This game looks fun but question is...is it really worth it ?? Why or why not

I bought it and regret it. The graphics are acceptable but not great. The voice-acting is atrocious (your character is mute on top of that). The user interface is not ergonomic. The fighting is repetitive and unfun. The quest system is boring. The progression is linear.

I disagree on everything Mew2 said aside from about the combat. Many consider TSW to be the most underrated of last year.

The graphics could be better but they put in quite a bit of detail in the towns and zones. Voice acting, well fine for me but I am not exactly an audiophile and more often then not enjoyed what was said. Combat is a bit like GW2, action tab targeted. The company still pumps out new updates roughly every other month.

The story progression is fairly linear, but character progression is anything but. There are no levels, when the bar fills it just gives skill points and resets. You can wield any 2 weapons at a time and pick from maybe 70 skills per weapon to make a build however you like, most weapons are capable of filling multiple roles depending on build you make.

You can swap skills freely anytime out of combat. It is quite possible to unlock every single skill of all weapons. For gear, There are only 3 pieces + weapons and they tend to be your only limiting factor, but generally pretty easy to get or craft. You can change your outfit freely without changing your gear, fully unlocking a section of a weapon even gives full themed outfits.

For quests the only way would think someone would find it boring is if they do not like puzzles and research. This game expects you to pay attention to what told, find clues around you, and even research online (modern setting after all). There are also plenty of fights that might require you to tweak your build to the need to counter the enemy. At no point can you just run around 1 shotting stuff.

There is even some AR elements in it where there are sites made specifically for the purpose of missions to use them. For example find someone dead and check the card next to them, has a website, go there and find a blog of someone investigating the Isle which gives you clues for the rest of the chain.

So far the setting itself is pretty good, a bit of lovecraft mixed with mythology, hollow earth, zombies, and a big hunk of stuff unique to it. I would say do not go into this thinking of it like an MMO though, it feels more like a big RPG campaign with a storyline to follow and many side missions even has the hidden lore pieces all over like KOTOR. I know there is an endgame raiding, but this is very much a case of the journey not the destination.

I will not say TSW is perfect, plenty of flaws, but it is unique and a refreshing break from more traditional MMOs. It is nice to have to puzzle solve/play detective again, to few games and MMOs have that anymore. So ya I would suggest it if like that sort of thing and can overlook mediocre combat. TSW is pretty fun, although when alone, it gets boring fast
