About the Game:

Ubisoft Description

  • Released in November 2002 exclusively on Xbox and PC (followed by other platforms), Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell was an important step in Ubisoft history, the first blockbuster to be developed by Ubisoft Montreal featuring one of the most beloved characters ever created by the studio.
  • Splinter Cell’s core idea revolved around a technological innovation: dynamic lighting. For the first time in a game, lighting cold be modified in real time, enabling developers to rejuvenate the stealth genre and allow players to hide and search in the shadows. Players could also create safe areas by destroying lights, and had to adapt to moving ones.
  • The game was critically acclaimed and received the 2002 E3 official award for best Action Adventure game. With his light goggles and numerous stealthy moves, Sam Fisher immediately became one of the most popular video game characters ever, and the franchise has had continued success, with five sequels, seven novels, and a forthcoming motion picture.

Steam link/description:

Infiltrate terrorists' positions, acquire critical intelligence by any means necessary, execute with extreme prejudice, and exit without a trace!
You are Sam Fisher, a highly trained secret operative of the NSA's secret arm: Third Echelon. The world balance is in your hands, as cyber terrorism and international tensions are about to explode into WWIII.

  • Go Behind the Headlines into the Real World of Modern Espionage - Enter the realistic Tom Clancy universe. Suit up with the latest classified field operative gear and weapons.
  • A New Level of Stealth Action - All the best stealth action plus all new moves. Highly interactive environments giving players more gameplay options and the ability to strategize their actions.
  • Deep Environments. Unparalleled Immersion - Stunning environments driven by the Unreal™ engine. Dynamic lighting and sound effects that match reality.
  • Pulse-Pounding Action on a Global Scale - Over 20 Hours of stealth action. Diverse mission objectives that can be achieved by different means for increased replay value.

It's similar to EA's On the House every now and then, only they apparently want to do it only this year.

Welcome to UPlay. Valve's favourite service, because only its existence prevent Steam from being the worst gaming platform on the market. :D

I had such problems like two years ago, but UPlay has been working just fine for me the last eternity. You still have this problem now? I sadly don't know what the threads and solutions were, it might have been the usual VC Redit and DirectX and so on thing.

i had the same prob. but it finally worked for me .
I uninstalled making sure to remove any leftover folders from the programfiles(x86) folder.
Then installed this from here:
https://ubistatic3-a.akamaihd.net/orbit/launcher_installer/UplayInstaller.exe
Solved it for me ,sorry if it doesn't work for u.

edit;
There's a similar link which is on google that is the wrong one ,about half the size.
The correct installer is approx. 58mb.

Cool, will try that now, hopefully it works, I even installed AC2 yesterday and had it install its old version of Uplay and had it update accordingly and it still gives me the same problem, Uplay crashes when I launch it, it doesn't even ask me to login, it crashes on the "looking for patches" screen

Just uninstalled and removed every trace of it and downloaded and installed from the link you sent and still same problem -_- , and it's not just my computer it doesn't work on my laptop either , it also isn't connection problems because yeah I have really slow internet but I've been to a coffee house thats downloading speed is 20mb/s and Uplay didn't work for me there either

strange , i was having that same crashing problem but a fresh install fixed it.
It's only recently that i've had it working ,haven't seen my Uplay games for a long time because of that useless client.
There's a lot of redists i've also installed vcredists 2005 to 2016 + net framework + directx (all up-to-date)

Aaaah good times with this game's demo on PS2. It showed me how bad I was at stealth.

Stealth is really easy if you just take your time. If you rush into everything you will keep on dying and alerting enemies but if you are calm and time everything it gets really easy and fluid fast. Anyway, I recommend it, great game :)

I know I know but sometimes I try to do things right, and a lucky enemy suddenly appears behind you and eveything goes to the shit.
