Honestly in my opinion I don't like the DLCs they had with Vegas that just gave us new items like the Gun Runners Arsenal (well that was ok) and Caravan Traders DLC. I would rather they give us the ability to use the steam workshop instead and I think that should go the same with Fallout 4.
Comment has been collapsed.
The odds of them adding Steam Workshop to Fallout 4 would probably be low because of console mods. I'm not sure how that would work. But PC users still have the Nexus and if Bethesda wanted to shut that down, they would've done so a long time ago.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, they announced it sometime around E3. The console mods, and probably a lot of PC mods, will be available through bethesda.net sometime after the GECK is released. Whenever that will be. I'd expect some news in the next couple of weeks.
Comment has been collapsed.
The Gun runners and Caravan thing was part of pre order bonus along with the 2 others...it was not part of other dlc, they just added the pre order stuff in with the GOY
Comment has been collapsed.
Gun Runners wasn't, it really was a separate DLC made to address the complaints of the abysmally small weapon selection. New Vegas players had many of the old Fallout players who didn't have time get used to Fallout 3's dozen weapons in total, they were used to have at least a hundred different guns to choose from.
The Courier's Stash is what you were thinking about, it was the four pre-order packs combined as one cheap DLC.
Comment has been collapsed.
You are right,i was thinking of the Courier's Stash...and yeah i agree that should have been included free the Gun Runners and so forth..
I also think any pre order stuff should be free later if released as it is a big FU to those who pre ordered or who did not,as at one time when you use to get pre order stuff that was it,you never got a shot at it again. Now it is just cannon fodder to sell games before release
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm perfectly okay with pre-order non-cosmetic content being released later as low-budget DLC. Honestly, I think it is fair: the one who pre-ordered got it for "free", the ones who came after them can get the same stuff for a very small extra. And if it is only a skin or somesuch, it's okay to have it pre-order only (I think Borderlands 2 did this?); you can have something exclusive to brag about, but nothing substantial.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well each person has there reason,i just think pre order stuff should stay pre order...when it is added later it is clearly just to boost sales...i guess i just come from a different era of gaming..
When GOY meant all released content..or Complete meant everything, and we got expansions not over priced dlc.
Also when you pre ordered that was it,you either got it when you pre ordered or you did not get it at all.
Now people give this stuff a free pass on the excuse of your not forced to buy it,or it is cosmetic only..
But now all pre order stuff gets re-sold or bundled later, sure it may be minor bragging rights and so forth, but still it was fun back in the day to be killing someone with a gun they do not have or had an outfit they could not get.It also made you more of a target for shooters so i had the pride of them hating me because of my pre order not because i killed them.
Now look at this,Season pass is 29.99 now being raised because they are adding more..but at least they are offering to anyone who has bought it by March 1st.
Sad part is most season passes end up like BL Pre or Sniper Elite III where the price is not even close to value of said dlc.Or games like Mortal Kombat, where a dlc can unlock easy fatalities, and this stuff will only get worse.
A damn 10 dollar robot,a companion should never be part of a season pass or dlc unless it adds more then just a companion. At one time this stuff use to be part of an update, not dlc.
Comment has been collapsed.
I very much doubt they are increasing the price because they are adding more than expected. This list in the starting post indicates a normal DLC amount; moreso, probably smaller than expected. It seems to be a simple marketing ploy where they now try to milk more season pass sales because they likely know that after that few people will be rich enough to just buy the DLC at full price… we are talking over a hundred dollars for a simple game here.
Comment has been collapsed.
Your also talking full price, most people do not buy it for full price.
It has been on sale and could be had on GMG for a fair deal,i got my copy from GMG for 41 bucks.Right now i can grab the season pass for 24 dollars.
So most who want the DLC will buy it now before it goes up,but some will still get it after the fact when it goes on sale, because there will always be new people to pc gaming,or someone who finally upgraded enough to play it and so on.
In the end though what you replied to was mostly about pre order stuff and how stupid i think it is now.
Also you can not say how much and if the price hike is just a ploy,as not all the DLC has been released, the first major DLC suppose to be the biggest one yet,and if they do even 3 more big ones like that i would say it would be well worth it.
