Too many useless games besides Arma II, Arma II is even not complete, for 6$ is just ok for this, but for 6$ you can get Arma II Complete. So for 6$ I think not...

Comment has been collapsed.

Yep. Reading between the lines it's pretty much $1 for UFO or $6 for Arma2 :P

Is 1$ for 6 games, and 5$ for 1 more game and 1 DLC (they say 3 games, but it's a lie)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Look again: It says 2 games, and it's a mod not DLC.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, but it was saying 3 games before, they simply changed it and put the mod a more little image too. Also there 1 game and 1 DLC + a mod, not 2 games.

You apparently are unaware of what ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead is.

It's a standalone game. Not a DLC.

It's not. Read the words directly above the 6$ tier: "two more games"

It then lists 3 thing, the 2 games and the mod

Only missing Carrier Command from the $6 tier. Not sure I'm ready to pay the extra $5 just for that...

$1 for TOH, UFO and Tactics is a sure thing though.

Did anyone here play Carrier Command? I'm not that interested in DayZ. Does Carrier Command run well (so I can run it at least with medium settings on an e8400/ATI 4890/4 gb ram) and is it fun?

EDIT: Loved the old one on my Atari ST (yes, I am that old, though I was a kid back then), so if it's comparable to the old game and if I can run it with my current setup I'd buy the 6$ tier for it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I bought it for $9 half a year ago at EB on sale, not a steam link though so I had to disc install. Carrier Command runs well. It's not a very good game. It's a sci fi game in the arma engine. I only played the first bit and got annoyed.. Take on Helicopters is a lot better, QUITE CLOSE to realistic helicopter flying - a LOT harder than ArmAs.

Thanks for the answer. Guess you didn't play the original game? If it's close to the original game and runs well I'd buy it.

Take on Helicopters sure looks interesting, will get the 1$ tier for sure.

Nope never had an ST, C64 guy :)

From this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_BlO1CJn34 looks entirely different.. think of CCGM as basically ArmA with shields/armor and robots. And rails. Don't think there's much strategy involved...

Take On Mars is the one missing from this (alpha steam so of course it's not, just like a3 not gonna happen in a bundle for years hehe) which is similar to TOH.. but in SPACEEEEEE. CCGM wasn't very good imo, trying to do a sci fi game for kids or something.. I just had to buy it for the completionist sake. The 'carrier command' by Realtime games I'm sure is not the same franchise..

Comment has been collapsed.

ACTUALLY! looking at the first video, it actually might be a bit like the original..

'Carrier Command Gaea Mission is a real time strategy game with vehicular combat that tasks the player with taking control of an archipelago using an array of vehicles and tactical gameplay.'

It is top down RTS style - I would say it would have lower requirements than ArmA II so basically i5, i3, even Athlon 2600+ could handle it.. used to play ArmA II on Athlon XP 2600+

Just having done only a few of the first training missions (which were 3rd person combat shooter style), I didn't get that this was actually an RTS, I just bought for Bohemia completionism. Now I have Tactics and a steam version of ArmA gold mwahahha :P

Comment has been collapsed.

Heh, I had a C64 as well. Before I went high end and got my brother's Atari ST.

Read a few reviews and watched the video you linked me to. It seems to be quite close to the original, apparently the biggest problem is the rather crappy AI. But many people say it's not as bad as it was when the game was released (and not that terrible to begin with). I'll buy it, nostalgia wins. Driving a Walrus again will be fun.

The tutorial seems to be a rather crappy and boring shooter and has nothing to do with the real gameplay (according to reviewers, one of the flaws they pointed out - there was nothing like that in the original game at least). Maybe you should give it another try.

Permalink

I definitely give all Bohemia further tries and did mean to - just busy with so much backlog :P and then there's DayZ standalone and other MP time suckers...

I'm still only getting through the SP component of COH2 and bought day it came out.. only a few levels into Hitman Absolution and got that preorder lol.. busy with Super Mario 3D World atm :)

I don't know if they still do this, but back in the early days of the Bundle there were a few customers who were for some reason unable to buy the bundle. They contacted the Humble Bundle people (perhaps the CEO) and they had the bundle purchased for them. I wouldn't say that people should try t take advantage of this, and maybe they don't do this anymore now that they're big enough, but if you email them and thoroughly explain to them your situation, maybe they'd be understanding and help you out.

Alternatively, perhaps you could get someone from another country to buy one for you. Maybe you could trade them in cards or something. Make sure it's a reputable trader, though.

I don't know about the situation in your country, but here when I buy something with Paypal in USD, my credit card or bank account are getting charged in my local currency. I figured it worked the same everywhere.

DISCLAIMER, boring explanation below:

We can't do that because we have an exchange control for foreign currency (our Argentinian brothers are in the same boat), so before ANY purchase must we must have an USD/EURO 'allowance' approved. It's $400 a year for online purchases (Steam , Amazon, etc), and this year it hasn't updated. There are a lot of grim rumors, so let's hope for the best.

Anyway, on a lighter note, I managed to get the games and I can't wait for the download to finish :)

If I wanted to make a giveaway for Arma II + Operation Arrowhead, sending both humble links to one person, would it be ok to list it as Combined Operations?

They're the two titles that make up Combined Operations and CO is bundled as well. I wouldn't be gaining anything and even if you want to consider bundled CV, then CO costs less than buying both individually. I'd actually be losing some bundled cv versus making 2 separate giveaways.

Guessing that many would want to try the DayZ mod so I'd like to be able to gift someone the chance, giving them both of the parts they'd need.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

As long as it comes with everything in the bundle I think it's fine, if you're unsure you could give the other one as a bonus and list one.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thanks, should be ok then. I knew about throwing one in as a bonus, but didn't know if it was ok to give it away as package even if I separately had the constituent parts of the package.

Thought there was chance I might only be able to give it away as Combined Operations if I had an actual Steam Gift in my inventory called Combined Operations.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, I suspect that would be against the rules, because Combined Operations probably isn't going on the bundle list, while the constituent parts are.

(Unless Combined Operations is bundled already for some reason?)

Even if what I made it as is already bundled too? (It is)

I've not avoided anything in the end. We'll see what happens, but I've done it now. If it gets deleted then so be it. Lol, maybe I should've waited a bit longer for some more answers (like yours) before making the giveaway! Hope I haven't done anything wrong.

Permalink

Given the fact that Combined Operations has been bundled, it's perfectly fine. I've done that before.

As long as everything from the bundle is included, and it's not an attempt to bypass the bundle list, it's all good.

You mean what different between Arma II and Arma II: OA ( kind of the expansion of Arma II) . Many people who bought Arma 2 mainly for play Arma II survive mod which call DayZ. Technically you can play DayZ on Arma II or Arma II : OA ; It depends on which server you play in ( DayZ host servers). Nowadays most of them support Arma II : OA .

The new one is not a mod. Day Z the mod is a fan-made mod of Arma 2. Day Z the standalone is it's own fully developed game. The game in the bundle allows you to use the mod (which is free), but does not include the new standalone game.
