Did you watch "Allo allo"?
That's so true Laurens and they did it with no CGI and large funding but it did so work. A very enjoyable series that always was good for a laugh. :-)

The show was entertaining enough to watch on tv, though not entirely my kind of thing. I will always remember him for saying: "You stupid woman!". Never noticed his eyes before though, anyone knows why they're like that?

They did all kind of stupid things, that was like the main line of the series. Doing stuff every episode and making everything worse while doing it. Rene was part of the resistance, had affairs with basically every woman on screen and had his stepmother live above him.. It's all the unique characters together (leclerq, rene, edith, luitenant gruber, herr flick,...) combined that made the show special to me.

Alas, that was one of the shows from the UK that I never had a chance to watch. Mainly I watched Doctor Who and the Benny Hill Show.
Rest In Peace, Gorden Kaye.

Just read that Gorden Kaye has died age 75. For those who don't know who he was, he was famous as Rene Artois the owner of a bar during WW2 in the British tv-show "Allo allo".
I loved this show as a kid and it's pure nostalgia, it reminds me of cosy tv-nights with my parents. Over the years I rewatched the show many times and it's still very entertaining.
Did you watch the show and did you like it?
RIP Gorden Kaye