As i said right now on GMG you can get it for 24 bucks,so for me even if all i got was 2 big major dlc i would be happy with that. That would be 12 bucks a piece.Hell the After Dark DLC for Cities Skylines was 15 and not even close as much contest as this DLC will be.Plenty other games on Steam offer less DLC for more money.
Comment has been collapsed.
Good info, esp on the price raise, I have a personal voucher for 23% off the season pass at GMG, so might be a good time to jump on that before that happens.
Comment has been collapsed.
You'd be getting all DLC for $23.10, less than the big story DLC. It'd definitely be worth the cost.
Comment has been collapsed.
If i was you i would jump on it for 23 bucks you will get everything included even after the price is raised to 49.99.
Though if they raise it that much,it better be some major dlc,and not filled in with 10 dollar packs of guns or companions,it better be above the level of GTA IV DLC,sure one was a bit weak, but for 39.99 at the time you pretty much got another game and 15-20 hours more game.
This better be just as long as the base game or close to it to justify the price hike
Comment has been collapsed.
Heh, funny, except for Fawkes who was an immortal God of Death (and a nice example of how they added companions last and totally forgot to test them), I cannot even remember who were the companions in FO3; they were so bland that I don't think they even had names.
At least Cassidy in FO2 could really wreck stuff in a power armour. Although I agree that companions in FO1/2 were more like liabilities.

The Wasteland Workshop really looks shitty. I hope it'll include missions too, not be only about building cages. -_-
The Automatron will include some missions, but I doubt I'll like them.
I seriously hate customization, settlements, mods, etc., that's why I probably won't like these two.
Now, about the Far Harbor, it doesn't look bad, but because of its price, I expect something really good, so I hope it'll live up to the expectations.
I already have the season pass, so I'll get every dlc for "free". Still, I wonder how many dlcs they'll announce in total? I hope that these 3 won't be the only ones. I'm also 90% sure that they'll have an alien dlc, because of the ufo that appears in Fallout 4, but I hope that it won't be as bad as the alien dlc in Fallout 3. And because of the "magic building" in Fallout 4, I hope we'll eventually see a "magic-related mission" at some point. I had so many hopes about that building, but it wasn't interesting at all.
Comment has been collapsed.
Wasteland Workshop will probably be just like Hearthfire for Skyrim. They're both addons that add more customization and cost $5. They're the "take it or leave it" DLCs. The Automatron may have a couple of quests, but these first two are just to hold people over until May. We'll probably hear about the next batch of DLCs around August if they keep their timings consistent.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, I can't leave them, because I have the season pass. xD I'm only interested in missions, not in customization. :( And yeah, hopefully, we'll see a lot more dlcs with many more missions. :D
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm guessing there'll be at least one more story DLC, smaller than Far Harbor, for about $20. Their original value estimate back in November was $40, and now it's $60. So right now, they're probably working on just one more, but could expand to several depending on how this wave of DLCs goes.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well there heck is the G.E.C.K. to make better mods, and raising the price of the season pass, what a dickish move
This may force me to just wait till a huge discount on the dlc...i should used the GMG code to get it for 22 bucks all well live and learn i guess
Also 10 bucks for a stupid Robot, did they get that idea from Borderlands Pre?

Also 10 bucks for a stupid Robot
Still better than horse armor.
Comment has been collapsed.
Fair enough but at least they lowered the price, though at the time it was more useful for console people and why i bought it when they lowered the price, but it was a pure slap in the face to PC users lol.
Though that was when i still mainly used a console,i just think a companion should be free unless it adds a lot, like missions and so forth, the A.I is terrible anyhow so i just use my companion for a pack mule and have them wait before i do battles or buildings.
Comment has been collapsed.
So, an overpriced companion pack, an overpriced crafting pack and a story DLC that cost more than most full games that probably give longer play time.
Yep, Bethesda.
The good thing is that eventually the entire pack will most likely cost like 30 bucks retail price, so if one is patient enough, they may get them for a price that is actually worth it.
Comment has been collapsed.
You mean very patient? as it sounds like not all dlc will be ready this year, and even so i do not see huge discounts for it that soon. Most who bought Fallout 4 will buy this, heck most of my friends who bought it already own the season pass.
Though you could say that about most games,at some point logic tells anyone it will be cheaper if given enough time,i am a cheap bastard but i draw the line in waiting years to play the games i want to play now lol.
Comment has been collapsed.
