Hmm... well... good news but I still prefer playing it on PSP... but I'm wondering will we get this renewed version or original?
Oh... "Final Fantasy III for PC is a new version of the game." ok I found my answer by myself… a lil’bit disappointing.

They're all mostly ports of the DS version, and I'm expecting this one will be as well.

Both seem quite possible now :) FFX-HD would be on top of my wishlist, but SE seems to go the "least effort"-road so far, so IV + After Years will probaply be next.

Edit: Nevermind, I was making a post about Sony, not Square Enix.

The phone version is a slightly improved port of the DS version. Why are you worried about that? I'd be more worried that it's a bad game, because it is.

DS version. The only good thing I can say about it is that it's clearly a prototype of FFV's job system, and not much tops that.

King of Dragon Pass improved, and it was already excellent. Hoplite, 868-HACK and Zaga 33 are excellent roguelikes. Super Hexagon started out as a phone game. F-Sim Shuttle is a fun little flight sim where you land the Space Shuttle. Spaceteam is an amazingly chaotic multiplayer game where you yell "SET FLIBULATOR TO THREE." Calculords is an excellent CCG with some basic maths.
I would go on, but my phone's only 16 gigs and I don't have that much installed right now. Please grow up.

I have no idea why publishers aren't using some kind of open-source/free for commercial use PS1 emulator to package and sell their older titles.
Publishers do it all the time with DOSBOX.

Yes, there could be issues with Sony.
SEGA is doing it (on Steam and other sites) though with their own games. So, let's change that to:
"I wonder why Sony doesn't use a free/commercially usable emulator to publish their old PS1 games?"

FFXII IZJS HD, please. Also a gloriously beautiful remake of FFV with built-in Four Job Fiesta options.

I already play it on my PC, =D, but yeah this is terrific news, I hope more people can try it and appreciate just how great it was. This one is my favorite FF game, and when I played it, it just came out, and at the time it was light years ahead of everything else. I still find myself humming some of the music from it.

III for DS was pretty good. Story was bland though.

Are you implying that humans didn't know how to write in 1990? Bad writing is bad writing, no matter the era.

"Are you implying that humans didn't know how to write in 1990?"
No Takatsuki is implying that games in general had bland storylines back then even RPGs, which is true.
Look at the other Final Fantasy games, Phantasy Star, Glory of Heracles the Dragon Quest games (well series in general), and many more. None of these games have the type of fleshed out stories that are common in video games today.
"Bad writing is bad writing, no matter the era."
Bland is bad now?

I've always felt Final Fantasy 2 had excellent storytelling. If I actually cared to, I could easily make a list of games with better writing that predated FFIII. And yes, bland is bad when story and characters are the centerpiece of your game. By contrast, FFIV had an amazing story and wonderful memorable characters.

^this
The first final fantasy was quite a simple story, but it's ok, the second one was amazing and loved it, but the third one was so lame and annoying, plus characters weren't so great.
I played the first 2 on the psp, great remakes, the third one on ds and I have yet to play the fourth on psp, I found it new for 10€ :3

Sounds like we have similar taste. You'll likely enjoy IV, hate V, and LOVE VI.
Comment has been collapsed.
Way to go! ^^ I only have 3+5 left to play.. gotta say I didn´t enjoy FF2 that much, even though it layed most of the fundation of the later FFs.. but I guess you are gonna love FF4 even more ^^ ..and I kind of admire you for having "that first time you Play FF6" still ahead of you.. its really special! :D
Comment has been collapsed.
If you like story then VI is the way to go. VI has the best writing in the series. VII is a big flaming turd when it comes to telling a good story.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just checked replies. I'm pretty sure the GBA is the best version but I think they are close to identical.
Comment has been collapsed.
There's some confusion about that sometimes, In North America, "VI", was released as "III". Which is definitely my favorite! Kefka and Sabin... etc. and "I am a treasure hunter!" and "he'd kill his own mother for a nickel". That the one you mean?
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually you may be right...this one could actually be FF VI, given that it was named FF3 in the West during the SNES era.
Comment has been collapsed.
It isn't. They fixed that naming confusion in the PSX era, and this game's been released as FF3 on... what, four platforms now? DS, iOS, Android, and for some reason OUYA.

I´m madly in love with 6-10 + Lost Odyssey... but yeah, FF6 is best!

There seems to be an extra I in your post? Not sure why, might want to fix that.

Aw man, I just bought the DS version about a month ago.

