools restricted giveaways because most of them don't allow this kind of rule breaking.

I looked up the FAQ and I can't find a definitive answer to my doubt, so I'll ask here.
Usually, as soon as I receive the key, gift link or inventory item gift for a game, I activate it on Steam and it's done. For the first time however, having won and received a very substantial gift as an inventory item, I'm interested in seeing if I can use it to get some game(s) I'm even more interested in out of it, and Barter would be the place. The creator of the giveaway (which I asked first) has no problem if I decide to use the gift that way - I got it in my inventory, marked it as received, and it's only my problem now.
However, that's the fact of SG's rules, even "unwritten" ones: they exist because in the past, people has tried to exploit the system, like re-gifting won items, especially between small groups, to raise levels. I always thought that there was a specific rule that imposed the activation of the gift ASAP, while in truth, it's only the giveaway creator's responsibility to check (especially in case one activates the gift but does not mark it as received).
So, what should I do? Would not activating the gift and using it elsewhere risk me sanctions here. Where the written rules end and just common sense begins?