Patient as in 3-6 months after last DLC. Yes, it may mean that they prolong DLCs up to 18 months after release; but then again, this is a SP game, so it's not like one has to rush to play it upon release because servers may depopulate in a few months. And I sincerely doubt that anyone around here hasn't got enough games on their backlog to not have anything to play until then.
But, to give a short answer… yes, very patient.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well there is a backlog for a reason, and most people have it for one reason, not for lack of time to play so much as they always adding games to a backlog,so it just grows. My backlog is a little of both, not always time, and i keep adding to it,and also a lot of them are low desire to play, hence why they usually end up in it.
Single player bares little to me,as that is pretty much the only ones i play.I prefer to play stuff i want to play now,not play through games rotting in my back log because i have no desire to play them, hence why they are in it.So why play games i do not really want to and wait 2 or 3 years for one i want to play now.
But if you can, then that is great, either way i am sure you will enjoy it when it is cheaper.
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe I have to wait until GOTY version's price is lower than Season Pass on sale.

That is what happen when you run a business and you have shareholders who want a steady income.
Even as much as GTA V made R* still had to fold under the pressure of needing steady income instead of it in big chunks with releases like GTA.That is when shark cards where born.
Though i will agree a lot of DLC is greedy in the price, but i do get why they are doing it as they need steady income flow.Though so far Beth for the most part has always done good DLC and most of the time worth the money.Though i would say Skyrim fell short on value for DLC and Borderlands Pre.
What i do not agree with in this, them using Robots and Workshop DLC as filler added value,2 things that should not be 10 bucks stand alone price. No way a Robot is worth 10 bucks. At least this time it looks like everything will be in the season pass.
In the end i do not have a problem with DLC as long as it adds a lot to thegame and is worth the price. That being said either way enough will buy stupid dlc like gun packs for 4.99 or whatever so they will keep releasing it at stupid prices.COD is good for over priced DLC along with others.
Comment has been collapsed.
If they focus on business point of views just to have a steady income as part of the reason i could understand but it killed and ruined those die hard loyal fans that follow them for years. Even their story writer for Fallout 4 was disappointed. How steady is a steady income which a pre order was $79.90 X million of players and fans equal to? That's greed. And on E3 they announced it was a free DLC but ended up money sucking again, Such a lame joke to Fans.
As a Gamer and used to be a Game tester when i'm young, i rather they stick to the expansion which the DLC is included rather than 'polishing' which we used to call 'Remastering', Talking about Borderland 1,2&GOTY, what is the players remaining inside the server playing on it? how much is the pricing drop within few years? Just like Rockstar GTA Online, ton of hackers and cheaters yet $74.90 with zero effort of dealing the problem? I seriously doubt they even hire Game Testers to QA and QC their games for clocking 300-400hours before launching nowadays, after that full of problems, bugs, glitches, networking connection errors like the current Street fighter 5.
I got no problem with Gun pack DLC, Skin DLC because it was hardwork by designing them and the effort to make the game look good, also as long they don't put stats in it which may mislead to Pay2win concept.
Comment has been collapsed.
It depends on the price of the dlc and type of guns,i get time has been spent on them, but not enough to justify 4.99-9.99 like a lot charge imo.I said i have no issue when said dlc is worth the asking price, problem is rarely is it ever worth the price.
Payday 2 is a good example almost monthly dlc and most of them not being that good but final cost for DLC even on sale at 75% at this time would be just as much as buying Fallout+season pass full price, and dlc does not include the base game.
A steady income would be monthly cash flow, what your talking about is a lump amount $79.90 X million of players but not a steady amount, not to mention a lot do not even pass the million mark. That is like making a product and selling 2 million units the first year at say 19.99 so that is 40 million in sales. Then after that only selling 100,000 a year and someone calling you greedy because you want to increase the cash flow since you already made X amount.
GTA V sells big and last few times each time has broke sales records, and in the past they have used this to fund other games and project but in the mean time had very little income from other sources once your broke down sales and cost of making those other games and waiting for the next release. That is why things have shifted to shark cards and so on,it provides a monthly stream of cash. Also why we get season passes instead of expansion, those also offer more cash flow.