That was the best FF, hands down. I wanna play with Shadow, Locke, Gau, Mog and Relm again. And see Mog's kickass dances.

search ff6 android. for some reason the link isn't working
it isn't a 3d remake. I'm not sure if I would want a 3d remake or not. But I don't like the style they went for in that one, that's for sure. It looks ok in some of the screenshots, but when I saw the second screenshot I was like fuck no.

Technically most cereals and pop tarts should be considered desserts but people start the day with them and consider it a healthy breakfast.
I forgot my point...

YES!

I don't even play CoD. You can't judge me just because I don't like games from the 90's or 80s because I said their textures are too low. Fool.
Comment has been collapsed.
You do realize that games from the 80s and 90s don't look a thing like the screemcaps shown so far, right? That's the 3D remake, not the original NES version.

There can´t be enough Final Fantasy anywhere ever!
..but they could put a bit more effort into it than they usually do..
Comment has been collapsed.
not sure how i feel about this.. I mean it wouldnt be a bad news, buuut, this games belong more to handheld consoles and eventually phones than pc gaming. Unless they make some exceptional steamwork integration, Im not sure it will be succesful at any rate
Comment has been collapsed.
it wasnt bad, even though the combat system felt really weird to me in the psp version.

Still waiting for them to make it available for PSVita.. I skipped the whole PSP and the few games I really missed out on are all available for Vita via PSN, except Crisis Core :/
PC would be best of course, but I don´t think theres realistic hope for that ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
PSVita.... their making a mistake by not making it avaivable on it. Oh.. you skipped the great classic console :( ? Ohhh.... few games.... sorry to hear. It would be best, esspecialy other PSP games, which wont happen. No hope for that :( ?? But.. the badly resoluted Final Fantasy from the 90s got on steam :( ...

Well my brother tried to install an emulator for me to play my favourite Pursuit Force games, and.... it failed... partialy... so i cant, pluss my toaster died because of three polish bastards. What?! It is great! Theres so many aspects to love about it, amazing music, characthers, locations and enviroments, amazingly High HD cutscenes, game is pasauble at any time, lovely power move spin bar which brings awesome attacks as you progress further and so on. I agree there were non enjoyable moments such story elements when Zack dies or when you do side missions and you get to monsters who are unstoppable, insanely fast and one hit kill attacks and abilities...

They don't suck. FF fans just hate change.
They cry for "bringing back the old systems" but when that happens they then cry "for something new". When something new comes, everyone hates it.
I have been playing Final Fantasy since FF1 for the NES. They each offer something different and unique, and of course they each have their own shortcomings. My personal favorite is Final Fantasy IV.
FFXIII/XIII-2/Lightning Returns are good games on their own, but for most it's either a "You love it or hate it" kinda thing. I personally loved them, the Paradigm Shift system was innovative and challenging at times. It improved with FFXIII-2 adding the monsters.
In my opinion, you aren't a real FF fan unless you like them all. They all have strengths and weaknesses, but they all excel at what they are designed for: storytelling. That's what RPGs are all about.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you think it's a hallway, you probably skipped everything. Opinions though. -shrug-
You say that like Auto-Battle is the only option, and it certainly isn't. Most people are lazy and just chose to go with it, even though it isn't optimized at all.

In my opinion, that is exactly what a fan isn't. Fans should be critical of what is done badly in a series they care about. FFXIII was a step backwards in almost every regard. The characters were bland, the story was an uninspired and uninteresting convoluted mess of apostrophes, the combat system was poorly balanced, and the levelling system had the same amount of choice as exploring the environment.
If you enjoy it then that is fair enough, but you can't go around saying everyone else is not a fan because they did not enjoy what you do. A fan is someone that follows a series/team/company through the good times AND the bad times, and many of us certainly regard FFXIII as the bad times.

"Before the Nintendo DS remake, Final Fantasy III was the least accessible game in the series since it was only available for Famicom in Japan. Now Luneth, the silvered haired Final Fantasy III protagonist is everywhere. Square Enix brought Final Fantasy III to DS, iOS ), Android, PSP, and Ouya.
Next, Final Fantasy III is coming to PC. A rating by Germany’s USK board leaked the news.

While Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII already had PC ports, Final Fantasy III for PC is a new version of the game. That’s interesting to see and perhaps Square Enix is considering to bring even more Final Fantasy games to PC."

Good news for jRPG and turn-based fans alike.
Odds it'll release on Steam is very likely, but probably not for some time.
