i read about this but honestly i don't see this being any different to the digital only x-box and also i would not be interested in it myself as i have not bought a home console in years since my ps3 and not turned it on in over a year - i can't see them winning any console wars as i bet most people like having Steam on the go like on laptop and say a Switch or ps 4/5 at home

bringing half life vr to playstation vr in return for some sony exclusive ps1/2/3 and 4 games being brought to steam like days gone soon is a no brainier
i can't see them working with Nintendo unless something like mario or zelda or splatoon came to steam

lol a youtuber who needs to make a living from video game topics with title for videos like 'RISE&FALL of X/Y/Z' is not into honesty. Gamers really love their overblown negativity narratives. Always have to be so outraged and entitled yet pretend that's in a realm of research and logic. This guy talks about ability to trade your digital games. Uhm show me any other store right now that allows you to trade in a digital game after you're done with it? Spoiler alert:there's none and it's not happening. Show me what other digital games store has no geo blocking of any kind? The paid modding example? Yeah totally not Bethesda's initiative after they restarted the very same idea under Creation Club and no other company attempted anything like it since...The entire video is like that-building a narrative.

It was The Act Man The Rise & Fall of Valve
Don't know why the poster deleted the link - seems he has a lot of subscribers that agree. Personally, I thought it was all a bit lame, whinging on lack of new games, management style, oh - and Steam are greedy. Who knew...

Cause he is one of those (as I call them) content spam youtubers. No opinion and no original content of their own, just lurking on reddit and Twitter to see what's the latest thing that people are upset about and then quickly churn out a 10:01 video about it (same goes for Jim Sterling). Making content like that requires zero creativity and passion, it's just a matter of putting something out there as quickly as possible while people are still hot about it. Even if the news is something like "indie game developer says games are expensive", he will find a way to turn it into a 10 minute video and draw it out with inconsequent babbling about something that could be said in 2 minutes or less. But then you lose on that sweet youtube ad money, right

They sadly stopped the Steam Controller, which was a great gaming device. I don't expect them to go into any hardware of their own (something I wouldn't be interested in, anyway). Maybe some partnership with MS, since Xbox consoles are basically PCs.

If you search this on google, you'll probably hit "Did you mean: SteamOS."

I wouldn't be surprised if Steam is launching another console with Alienware or another party. It also wouldn't be surprising to see Valve put something on the Xbox Game Pass, Nintendo or Playstation.

Update: Looks like it will be a Switch-like portable gaming PC.
Could be cool as it should be able to play many of your Steam titles.

"Video game and hardware studio Valve has been secretly building a Switch-like portable PC designed to run a large number of games on the Steam PC platform via Linux—and it could launch, supply chain willing, by year's end."

“Will Steam be putting any games on consoles, or will it just stay on PC?” Newell was asked.
“You will get a better idea of that by the end of this year,” he replied, before adding, “and it won’t be the answer you expect.”