In the end you can not just say $79.90 X million of players is enough money, that is gross sales, that is not what they made after everyone was paid and cost of making the game has been taking out.So people see one billion and think damn they made that much much more do they need,It cost over 250 million to make the game. You take that out of the Billion they made, they made 750 million, that just the cost of the game, not operating cost and so on and how that is used to fund other games and so forth, and they do make games they do not sell well and end up losing.
In the end yeah sometimes they do get greedy and yes sometimes dlc is crap and yes sometimes they make mistakes, but i think it to easy to blame greed all the time just because you do not agree with the price or so forth. If they deliver DLC like they have in the passed fallout games, and you get the season pass now,you will get your monies worth. After all i remember paying 39.99 for all of Fallout 3 dlc.
Comment has been collapsed.
A lump sum earned which wasn't enough to cover the next projects or titles isn't efficient enough and that's bullshit, that's Hit and Run business tactic of course the projects they produced out won't have a strong stand in a long run.
Payday 2 first started price was $20 game piece, you have the option to buy the DLC or not will not affect the gaming experiences in that game and even the concept. GTA V was a successful title, but only ruined by those hackers and cheaters, of course if you are really a fan how will you feel? Rockstar was against modder too and there's a huge debate on this, the reason is modder doesn't own the base game copyrights from Rockstar, also it may cause their main game reputation to fall.
if 79.90 multiply million of sale copies worldwide with currencies exchange rate and their stock exchange wasn't enough to maintain and assure or ensure their reputation to run their companies and gamer's experiences, then sorry we wasn't on the right channel together.
We alway have the option to wait for the summer sales or bundle, by that time when a new game release that was much more addictive and fun, i don't think even a 75-85% discount do help to gain back those players, because they have new game, or maybe yes we buy your game on sales but we backlog to it as we got too much to play but wasn't sure do we have the time to get in to it.
I followed XCOM series since 1994 on my 386 PC, From Mythos Games->Microprose->Hasbro->2k->Firaxis Games, From $3.50 to $79.90, so what kind of experiences, storyline, concept i'm getting, is it worth or is there's a future expansion or DLC bullshit again? Well, at least EU and EW never disappoint any Fans out there after 2-3 years of official launch and they kept their DLC stable and reasonable price.
Last but not least, i'm not here to know how to maintain their or a companies but here to share and quiting as a Fan of Bethesda for good , but 1 thing i'm pretty sure is, i owned Fallout series including Fallout4 CD-DVD which was SGD79.90 Pre-order without a damn season pass but only a poster. Im sorry to said their business tactic or marketing wasn't fantastic, not to mention their customer support till now i couldn't activate my Fallout series in Steam except Fallout4. Well at least Dying Light wasn't the only piece of expensive rubbish. 71 hours to complete a Melee is even OP than Guns game.

Automatron sounds pretty awesome, and I love building up settlements, so I'm excited for both of those. The story one will probably take me a while to get around to, because I'm always getting distracted and stuff... But, I won't be able to get it for a while because I don't have any money... :/

The first two sound REALLY cheesy. And raising the price of the season pass by $20? Dick move there, Bethesda. Dick move. I need to get the pass, but with my job closing now even I can't get the pass.
Comment has been collapsed.
Gotta admit, I'm excited for Automatron. Mostly because it means that RobCo Certified is canon now. Of course, why I'd pay ten bucks for it when I can use said mod for free in New Vegas, I dunno. But I'm still kinda hyped. Not too hyped though, I learned my lesson with the base game.
But as others have mentioned, I just want them to release the GECK already. I love seeing what modders can come up with to add to the Falloutverse.
of course none of this matters to me, I can't get the game to run so LOL

The announcement, linked at the bottom, calls these three the "first series" of DLCs, so we may get more later in the year.
First, in March, "Automatron," which features customizable robot companions. Will cost $10. From the announcement:
In April, "Wasteland Workshop." More settlement customization. Will cost $5. From the announcement:
Then in May, the big one. "Far Harbor." Will cost $25. From the announcement:
So we've got the Dawnguardish, the Hearthfireish, and the Dragonbornish DLCs. Also if you own Fallout 4 on Steam, you can sign up to beta test the DLCs early. And the Season Pass will increase from $30 to $50 at the start of March, so either hope you can get into the beta or get the season pass before the end of this month.
Hopefully we'll be getting more story DLCs later in the year like 3 and New Vegas had, but these seem like good starts.
